  • Curious about moving to Panama? Have you wondered what it is really like living here? How have people changed since moving abroad?
Welcome to a three part series where I asked some of my friends about life here in Panama. Some topics covered in the series are moving as a married couple, starting businesses here, how life has changed, the pros and cons of living in Panama, medical care and more. Welcome to part one of the series.

Thank you for sharing perspectives from a few folks who have transitioned to Panama. Q: For a first time visit, would you recommend Airbnb in San Francisco or Casco Viejo?

Why do I pay a car toll to go Colon? Are there other areas a toll is paid? I paid no toll to go Coronado and Rio Hato.

If you're raising your kids in Panama and they're not in a private school it's tantamount to child abuse. Public schools here are rated in the lowest 20% internationally by OECD, just behind Egypt. A high school grad's public education is equivalent to a 7th grade education in OECD countries. Anecdotally ..... I was at a neighbor's house while their daughter was doing her homework at the kitchen table. She had a map of Central America with a list of country names, each in a different color. She was using crayons to color in the map with the color corresponding to the list. She was in the EIGHTH EFFING GRADE! But, they're avery warm and welcoming people, blah, blah, blah

Sadly not all private schools here are any better, definitely look at the curriculum that they are offering before enrolling them!
