If you are curious about how different living in Panama is versus life in the USA, check out this video. czcams.com/video/JfCCRi7Y0Xk/video.htmlsi=9twZd4cLGp48YAT6
I had lived in Boquete before moving to USA, and never encountered any scorpion as you said, never heard of that at all. Is a very pleasant community, excellent for people who want to retire, live peaceful and no want to spend so much money. The negative part is when people go there and try to change the way others live. We have to be respectful of traditions and culture.
It is so important to respect traditions and way of life. I am glad that you shared that. 👊🏽
That happens even in the US, too. People moving from region to region, especially "red" states to "blue" states, and vice versa. i.e. New Yorkers retiring to Florida, Californians moving to Texas or Washington state, Evangelicals moving to the West Coast... And the backlash can get ugly. If you don't like the way you live, don't try to recreate it somewhere else.
By far the best Boquete video I have watched. I appreciate the effort and time you put into making it. I plan to visit and possibly relocate there this summer.
Michael, thank your for taking the time to watch this video and for your motivating comment! Wow! This summer is right around the corner. You have quite an exciting trip coming up! 🤦🏽♀️👍🏽🌎
kkkkkkkkkkkkkk
It is definitely a great, informative and fun video! Great job! I appreciated it because I'm going to be traveling to Panama Mar 2023 for a relocation tour. ☺️
Wow. This looks fantastic. I am planning on leaving the USA and Portugal is my leading choice. But I really like the looks of this.
Portugal seems to be a place of choice for many. I would love to visit that country one day. Have you had the chance to explore Portugal yet?
@@AbroadAbility No. scheduled to go this Fall. Eager to depart the USA but still prepping to go. Glad I found your channel.
@@Lat41 awww. Thank you for your support. I wish you all the luck on your journey. The first exploratory is exhilarating, exciting, and nerve wracking all at the same time LOL. 🌎✈️
Excellent video!
Panama is a smart move, it is getting scary here in the states.
Thank you. I feel good about Panama as my choice. Now, it is just a matter of when. 👍🏽🇵🇦
Barry, you're right on the money my friend.
@Barry Thacker I see we have several channels in common. Did you end up moving to Panama?
I went to Boquete about 8 years ago. Love it . Prices and people are fantastic.
super informative as always. camera work was awesome. like someone said below it feels like i was there with you.
Thank you for those kind words! It’s cool that people are starting to feel like they were there with me. 😃🇵🇦👊🏽
Do not buy real estate in Panama until you have lived there for 1 year. Seasons vary greatly and there are many micro climates..You have to find what suits your liking. Real estate is generally slow to sell. Don't buy anything on impulse...Just my opinion.
Paul, your opinion is shared by many for some of the very reasons that you mentioned and is great advice. 👍🏽
@@AbroadAbility Thank you for your kind words. Last night I returned back from Boquete to USA. I suspect I saw you at The Fish House. Was that you?
@@paulbrungardt9823 that was not me. Do I have a twin out there lol?
I''m from Boquete and this video it's just amazing! I would love to see more of them!
Oh wow! That means a lot to me 😃! Thanks for watching and commenting. When ever I return to Boquete, I will try to capture more. 👍🏽🎥🇵🇦
Andrish is interesting that you're impressed with this video being from Boquete cause I'm from Miami and I'm too very informative.
I visited there for a few days in July 2019. Beautiful town, friendly people, both locals and expats. There are a lot of hiking opportunities as well, with incredible waterfalls to see. Volcan Baru hike is not for the feint of heart.
Did you hike Volcan Baru? I saw a video of the hike and figured I that was the only way I would experience it LOL. Thank you for watching the video!
@@AbroadAbility yeah it looks physically challenging. But it’s a great follow up to staying in Bocas for 2 weeks. It’s beautiful scenery and great for hiking. Monica my e-bike guide doesn’t recommend drinking from the municipal water when I asked.
I visited there last week after a forty years hiatus. The biggest surprise to me is the road conditions are so good, even in the less travel roads like driving from Boquete to Volcan.
Yes. A lot of the roads there are in good shape. Once you get off a main roadway, it can be more treacherous.
a lot of paving in town about 10 years ago. the last time I was there. I live near
san juan del sur, nicaragua.. surf town, younger crowd . I prefer living there
BRA-VO! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Very nicely done. Straight, no chaser--just how I like it. SUBSCRIBED! 🇵🇦
😀😀😃😃 thank you for the support and for watching my video! People have told me throughout my life that I don’t beat around the bush! 🤣🤣🤣 Glad that you liked it!
@@AbroadAbility You're welcome❣️😁
It was so awesome meeting you ❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing a glimpse into our little town of Boquete
I was fabulous to meet toy as well. I love your energy and I can’t wait to visit again to try some of your tours and taste all of the food that you keep teasing us with LOL. 🇵🇦❤️
people need to know alto and bajo are very different. I lived near the river and library in bajo. It was quiet. i think it was the best neighborhood
I had a killer view of Baru. Boquete is nice town, but , I like a younger crowd. I live in san juan del sur, nicaragua. it suits me.
Definitely a fantastic place to visit. But in terms of living like you said one should really try it out first before committing. The windy season is no joke, it's pretty consistently windy during that season and wind strength will vary by the part of town you are in. Rainy season is consistently rainy, basically every day without fail.
On the positive side the scenery is beautiful and so are the people.
You raise a great point that I think I forgot to mention, the wind gusts. I recall being on a mountain in a higher elevation and the wind almost knocked me down. My legs and core got a work out just trying to stand still lol.
@@AbroadAbility I'm just glad you actually mentioned the wind and rain! So many videos like to overlook that completely.
Anyway just thought I would share my experience. Others may vary.
Thanks for sharing this video. SO many people with disabilities are looking at places where they can have a good quality life.
Yes! This world can be hard to navigate.
I really appreciate your perspective as a mobility challenged individual. My wife has had mobility issues for the past 25 years, and with arthritis in my hip now, I'm not far behind. The cooler temperature of Boquete is very, very tempting, and the relative proximity to the "big city" of David is a plus. Why not consider David? Looks like a warm day in Boquete is a cold day in David. We'd like to get out of the Southern US heat.
Thank you for watching and sharing about both of your mobility issues. Panama has so many micro climates that I am sure you guys can find the right one. I ended up choosing Panama City. 🇵🇦
you will melt in David.
Nice video on Boquete. Hey at 4:42 I recognise Rich there. haha Rich is an honorary Panamanian from Trinidad.
Thank you! Yes, his story showcased one of resiliency. I am amazed by it, how he has been able to document his journey and the country!
I was there in 1974. Wow! It was so little then. Because of the smell of fresh roasted coffee there, I started drinking coffee there
Thank you Aisha for this excellent and very professional video and presentation. It brings back wonderful memories when my wife and I visited Boquete in 2006. Since her death in 2012 I have lived and taught in a small village 1 hour from Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. Our school is surrounded by hills, rice paddies and mountains and has the same lush tropical beauty of Panama. I appreciate being able to revisit once again through your superb video the Boquete part of Panama that had us so enchanted. Thanks again.
Wow, Dan! Thank you for sharing that with me. Your description of Thailand transported my mind to a scenic and tranquil place. I am glad that you enjoyed the video!
Hey Dan, I would like to ask you to share more about what it is like there in Chiang Mai these days. I lived there in 2019 and before that in 2012-2014. Now I am stuck in cold, wet Massachusetts and wanting to get out again. Can you tell me about the difficulties now in getting into the country and the attitude of the police and customs? The restrictions in effect now on travel and masking and social distancing and quarantines? I used to speak Spanish so-so and was able to talk to people in Thai well enough. But now I just want to go to where it is easiest to get to.
Sorry for your loss.
Great video thank you...headed there very soon for my first trip to 'look around'!
Thank you for watching! I am glad to read that you liked it. Good luck on your first look around trip. It is exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. I loved my look around adventure!
Wonderful views and informative video. Good job! I am looking at retiring in Panama in the near future so this was very helpful.
Beautifully done video production! You are very talented. Thank you!
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. 👍🏽
Love this. My father is from colon panama and im looking at staying near by that area for a month or 2 to get to know that side of my heritage so it does sadly cut this location out for me wanting to stay but I'm totally keeping it on the list of places to visit for a weekend trip while I'm out there
My grandmother was from Colon!!!!! 🇵🇦❤️🥰 I love that you are getting to know that side of your heritage. 👊🏽
This is a good video. I been to Panama 5 times and Boquete was one of the best area for me. The temp and humidity ratio is good.
FWIW: I'm going to retire outside of the USA and I have been looking at Philipines ,DR, CostaRica and Panama and the latter are high on my list.
The cons;
power is not reliable
limited shopping and availability ( you really need to travel to Panama City IMHO )
you need a car or motorbike to get to any thing , when I was there many expat rode bikes around
restaurants are limited in qty and operational times are not consistent, but you ca find sandwich shops and stands
And if you do not like rain, do not go to the western edge or Panama
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave such a detailed and thoughtful comment. People need to hear and experience both the good and the bad of each country and areas.
Best video I’ve seen! Thank you for the tour
Oh wow! I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed watching it and found some value from it! 🥰🇵🇦👊🏽

So good, I appreciate your accessibility perspective. I have to roll on a standing walker. Hoping to find a nice cottage to rent, no stairs, to adopt a pair of the local rescued dogs. Still have time before I can relocate. Enjoying your videos til then.

let me suggest Boquete Cottage these are new ALL iNCLUDED cottages for rent beautiful includes pot/pans fully furnished with internet, gas, electricity, trash, cable, tv, etc..very close to downtown Boquete for $925.00 a month.

Tks for sharing. But this video lacked the most important thing I was looking for. "Mortgage prices"

Great video! We want to move to Retire this year in Panama or Costa Rica but apparently it is cheaper to live in Panama. We visited CR and loved it and made wonderful & memorable videos but we are hesitating because of taxes and high cost of living.

Are you in David at the moment? I am heading there shortly (should be there around Dec 1st - 3rd, 2021) Would really love to have a coffee and chat and pick your brain as I am encountering hurdles with my settling in. Thanks!!!
My apologies but I was traveling when you posted this message. I actually do not live in David but was just showing what I saw while exploring that part of Panama to see if I wanted to live there. I am sorry to hear that you are encountering hurdles. Have you tried Facebook or WhatsApp groups to help?
It seems like a small valley and unfortunately there’s a golf course I can understand that’s a big hobby of some people, but somehow it seems like a big waste of land.
Wow loved your videos--new subscriber here for sure. I was wondering what do expats do for transportation there. What do you need to get a small car and a Panamanian driver's license? Or do most people use moped, etc? Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion. I didn’t see much on cerebral palsy in adults during my initial search. Did I miss something? 🧐
Do you know anything about laws regarding importing older used (restored) vehicles for personal use?
I am sorry but I do not. Just make sure that the parts are available for repairs.
Hello I am visually impaired and I also have cerebral palsy. I would like to find out more about bouquete Panama. My husband and I are thinking about moving there and maybe starting at B&B for the disabled. I don't know how well that would go over any information you could give me would be much appreciated.
Hi, Bridget! Thanks for watching. It is great meeting other people with CP who are considering moving to Panama. Unfortunately, I am not an expert on Boquete nor do I have information on the B&B market there or for the disabled. That said, I think that is a phenomenal idea that should be explored more for viability. I wish I could have been more help.
One of the many problems no one addresses is the Panamanian currency. Although Panama has its own currency (the Balboa), however, Panama also uses the U.S. dollar. The Balboa to U.S. dollar exchange rate is 1-to-1, which doesn't make since when it comes to GDP. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Panama was worth 52.94 billion US dollars in 2020. Compare that to the U.S. GDP in 2020 at l$20.93 trillion. So how did the 1-to-1 exchange rate balance off? Someone with subject matter expertise in economy explain this...
Jeez some of those restaurant prices seem a bit steep! Not a retirement destination for those whose priority is lower costs...
Large expat community, so gringo prices... But like most places, if you buy fresh produce at local markets and mainly cook at home, you can get much more for less!
Hey I wanna move to back to panama but I wanna know if the internet service go out there
I think they will depend on whet part of the country you are in. I haven’t had any issues with the internet.
Seems spread out, how is it if you don't have a car?
Do retirement visa have income requirements like most?
I'm living in china 4 years...awful
Yes great question
2:25 what are the relative living costs???
Hi, Jim. I am not sure what the living costs are like there now. I ended up choosing to move to Panama City.
great video. are there any nursing homes there or in David? Just in case.
Be careful tourists have gone missing never to be seen again look up the lost girls of panama they won’t tell you this because they don’t want to hurt tourism
I like forceful water pressure. If I get drip, drip, drip I'm out of there.
There’s a big highway like road that for walkers to get across there’s a huge bridge that you have to walk up a lot of steps and then walk down many steps at the other side. Is there any way for other people to get across those roads for walkers but don’t wanna walk up a lot of steps?
I am healthy and not handicapped, but I would say if I’m taking groceries up all the steps and I’m a little bit older, it’s sort of a problem.
I made that video over a year ago and can’t recall if the walkways had a ramp or not. I think some of them did but I haven’t been back to that part of Panama since then. If I go back, I will keep an eye out for that.
