So much pain! So great genius! Faithful Friend, greatest musician, composer, poet and just handsome person! Love you, sir Brian May! Miss! Cry!
Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Spike Edney on keyboards--An unsung hero for many, many years..❤ Bravo.
Thank you Spike.
Brian has a great voice, stop comparing him to freddie.
I would never presume to make that comparison, Kathleen for there is no comparison at all.
I agree. And that may be one of the things Freddie saw about "Smile" so many, years ago. What great musicians these guys were...We still love you Brian!
Even when comparing them, Brian is my favorite singer. Technical superiority isn’t everything :)
Compare with Freddie, I am assuming you do not mean Freddie Mercury the great vocalist and rock god!
The only song Brian sang better than Freddie
3:17 *Damn that emotions*
To the second, amazing with the live sound. Those three notes...
No one can make a guitar SPEAK like this, no one...

and I have to admit you may be right! Absolutley stunning! I guess I'm a bit biased when it comes to Brian, shouldn't have put it like that then. Maybe "speak to me" would be a more accurate way to express it. But thank's for the suggestion!
This song makes my heart hurt...you can hear the emotion in every word. If you've ever been through a nasty, nasty breakup (and I recently emerged from a 17-year relationship with a very abusive, self-destructive partner), you FEEL this song on so many levels. To see someone headed down a bad path, and you can't save them, that's the worst feeling in the world, but sometimes you have to let them go in order to go forward. Sorry for the personal tangent, but this song really reaches into my soul.
I feel your pain, and Brian’s.
I love this song and love to hear Brian May sing. Everything about it--voice, guitar, and words scream pain.
Man, the raw emotion in his vocals and his guitar!!!-it takes a lot of courage to put something so personal out there like this! Or maybe, it was cathartic to express himself. At any rate, I love it and I commend Brian May for his courage to put it all out there.

band..........................
That's just Brian for ya. ;)
Freddie was an advantage over Brian when singing this particular song. Going thru a divorce, with children, after a long-term love affair with his mistress/future wife, him and some people OUTSIDE Queen wrote the song. Freddie didnt have the emotional attachment to the words. Every time Ive seen Brian perform this live, his emotions tear him up.
Dave Suchy what is a mistress?
Brian first publicly sang this at the Freddie Tribute concert. By then - April 1992 - it had gained additional meaning. As others have said, there is Freddie-related resonance. It's also possible that Brian was worried about Freddie when he wrote it - at some level. But for sure it's partly about Brian's own experience and pain.

Why would it be an advantage to NOT have an attachment to the words? Emotions it's what this song is all about, don't you think?
@@Daniela_Germany it’s a fine line. You can’t sing if you’re choked up (or at least it’ll sound terrible).
This is why Dr. Brian May is the #1 guitarist of all time. . .......sorry Hendrix and Page fans
Brian probably gets emotional with this song as he was married when he hooked up with Anita, whom he later married. Choosing between his lover and the one he left behind. Nice voice.
I can relate to this. Humans are complex creatures.. Why can't we stick to our soul mates...
Yet he still went ahead and broke his wife's heart, because of the other woman ,
victory victory - Because of more than that. Their lifestyle had drastically changed, going from Brian touring nine months a year to having that part of his life go away completely. His father died around that time, he was losing Freddie - Those are all drastic life changes and changes of such magnitude that have been known to kill many a marriage. I’m not convinced they would’ve stayed together even with Anita out of the picture.
Love doesn't come with instructions..
The unsung hero, master guitarist, master singer and writer of amazing songs. I loved Freddie but Brian is awesome and overlooked. If anyone disagrees watch this
You can't compare Brian & Freddie singing this song. Freddie sings it beautifully. Brian singing it is done with so much more feeling since he was the one going through it at the time of it being written. Coming from deep in his heart & his emotions are heard in his voice. Brings one to tears 😢💔💞
I can feel that Brian May is still hurting for the lost of Freddie when ever i listen to his version : ((
;c

band.....................
Bartosz Kęcik wow..................
Bartosz Kęcik hello......................
Brian may is such a talented musician
this is a wonderul, gut-wrenching perofmance by Bri. It's a song that takes on a whole new meaning when freddie sings it but they are both great versions. the young brian was so dispassionate in his stage persona, whatever he went through here made him into the man he is today. brave for singing it, brave for living it.
He never ever was dispassionate in his stage persona, thank you very much.
May God bless you sir Brian May! Much love from RUSSIA ❤
This is one of my absolute favorite versions of Brian May’s heartbreaking song.
Brian sounds so good in this song. And of course, his guitar just screams.
Brian & Freddie is the best partner in writing queen's song
Everyone in Queen wrote at least one hit
Just beautiful
I love this song
I love Brian's voice. ♥
My God! Just when I believe I don't have anymore years to cry for loss of Freddie, I find, once again, I'm wrong.
Brian, my sweet, dear man, the emotion in your voice is SO powerful, I'm hurting for us both! I sometimes feel it so strongly I can barely breathe. But then I try to think a bit more like I believe he would and say "get on with it!! Don't let another year fall on my account, go out and luve!
this is what epic sounds like...
Beautiful but heart wrenching to watch him sing this song, can see it is tearing him up emotionally !
We all know he eventually left his wife fir Anita ,but his wife can always say this song is about her and the pain he is going through ,at that time .
Brian's masterpiece!!! Beautiful!!!
3:07 AWESOME

hi.......................
👌
A M A Z I N G!!!!
This makes me cry. I love his voice and he is a great guitarist and singer. Brian is wonderfull.
Amazing job, Brian. Brings tears to my eyes.
Inaczej niż Freddie ale bardzo , bardzo PIEKNIE. Wzruszyłam.sie...❤❤
This one's for you, Dad. I hope you're resting peacefully.
i'd take raw and emotional singing voice than autotuned/lip-sync "artists" anyday. Brian's voice is magnificent.
So amazing Brian!
idol..............
ok................
His voice sounds a bit more forced/not as effortless as Freddie's, but it is very beautiful and expressive, all the same. And he can make that guitar TALK - beautiful. This song hurts. And I can't quit listening to it.
wow......................
styx & queen band ok........................
candiemerald Brian actually has a naturally low voice, so it's impressive that he's even hitting the notes.
In fact I think he goes up to C5 in the recording, which even if you're real good for a classically trained solo vocalist, is impressive.
Why do you need to compare him to Freddie. Brian is his own person and his voice is spectacular also.
they kept this performance in theirs mind, no phone, no blitz phone, just enjoy, contemplating and full of appreciation.
Brian has such a beautiful voice. His speaking voice is pure ASMR and then he writes and performs such rockers!
Still just as fresh and amazing as it was 7 months ago to me Thanks Queen! Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor & John Deacon. Spike Etney, Rufus Taylor, all involved and especially all you for watching!
Exactly. I would never say this for any song Freddie's sung, but Brian's is just as good if not better.
amazing. gave me goosebumps all over!
Wow....between what happened to Freddie and the nasty breakup with his first wife, the lyric says everything! Bri makes that guitar almost speak to us - when he had it in his hands, it nearly made him whole.
Unbelievable performance, Brian...and I love your voice! You couldn't get one more drop of feeling into it.
You are an amazingly gifted man! A rockstar, songwriter, gifted musician, benefactor, nature-loved AND a major brainiac, all packaged in a very handsome wrapping!! Whew!!! Where do you find time to eat??
Love you, my friend!
Chills.
nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok.................
😞
Wow. I just realised I am responding to a comment left by.....me! That's a bit tricky....do I go on with it and appear to have some sort of mental defect? Or I could begin with "I want to expand on my thoughts in the previous comment?" I'll go with this:
I was watching Brian's body language and facial expressions. It is very clear how much Bri and Freddie meant to each other and it hurts my heart to see Brian so caught up. I can't help but wonder how many times he tried to perform this song and was simply unable to get through it. Watching Bri singing it even now still brings me to tears.
Thank you, Brian. I luv you my friend. 😢😥
the killer guitar..my favourite person.
Brian's crumbling marriage, his attraction to Ania Dobson, the death of Freddie, & the death of his father was definately alot to go thru, at the same time.
Brian has always had a great voice.
Fucking Hell!!! I thought this would be shit, but what a beautiful voice!! GO ON BRIAN!!!..
You sound wonderful Brian!
If there is such a thing as singing one's heart out, than this is it! I'm floored.
Roger would, His voice is awesome. All 3 have awesome voices.
Brian May is much to modest, i love Brian en Queen. This song brings me to tears. 😢 it's so beautiful.
Beautiful ❤️
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. I had not seen it. Brian is such an amazing writer. We rarely got to see him sing in Queen. I love this song, it doesn't matter to me if Brian sings or if Freddie does :)
Grandioso Dr. Brian May !
Just seen this for the first time... Now I know how it feels to be completely blown away by something... #jawonthefloor

Beautiful voice & you can almost feel his emotions when he is singing. Makes your cry thinking of his pain & hurt. You just wish you can hold him & tell him everything is going to be fine.🤔🥰

Great!
'Every way I go I have to loose' just my life at the moment 😔
Brian est comme toujours un torrent d'émotions et moi je pleure ....
Ce mec est génial. Je l'adore et je l'admire
Why i cry to listen this song
Long live Freddie!
Sure does😩💔💔💔💔💔
Quite a lovely song and moving too! Hasn't too much love killed a few of us? Try it out and U will see!
The song did have had meaning for Brian, but to say Freddie didn't have an emotional attachment to this song is very incorrect. The words also implies impending pain suffering and death. All which Freddie knew was his fate when this song was recorded. I think the difference in delivery of this song is voice range and tone quality. both men incredibly talented have different ways of showing emotion in the vocal performance. Could Brian have been thinking about Freddie and what he when thru? yes
❤
Linda música.
Ты прекрасен,Мэй!!!
🎸👌💛
Exellent....Spike Edney on keyboards.....Brian rocks
🎵🎵🎼🎼✌✌❤❤😘😘😢😢
A great tour, put on a far better performance than I gave him credit for.
