- It is time (finally) for a tour of my reading room! This is my first attempt at doing a vlog style video and, well, let's just say I'm still learning! I hope you enjoy!

What a wonderful reading oasis! I can see why it’s your favourite room in the house. My favourite room in the house isn’t actually a room. It’s the front porch. And it’s my favourite place to read. It’s quite tiny but it overlooks my little garden, and I have many critter friends (birds, chipmunks and more)🐦🐿 who come by to drink water and visit me. The only time of year I don’t use the porch is during the cold Canadian winter. During that time, I curl up with a cuppa tea near the living room window and get cozy.

I wish I had a front porch to read on! A porch swing is part of my dream house. Your description sounds like perfection! And I will be sharing a bookshelf tour soon. 😊
😍😍 wow!!! so beautiful room, especially that Bed side window with nice trees. You can not read "Disturbing" books for sure. That Coffee-table should have positioned somewhere, little uncomfy holding book in LH & trying to pick up coffeee from RH leaning towards left. Happy reading Jen!!

I wold love to see every book in your house! I also sit Down w/A cup of tea in my recliner ! N my tiny livingroom in tiny apt. My former hose, people told me it looked like I live in a library n tearoom. Always had a kitchen that was blue, yellow and whie, Fave combo!. So happy you filmed today as I am in hospital, surgery yesterday morn. Unfortunately it fails due to last surgeon who did the Rt. Shldr. Replacement 4 yrs. ago. This surgeon wasfantastic, did many things the first did no. Got great are pre_op, post op, this floor not So. Just awful and they ARE NOT UNDER STAFF, I asked. Thanks Jenn this cheered mw. Will be in for awhile. Can not all or text but wanted to do this one and it took forever. Just LOVE your Reading room. Looks just like "YOU"! 🤗🤗😁

I love your reading room! I usually read on my sofa with cushions at my back and my feet up. I saw two Georgette Heyer novels on (I think) your not read yet shelves. She is one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend any of her novels. And I love the music you used - it was a lovely vlog.
Thank you so much! The Georgette Heyer books are some of her mysteries. I’ve read a couple of her romances as well and really enjoy her writing!

Such a nice place to read! My favorite reading spot is in the shade of the maple tree on a summer afternoon. Other than that, I read everywhere!😊

Hi! What a lovely space. I too have a lovely space that used to be the kids room! I was quite ill about 10!years ago and my husband was off work looking after me and he renovated the room and made built in bookcases for me. I too have my favourite little things and memories. I always feel better when I sit in that room. Thanks for the tour and yes, would be interested in any tours you feel appropriate. ❤🇨🇦

I have an office ( still working from home ) that is also my own little reading room/library. I do have to say it's not holding ALL of my books 😳 I do love videos of the slow scan of book shelves - who doesn't add a couple to their wish list off viewing these kinds of videos!? 😊 hope the weather cools down a bit for you over there in CA - have a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on that Sue Townsend book - I haven't read it yet. Jacqueline
It sounds like there is lots of interest in a close up tour of my shelves so that will be coming! I really enjoyed the Sue Townsend book and will share my thoughts in my June wrap up. 😊
@@jensreadinglife I'd found a few other Sue Townsend books, 'Queen Camilla' and 'Number 10' used and couldn't resist. Have you ever read anything by Dee MacDonald? found a couple of hers also - loved the covers! 'The Silver Ladies of Penny Lane', 'The Golden Oldies Guest House' and 'The Getaway Girls'. You might like them. 🙂

Really nice reading room, Jen. I was definitely looking to see if I could encourage you to read any of the books you have-The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a very clever book. I can not imagine living her life, whoever she meets forgets her if they turn their back on her and walk away. It's as if they have never met. It's like the Groundhog Day movie. People never remember her. How sad. I did not think the ending was a good resolution but the whole story intrigued me. What could possibly be done to resolve people's forgetfulness of her? I could not come up with anything myself.

We live in a fairly compact apartment - I read on my loveseat in our small living room, or on the balcony when the weather is good. I also read on trains, buses or trams here in Switzerland, as they're pretty quiet. Sometimes I like to read in coffeeshops, too. Thanks again, Jen, for the tour 😊
Those all sound like wonderful reading spots! I’ve always wanted a window seat to read in so my chaise is the closest I think I’ll get (at least in this house). I’ll be sharing a close up tour of my shelves soon!
This is so fun! I love the colors. We have the same annotated Emma! Your chaise longue looks so comfy! Definitely interested in those other videos! I love sitting in my comfy rocking/swiveling chair in the corner of my living room by two big windows.

I made a reading nook in a corner of my dining room. I bought a comfy chair and ottoman, a little table, a plant, and some cute pictures for my wall above the chair from Etsy. It is very cozy and doesn’t make the dining area any smaller. Love it.

I see why it’s your favourite room in the house Jen. Very lovely and cozy. I’ve always wanted a chaise lounge, maybe someday soon. I have a lovely leather wing back chair in the corner of my living room where I can be found with my feet up reading a mystery 😉
A wingback chair sounds lovely and cozy! We had one in the house I grew up in and I used to curl up in it and read all the time!

It sounds like lots of people want a bookshelf tour so that will be coming! The closet is just filled with normal closet stuff because storage space in our house is limited! 😂
I really thought your reading room had two rooms to it... and then realized it was just the mirrors on your closet door 😅 This room looks so cozy and inviting.

Very nice and cozy 😊. I also have a reading room, where I do most of my reading, but I have many reading spots around the house because I need to change rooms when I start to feel tired or worn out. I have reading spots in my bedroom, living room, study and media room (besides the reading room) with armchairs and bookcases or book carts in all of them 🤦🏻♀️

I really enjoyed your tour! What a beautiful room, so inviting! How many hours a day do you get to read on your chaise lounge? Do you work out side the home? How do you balance your regular life and your reading life? I love your taste in books and reading rooms. Valerie
I should do a Q&A video and answer these questions! 😁 I usually read about an hour or two a day in this room. Depending how busy I am. I’m a SAHM so my schedule is somewhat my own. I do also read while I’m eating breakfast and lunch (usually alone) and when I get in bed at night so that adds to my reading time. And I squeeze in audiobooks when I’m in the car and on my walks and doing housework. And it ebbs and flows as life does. Family life is first but reading is a close second for me! 😊

Thank you! The bookcases are from IKEA but they’ve been discontinued. They were part of the LIATORP line.

Is the chaise comfy?
It’s not the most comfy piece but the extra pillow helps. I’ll probably upgrade it at some point in the future but it’s definitely good enough for reading and napping on (which I frequently do!). 😊
