- China has issued a warning that the Philippines will bear the consequences for the flotilla of civilian ships that sailed over Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough Shoal in a bid to assert the country’s territorial sovereignty over it.
Wang Wenbin, spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, said any abuse to China’s goodwill to allow Filipino fishing boats in the West Philippine Sea will be met by Beijing's response.

I’ve been trying to understand their motivations and geopolitics these past months and I’m 100% sure this idea is meant to get the Philippines or other southeast asian countries a hostage to it in the future to strengthen and expand their claim further down indonesia (which they’ve tried before until indonesian navy wasn’t having any of it so they reduced their claim). Once that china gets them, they will use it as a treat in the region to altogether stop any claim on the sea as any confrontation will risk damaging it and also destroying its entire ecosystem and poisoning everyone’s water in the region.
They are on defensive mode against the US Navy..Xi Jinping knows that their vast open coastline in the WPS is their weakest point in case of war with the US..but that does not give them the right to usurp the entire SCS..instead they should build a vast coastline defense like what Germany did in occupied France during WW2..but still the US military is far more superior than the PLA..their only chance of deterrent is if they control the entire SCS..which the US will not allow them to do..
