    Yeah, definitely so many variables to consider. It cycled fine unsuppressed, but started having cycles issues running suppressed. I had no luck with any gas block adjustments, then I realized I needed to go with a lighter buffer. I replaced the H3 with an H2 which got it cycling with 220gr ammo, but then ended up getting an adjustable buffer because the H2 was still too heavy for 200gr and 190gr. Went lighter with the buffer weights and that did the trick. I highly recommend the adjustable buffer when starting a new build - definitely easier than buying and returning a bunch of different buffers.

    Recently replaced my Faxon 16 inch 308 barrel with a 20” BA bead blasted premium heavy profile barrel. Using a SA bleed off gas block, 308 carbine buffer and a sprinco orange spring and it purs unsuppressed. Add on the Sandman S and 6clicks on the gas block and you’re back in business. I am super impressed with the new barrel change. Tuned with hand loads of 168 gr SMK and 44.6 gr of Varget. ( don’t use my data tho ). 12.5 308 with sandman S is in the near future.

  • @212caboose

    There's also buffer springs, adjustable BCG's, THEN there's port size to think about, if using THOSE parts... This isn't even considering what length gas system you're going to run! That's also not discussing what caliber you're going to run, and whether you're running supers or subs. There's SO MUCH more to consider when suppressing the AR platform.

  • @righteousone8454
    @righteousone8454 Před 2 měsíci

    Adding heavy weights at the buffer tube such as H1/H2 and even H3 is bad because it doesn't do anything for the actual gas that is now carbon caking the innards of the BCG
    Always do adjustable gas block
    As carbon is harder than some rocks in your backyard and that's going into your action. Prevent is from coming into the action, rather than adding an extra hard spring or weight to stop it at the gas key level, while it's already down the tube and caking the f out of your firearm

    • @AeroPrecision
      @AeroPrecision  Před rokem +4

      A low mass BCG works against you when tuning for suppressed use. They have their place in the competition world, but in this context they work against you as you are increasing carrier velocity by cutting the mass down.

      @@C_oprator89 Chrome silicon springs are a scam. Great way to deadhead your rifle by having the recoil spring corrode and put you out of business. This is especially true on high round count session with a suppressor. It can get so hot it will pull moisture out of the air and blow it back into the action, directly exposing the action spring to something that will readily corrode it.
      Tuning should be done exclusively on the buffer using the standard stainless USGI spec action spring. Springco *anything* is snake oil.

The ability to tune the gun with buffer and spring has always been more advantageous and actually possible because of springco making “ heavy,light,medium” strength/length buffer springs. Not to mention their extractor and ejector springs are pretty much the gold standard. I have never had any issues using them but it’s kind of cool to see an argument to the contrary

      @Dron K When you increase the pressure to the system by adding a Suppressor, the Bolt will cycle much more violently, and won't "Dwell" long enough, before it begins to move out of Battery. Which is why adding a heavier Buffer, and/or an Adjustable Gas Block is paramount to tuning with a Suppressor.

      No, they also get a paycheck. BTW- most companies don't give Christmas bonuses or any bonuses at all. So you aren't getting any sympathy from most workers. I have received a few gift cards from my boss for $10-20 around Christmas time but it's rare. I didn't get anything last year, or the year before, or the year before.... and my company is making record profit after the pandemic. The joke at my work is if I work harder they will increase my bonus from $0 to $000.00. I would suspect that business at Aero is on the decline in the last year or two, although probably still up compared to 2016-2019. Guns are a cyclical business. I know at my local gun shop the wait time is much less than in 2020.

And of course the top executives are making huge money, far more than any of the workers. As for me....I just got a 3% raise which is the biggest I have ever received. Most years I get 2% maybe. Should all companies give their employees a big raise when they make record profits? Of course, we all would love that. But most don't. And most don't give a Christmas bonus either. My company quit doing Christmas parties over 20 years ago (so I have heard). Throwing a fit because they didn't get a bonus at the end of the year is childish. The bottom line is that if pay really sucks then employees will quit and Aero product quality will suffer and they will get a poor reputation and business will decline. The AR world is very crowded and buyers have many other AR companies to buy from.
