Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how crazy this technology is?
I donât want this to come off sounding backhanded but, Mr Alex, you really have come a long way, over the last couple of years. You come across as much more comfortable on screen. Everything, youâve really upped your game, and it really shows. Thank you for putting so much effort into it, and then giving it to us for free. I appreciate it. Please keep doing what you are doing.
Hiya Jim. Not backhanded at all, I watched some of my older vids recetly and yeaaah, i've come a long way huh! Haha. But thank you, I really appreciate the kind words. I'll keep going as long as you all keep watching :)
Fantastic. The best demo of the Depth Map tool, yet. This new feature could not have come at a better time. Iâm working on a short film where I want to add a thick fog to an outdoor environment. This will work perfectly. Thanks a million.
Alex as always presented in an easy and straight forward and logical manner. Thanks.
Your the first person to show what you can do with the depth map. Thank youđđ
Its taken me four months to actually get round to installing Resolve 18 and making full use of this Tutorial.
You sir, really are the "go-to" channel for me learning how to do the important editing stuff as quickly as possible.
Well, you and Darren really đ
Thank u so much, interested in starting so soft during quarintine and just need a place to get started, thx for the support
Great training, very clear, good pace...love the examples
I love how you have multiple examples and do it more than once. It really helps when youâre trying to follow along because you donât have to really pause and rewind a bunch of times. Itâs also nice because then if Iâm at your same pace I can do it more than once as well and by the time the videoâs over Iâve got a pretty solid foundation with this skill. All that to say, great video đđ€đŒ
ditto!
Amazing. Always astonished on how good DR is and how much it advances at each version.

man, low key kicking myself with a smile haha First of all these examples made it easy as hell to understand and secondly, the me laughing part, is because it's so easy to make what used to be very complex (for me complex anyways) titling or what have you and now its just here for us. Allows us to be creative and do more. Appreciate this, will like and subscribe to see more!

I am glad i have the studio version.
Davinci Resolve is the best! Thanks for your tutorials and tips.
Thanks!
Thank you
Brilliant video mate đđđđ
Awesome introduction to Depth Map. Thank you very much. I was even more delighted when I discovered my old MSI GS65 laptop with Intel Core i7 8th Gen + 32GB RAM handled Depth Map with the greatest of ease.
thank you
I color graded my video (Blue Danube) and wanted to add a lens flare but the dancer's arm moved in front of where I put it. I see that using depth map would be one way to solve this but I chose a faster and easier way. I just scrubbed to just before the arm passes in front of the flare and key framed the size to shrink to nothing until the arm passed it and then key framed it back to original size. worked just fine and took 30 seconds to set up. I love how intuitive this program is. Thanks for the depth map explanation. It looks very useful for selective coloring/effects on a broader level.
Thank you.
Thanks for the great summary! I didn't even know there was a new version 18 out! Definitely looking forward to give it a try once it's out of beta. :)
*Wow Davinci Resolve is the software that just keeps on giving đ !*
Amazing video Alex, my computer is orignally from Scan computers too, i always love there stuff, i was going to get an upgrade at some point too, nice video
awesome tutorial, no bs!
I like so much "mosaic blur" that's very funny footage. Congratulations. I'll work it on my personal projects. Keep up the good working â€ïž
Oh yea, totally awesome. Totally looking forward to the stable 18.
đđđđđ
depth map + layering + tracking = amazing Hollywood title sequencesâ€ïž
Yeah I've since tried it with some power windows too and it's working a treat!
Fantastic tutorial cheer
This was very helpful. I was wanting to add some fake depth of field to some shots in a video I'm currently editing in Davinci Studio 18, but I could think how to, didn't know about the depth node.
Been using the depth map functionality and it totally justifies my upgrade from a Mac Mini M1 to the Max Studio Max. This is just the first glimpse into the power of the new generation of Neural Tools bringing amazing functionality to Resolve 18. It is only going to get better as things get optimized.
Totally agree Chris :)
@@MrAlexTech I wonder how the Mac Studio M1/M2 compares with Intel i9-12900K & 3200 Mhz and NVidia 3080.
Just excelent, thanks for this, no, thanks for all your tutorials. Regards from Costa Rica.
Amazing đ
Thanks u changed my life
thanks for video bro
Brilliant
Impressive. Going to need to upgrade my pc.
Man, your videos have improved a lot lately, Congrats.
Heyyy! Thanks JP. I'm trying :)
The best Davinci Resolve CZcamsr
Nice !
Thanks for your tutorials. They are well done, easy to follow and often show multiple examples.
Any thoughts on how to reduce the edge "chatter" that happens with the Depth Map effect? I find it too strong for most of the footage I have tested it with. And, yes, I have tried the "better" setting and experimented with the post processing and blur options.
Helped e alot
Thanks
woowwww 4k /60 đ€Ż i lke this Mr.Alex i like this format ....
Great information, presented clearly. You have a new subscriber... now I'm going to look at your other videos. If they are all this good, I'll be here a while. đ
I love how I can get excited about new features in a program I bought without having to buy it again⊠best part of resolve.
I was literally getting ready to start masking something in a bit to blur out the background and this video pops up into my youtube feed. CZcamss getting good.
WOWZERS!
I believe that a fancier way of making depth maps would be to differentiate subjects by colorizing their depth so it would offer two ways of separating the subjects from their surrounding. I'm pretty sure that separating subjects with an AI would give better quality height maps in the end of the process.
Alex, BM should hire you as a master trainer. Your stuff is much better than the boring training videos they produce. Keep it going.
Man, if they keep adding awesome stuff like that, Iâll have to buy the Studio version eventually đ„Č
Studio version is a no brainer. Imagine what you pay for premiere.
As someone who basically bought the studio version for the privilege of being able to have clean video output back in v16... I have been very happy with that payment and for the amount of money I spent I have gotten a lot of value in the features added as I can still upgrade through each major release without paying again.
I have been thinking about it for a while now. I have an "ok" laptop, might upgrade a little bit but obviously now a days money is a huge factor. Does the paid version help with the performance of a computer that's not "top notch"? I notice it especially with go pro 4k 60fps. We do basic editing w phone and GoPro.10. we want to get into short film possibly. Just wondering if the studio version would really help
just crack it
Awh man I can't wait until beta testing is over. Thanks, Alex!

My new effect to use every time . Great video
Heyyy Jusdrug! MTB dude. I've seen you in MTB vids ha. Thanks man. Glad to hear it.
@@MrAlexTech hey đ this replay just made my week . Thank you yet again . Omg canât believe you have seen my Mtb vids đ€«đđ„Č
and my friends are planning to make a ga and i'm making the soft, so tNice tutorials really helped
Is there any way to dynamically change the depth-map options? Such as using "isolation" on an actor who moves towards & away from the camera in the same shot, simulating focus-tracking/pulling?
Very cool vid, Alex. Loving the new approach/style.
Half my rig is Scan. Top firm.
Heyyy thanks Tez! Not too much clickbait?! Ha getting mixed comments so far! Yeah Scan have been great for me too.
@@MrAlexTech Clickbait? Well, would I have just joined a channel if it was even remotely clickbaitish? Hell no!
I'll hang out for a year or a half đ
