    I'm so glad that three are more dyslexic content because it tends to be overlooked in the neurodivergent community 🥰🥰🥰

    I only really visualize things in 2D (kinda like a cartoon) despite having the ability to visualize things in 3D pretty well, IDK why lol

    Wait so if dyslexic people think in 3D, is it safe to assume hyperlexic people struggle with 3D thinking? I have some new topics to read up on lessgo

    • @shadowfox933
      @shadowfox933 Před 2 lety +6

      From my experience with hyperlexia, I can tell you the answer to that question is "no." While I'm sure there are some who do have problems like that, not all of us are like that. I'm also quite sure that some dyslexic people might have trouble with 3D thinking, but that is just educated speculation on my part

      @@stillalivestillreal actually, the term "hyperlexia" is actually the misnomer here. The reason for that is that the Greek prefix "hyper" generally translates to "more" or "beyond" rather than "advanced" or something of that sort. "Hypo" generally means "less" or "lower" in translation, but "dys" applies a more precise meaning, that being "worse" or perhaps "not." In context, "dyslexia" refers to a condition of "worse reading," which makes a great deal of sense, but I don't readily know of a prefix that etymologically means the opposite of "dys." That is probably why the term "hyperlexia" is what has become popularized. I would have to refresh myself on Greek etymology to know for sure, though

      But how do people think in 3D? I don't understand. I struggle with 3D visualisation and have always been curious as to what actually happens, or what's it like. Can someone please explain?

      i mean- i’m hyperlexic and probably autistic(hyperlexia is a possible symptom of autism, plus i show more symptoms other than that) so i honestly just tried to think in 3D(i took it literally and “thought in 3D”) lol it’s tiring and confusing for me but idk lol

    Things I want people to know about dyslexia you know how words move on pages for dyslexics. Well, popcorn ceilings, road stripes and stone rock patterns can also move it's kind of disturbing.

    My dad has dyslexia (which is wild, because he was a very successful computer programmer for many years), but none of us kids have it. My sister though, she's currently being tested for ADHD. Me? I haven't been diagnosed with shit*, probably because I don't like going to the doctor.
    *I haven't been diagnosed with any mental disorders, neurodivergencies, etc. I do have epilepsy though, which is fun (it's very not fun)

    Thanks to these videos, I'm learning there's so many names for the things I do and learn more that I'm not alone. Like Dyspraxia. That explains why I pick up catchphrases and whatnot from tv shows and youtubers. I picked up "balls" from Supernatural back in 2015 and haven't been able to drop it and I say it as a knee-jerk reaction all the time lmao.

    So- at first i thought i couldn’t be dyslexic, i was SO GOOD at reading…
    now i know better… i’ve just memorized words due to my parents reading to me so much… i can’t spell, write properly/neatly, i struggle typing words correctly, i experience a LOT of the symptoms and looking at words i notice that the letters that look similar are all spinny- or the e’s are flipped- or the r’s are sideways(i just kinda see a line with a little nubbin)- you know?
    So i might be-
    i was talking to my dyslexic friends and notice how i experience a lot of the stuff they do-
    any websites for tests to see if i should search for a diagnosis?

    0:14 I'd be interested _why_ exactly that is. Because I know I don't have dyslexia, but I've personally always had trouble converting what I see on the clock into words. Probably a consequence of not taking maths that seriously back in primary school. I way prefer digital time and saying the time like "eight-nine" (8:09) and "ten-thirty-two (10:32) and I will do that for analogue time. I hate the backwards stuff you do with "() _to_ ()". It's a little quirk about me. :)
