Yeah, a lot of us don't really care about Pronouns too much, and the neutral ones usually work. Sometimes people put the ones they currently feel like using in their status/bio to make things easier too.

I’m a female that always plays as a male (Izuku Midoriya to be exact. I have +100 versions for a wardrobe 😎). I’m a modest tomboy, so I don’t really like the style of most female avatars in VRChat. 😅 I don’t struggle with identity at all. I’m a woman and aggressively straight. I ended up using Deku for the past 3 years because our personalities are rather similar, so I resonate with him. (Also, I much prefer looking at males than females, because I’m straight), and there is a difference between how people treat me in a public lobby as a girl in a girl avi vs a girl in a boy avi. Also, since he’s a main character, I have LOTS of variations of him for every occasion, which is fun~😁
As someone who used to expose predators for "fun" all I can say about the whole grooming situation is, it's horrible and it's so common. Now obviously not everyone you meet is one but I'm starting to see it's becoming more and more commonplace and the average person can't do much about it.
As far back as Halo 3 when I was 8 years old I chose female bodies for my characters/avatars. I'm not trans, I'm not hypersexual, It's just how I prefer to represent myself. It's welcoming, it's friendly. BUT There are some people who choose female avatars for some not so wholesome reasons though, you know what I'm talking about haha I think VR just makes degeneracy really easy while also being a great benefit for people who are trans. THE COST OF FREEDOM Also the cost of freedom is you having to have a painful move, hope the move goes well homie!
I always wanted to play VRC because I could have a girl avatar there and express myself with it. I always thought I was a femboy but eventually came out as trans after being brave and digging deeper. Glad you mentioned gender dysphoria, but there's also gender euphoria, which is the opposite. It's a very positive feeling triggered when your appearance matches your gender identity. Wearing a simple female Avatar can trigger this pretty strongly, explaining why VRC has so many trans people in the community. I can imagine it's very similar for furries and their "fursonas" I think they're called.
People shouldn't determine their gender identity based on how they like their virtual avatar. I have a female fursona because I think a woman's body is more attractive than a man's, that doesn't mean I'm actually female/should be trans.

Same if you are cis and hetero: you can't just suddenly become gay by choice.
As a trans , when I first played VRChat , I instantly used girl avatars. But at first , I wasn't sure that I was trans , like I was feeling bad in my body , I knew I didn't like looking like a dude , but VRChat helped me , and it just feel so good to use an female avatar and also to be less judge in VRChat than in real life. You can be more yourself and that just something amazing
We need more boy avatars, just casual ones, not emo. It feels weird to play as a girl avatar sometimes even though majority of VRChat is wearing girl avatars.
I generally have gravitated towards fem avatars since they tend to look better but also for the general comfort of others. Loading in as an eboy tends to make people far more nervous than a cute fem avatar, but that's just personal experience.

In VRC I'm more similar to a chinese tourist in Europe, I wander, analize the weird situations, take photos, sometimes I try to interact. Mostly using anime girl character for memeing, and bro... sometimes those huge tittays bouncing on me. I'll never laugh again when a girl complaining about them, sometimes i can't see shit when looking down. I think those who spent quite some time in VR Chat all know Walter. I met him accidentally when I first tried VRC 4 years ago and he slightly introduced me to the VR world, he explained that the more time a person spends in VR with a certain avatar, their personality begins to take on traits that match their VR body image and by how people treating that VR avatar. Now I slowly understand that, and how it can mess with the mind, so I'm just trying to keep it as an entertaining learning experience as a straight 32yo white guy who sometimes feeling cute. Peace.
from my first week I found and stuck with one avi for 2 years now. I'm male and the avatar I chose is female. Dunno, it just spoke to me and i thought "this is me". There were much better looking avatars but non of them clicked as much as this. That's about it. It just "clicked". And now I'm planning to have a zero-to-hero custom model made at some point with this current one as a reference.

With precision i took the panda base and added the head of an anonimus avatar called Abby,deleated the poyomi and added a few toggles,like a katana,a butterfly knife and a coin. And at tthe end i decided to rename it as Ace for the tatoo thath i added under the eyes. Ah,remember. Never work on an anonymus avatar it's a complete nightmare.
