- Hello Book Friends! I’m Jen and welcome to My Reading Life. I am so excited to be here and to connect with all of you book lovers. If you follow me on Bookstagram, thank you for joining me over here on this new endeavor of mine. If you have found me through the magic of CZcams, I am so glad you are here. For my first video, I thought I would take part in the Booktube Newbie Tag so you could get to know a little bit about me and my reading life.

I’m 54 with a very large TBR. I often wonder if I’ll get them all read before I die! I better live to 110 since I keep adding to it.

Lol...oh my goodness! Well, I'm very flattered but I am definitely 50, not 15!
How nice to meet you! Happy you are 50, I feel book tube needs more " older" women. Nothing wrong g w/ the 20's, 30's people, but most tend to read the fantasy ( Sarah Maas, etc.) bks. Nothing wrong w/ those for some, but I like more of the types you mentioned. Gina Stanyer is someone you might enjoy. She got me interested in Rosamund Pilcher. Loved Winter Solstice! Bought more of her bks. haven't read yet. Another good U-tube is Miranda Mills. She is in England, her channel is very interesting. Her Mom is often on and when they go off for the day, take us w/ them!!😊😊. I am an avid reader and started reading as a child to escape. I LOVE Pippi Longstocking!! I read Little Women at 8/10? and it remains my absolute, all ti.E favorite book! I re-listened read it about every 3 yrs. I collect copies of it. I grew up in Massachusetts, Lexington where the American Revolutionary War started. ( NOT Concord). Very familiar w/ Concord also. All the great writers from there! I have been in Alcott as house so often I could give the tours😊. Being my VERY FAVORITE author I have many bks. about her. Looking forward to your channel. 😊
I love both Gina and Miranda's channels and have been watching them both for a long time! Little Women is fantastic! I visited Orchard House about 20 years ago and absolutely loved seeing it in person. I actually have a couple of books on my shelves that I purchased while I was there.

Jen, thank you for sharing your fondness for reading. My great grandfather taught me to read out of his Bible ( which I still have). I got a certificate in first grad four reading 100 or more books. I really love to read. I like mysteries, cozy mysteries and a lot of stuff. I’m glad you started this channel. Many blessings.

Problem is, he just wants me to re-read Wings of Fire and Percy Jackson to him over and over and over. I'm so ready for something new! Looking forward to your lovely videos in the future!
My son rereads the same things over and over again too! He mostly reads to himself these days but it wasn't so long ago that I was right where you are! I'll be posting about more middle grade books during Middle Grade March for sure! Maybe I'll convince my son to come on at some point and share his favorite books.

Absolutely loved your list of your childhood favorite books! I have always loved Caddie Woodlawn and I'm looking forward to reading it again soon. I actually just reread Mixed Up Files this week and I am planning to read through all the Newbery Award winners over the next three years as I sprinkle them in between my other reads.
I think I'm going to reread Caddie Woodlawn for Middle Grade March! I would love to read all the Newbery's. I think that's a great project to work on!

You had me at Judy Blume! But seriously, I loved those as a young teen myself, and I’m tempted to go back and visit them out of nostalgia. I, too, am about to turn fifty so I can understand wanting to start this channel and do something just for you. I’m really looking forward to more videos because your love of British mysteries has me feeling so good, it’s rare for me to follow booktubers who have a similar taste in reading to me (even though I still love their channels and videos, but I just know that my reads are not the same as theirs). Welcome to BookTube from another 50+ BookTuber. Love to see videos about women writers and their books. I’m currently reading women filmmakers in early Hollywood and was surprised at the fact that in the silent film era women thrived in the film industry. They are almost all forgotten now.

I am50, I promise! ;) I didn't knit the sweater, it's from Loft. I can knit simple things (like scarves) but definitely not a sweater! It is one of my favorites though.

Saw your channel mentioned on one of Kate Howe’s posts and so glad that I decided to check it out. I would have thought you were in your 30’s if not younger if you never mentioned your age 😁. I’m still holding on tight to my 40’s and it’s so nice when I find booktubers that are mature not necessarily in age but in personality. Looking forward to your videos.

I have a few favorites videos that will be upcoming where I will share a synopsis and why I love the books so please keep an eye out for those!
I loved Alexander too. 😊 Our copy, however had a terrible, no good, very bad smell that obviously had something to do with the printing chemicals. My siblings and I still loved the book, however, and read it many times, always taking a whiff to see if there were any improvements, but sadly, there never were! 😂

Great video! It’s hard to believe it’s your first time. I’m thrilled that it sounds like you like the same type of books that I do! Other than the middle grade, I read all of those. The older British women’s fiction is my favorite! I love D. E. Stevenson, Molly Clavering, Elizabeth Fair and so many others. I also enjoy mysteries, especially the golden age mysteries. I’m excited to have another BookTuber with these interests to follow. I have a few BookTubers that I really enjoy that are very much aligned with my interests. But there’s certainly room for more, as I’m usually watching for their next one to come out. I’ve started reading Miss Read’s Thrush Green series as my bedtime comfort read. Have you read her?
We seem to have very similar reading tastes! I haven’t read any Miss Read but I have a few of her books on my shelf that I need to get to! She seems so very cozy!
@@jensreadinglife Miss Read is a super cozy read. I’ve only read from the Thrush Green series so far. It has the same basic characters (give or take) throughout. Simple stories but very sweet. Just the thing if you’ve had a stressful day or a nice read at the end of any day. ❤️
