I have the 2019 model, absolutely love it.
The clutch is heavy but I've got used to it, it's not terrible.
It get's warm but never overheats, butt warmer in winter, a bit uncomfortable in summer.
    HOWEVER
In the UK, suzuki SV650 is 6k, MT07 and CB650r is 7K, this thing is 8K.
I also needed it for my A2 license, max 94hp bike, which this fits.
Low power, V twin, multi-level traction control, ABS, rider modes, mine was the first year to come with navigation aids to so I can pair it with my phone and get turn by turn navigation, very cruiser like when it needs to be, plenty of power on the motorway for me, but you can chuck it in the twisties, all for 1k more than the rest of the cheap-ish bikes.
Also the pops don't stop, they are fun as hell.
I think many people don't care because the only people to buy Aprilia are racers and fan boys, they don't want a cruising naked bike.

This bike its absolutely underrated, I have one, and its super polivalent to do some confortable trips and to do some hard rutes to. It has a juicy and powerful 5500 rev range, for me its a super flexible bike. I thiink that aprilia in 2007 when launch the base of this model model (the750), put the best of his components to compite agains kawasaki z800 and fz07(mt07) in mid range sports naked market but the not that daering aesthetics and the less instagramability than the competitors make this model a failure... I think its a super sad history but the people that have one and knows how apreciate it, knows that has betwen her legs an absolutely versatile unicorn!!

I have a real soft spot for Italian bikes. When I pulled into work on my Moto Guzzi V7, a coworker started telling me about the Shiver 750 he used to have that was the perfect yin to his Ducati's yang. Going fast on a sport bike is great, but a good twin is satisfying in an entirely different way.

So I have a 2013 shiver 750 (same bike with smaller bore) and I’ve had it since 2018, when I bought it with 88 miles . It’s awesome man! You said a lot of the things that I think are awesome about it. The reason there’s really no content about it is because it’s incredibly rare and niche in the US, but it’s a great bike. I’ve ridden it back to back with a lot of the bikes in the middle weight category and they’re definitely faster and lighter, but the motor is more enchanting for some reason and the frame/suspension feel more premium in corners.
But there’s no question, mama runs HOT.
    Edit: clarity

I've got this bike for a few years now, and i've been quite happy with.
It's a little heavier than another naked bike but it's super confortable, no problem on the highway and a very nice sound :)
And another plus for those in europe that look for a bike for the A2 permit, it's usually less costly to remove the limitation on that bike than on other :)

    • @PedoBear1811

@@Fee.1 It's a "supermoto" in heavy quote's with a street engine that is also heavy. It's officially classified as a supermotard. It's a street bike that handles much more like a supermoto then it does a regular naked.

@@PedoBear1811 like a hyper motard? How do those bikes handle Highway or interstate speeds rather ? Like around 80 and certainly beyond that my Z400 feels like the front wheel is gliding. Feel like I need to press down on the front. I don’t, like I can ride it at 100 and still be fine but it definitely doesn’t FEEL locked in place when going high speeds like that. Curious if a bike like this is better or worse in that regard. I assume “like a super moto “ means that it excels in low down torque and also handles superbly in corners but fizzes out around higher revs ? But since these aren’t super motos and have bigger motors they theoretically should do great and not fizzle out up top? Idk just trying to figure them out. Thanks for the input

    • @PedoBear1811
      @PedoBear1811 Před 2 lety +2

@@Fee.1 I have never ridden a hyper motard so i can't say. I have the dorsoduro 750 my self. And have owned supermoto's. It's a v twin just like the shiver and it's definitely a more low rev torque machine but it can accelerate pretty good no matter what rev range you are in, the torque on this bike is something else. It's the most happy at around 4k revs. It can go to 10k revs. It's one of those bikes that wants you to ride it fast and it handles high speeds relatively fine. Speed limit in my country is 120km which is like 75 miles but it can go up to 220km or 136 miles. Personally i have ridden max 185 km or 114 miles. It can do this speed "fine" but you do start to feel that you would want a steering stabilizer which i don't have. Definitely no problem with the front wheel or anything like that. What i mean by supermoto feel is a couple of things. The looks. It just looks like one, plain and simple. the seat height is much taller then your standard naked, just like a supermoto would be. Much wider handle bars again just like a supermoto. The seat is also more flat designed for you to be able to easily move back and forth on once again just like you would want to do on a supermoto. Everything about this bike is designed to corner with it. It's a bike you would want to take to the twisty roads that's where this bike shines at. But that also has a one draw back. Wind. You sit taller and you are wider. So you will catch more wind. But the fun factor is something you will not have on a regular naked vs this.

I owned a 2008 Aprilia shiver 750 in the orange color. It’s one of the few bikes that I definitely want to own again. I have a Suzuki SV 650 right now and I can tell you that the SV 650 is a more aggressive bike surprisingly but the shiver sounds way better and has a much nicer build quality overall there’s just something about the shiver and the way it sounds and feels to ride that is absolutely fantastic!!

I bought a 2016 shiver 750 as my first bike back in October. Wasn’t looking for one, it was just there at the dealer for a great price. Super cool sound with aftermarket pipes, unique ride, I love it but I don’t have anything to compare it to. As far as who is this bike for, well I think it’s a competitor to the Monster. It’s not a performance-oriented sport bike, just a cool, torquey, fun ride.

OC: I maybe speaking for myself but I feel y’all have focused so heavily on the high production quality that y’all have forgot about the fun factor. Like who wants to watch someone ride in rain mode? And the route is so vanilla. Traffic, traffic, highway traffic, the 1 long turn, back into traffic, then finally city traffic. Your first ride videos take the cake on production quality for sure but takes the cake on boringness too! We know you can make bad ass videos. Have some fun on your first rides because I’m still going to watch them.💜💜💜

I think it’s a nice bike that hasn’t followed the crowd so therefore making it a little different and not just another MT09!
Not seen many around which is a shamed as they have some nice detailing and lovely exhaust note with slip on end cans on. OC

  • @thailandmotortrips5019

I have an ‘08 750, and decat it and replaced the original exhaust (because it was so hot and heavy!) for a stainless Y-pipe with GRP slip on exhausts since then much more low down grunt pulling smooth from 1000 rpm and even on a hot summers day no problems with a overheating bum while waiting for a traffic light much much better now! I also installed an o2-sensor optimizer because stock they running much to lean because of emission regulations overhere that made the bike much smoother to ride and the plus side is that it uses a lot less gasoline now, i was looking for a MT07 but after test riding this bike am still so happy that I got the Aprilia Shiver instead. Where then MT07 stops pulling in higher RMP’s this bike start to pull even harder until the shift-lights start flashing and it is so stable in corners it gives you more trust to lean in and go flat (and it will do that so refined). Before I’d had only bike’s (mostly Honda’s) with 4 in line engines, but this is so much more fun to ride on the twisties and also in town because you never have to shift down for power it’s always there making it a faster bike around town and that engine break is incredible no need for breaking al the time just close the throttle is enough to slow down for the next corner (with some pops and bangs in the higher rpm’s range ;-) mine has more the 20.000km on it but runs like new, the next thing i want to install is a quick shifter then this bike is perfect for me. Absolutely loving it😃👍

For my European standards I think it doesn't corner that good, but that is subjective and may be fixed by other tyres. The engine and looks is why I got one, and man I am not disappointed!!! Sound, torque power!Yes the tank design is very good for grip, but tank capacity is to low for my taste. I love the traction control, if is very smooth. Also the lights at night are very bright and illuminate everything nicely. Yes it's rides incredibly hot. But even after coming from a near 120mph ride into stop and go it never overheated. I'm looking forward to installing the navigation feature and btw the battery charger you mentioned is a factory usb outlet, very nice! To give my 2 cents on reliability: at the 1000km checkup I had to get new front brakes because mine were wobbly, and I know how to break in. Warranty took care of it, and at 1500 km the clutch fails in higher gears, I am certain warranty will cover that too, is on the shop now.

But after the 10k dealership service it wouldn't start in cold mornings.
    Less than 8deg centigrade.
Couldn't find anyone besides the dealer who had experience fixing Apes.
Got to 20k service and valve clearance checks were due. Price was $1500. Ouch!
Was on a track day and a Yamaha dealer was offering test rides. Tested an mt10 and bought one a month later.
Best decision and i haven't looked back.
Won't buy another Aprillia because of reliability and service costs.

This bike is already not available anymore... Aprilia has launched the 660 and sadly the 900s vtwins had to go also due to the euro5 regulations... It's a great bike 750 was also... But very underestimated.

It was discontinued in Europe due to emissions standards, it’s also only rated around 95hp from a 900cc so people ignored it. I looked at one myself, it was cheaper than a street triple R and Z900 when it was released. The headlight ruined it’s looks though.

  • @someguyontheinternet7165

Aprilia's RS and Tuonos (both 660 and v4 variants) might be gems but I dont see a point in this. Why not just get an MT09 or Z900? Less power, less comfortable heat wise, more weight, more expensive and likely less reliable.
    Seems like a miss.
It's sort of a miss in a every way.

Shiver? Is it made in India or something? I love me some Indian bikes too bad Indian bike makers don't love Africa that much, anyway I love the sound of the bike but more still I love the looks, I just wish they had it in a lower cC, you know one that doesn't need modes, see I am an African so I am all for squishing out as much fun as you can have on a budget.

@@tjey379 India?! It's Aprilia, Italian! It is available with 750cc used. And what's with the talk about Africa? There is a Africa twin by Honda, and there are some Indian manufacturers who specifically make bikes for Africa for like 500 bucks...

@@cptfrecell Appreciated! I thought that "Shiva" was like the Indian god then that that would be a strong statement in the bikes name and that's why I thought that it could have been made by a subsidiary eg Aprilia India, and about lower cC even 500cc in my country is a little too expensive for the average brother for example right now I would be lucky if my budget got me a Chinese 300cC but if it looked as good as this bike it would be worth it. Like I said India makes great 150 to 300cC bikes but I have had a nightmare of a time finding them in the "Ugandan" market. I really appreciate your interest. Thanks.👍👍

I had a 2008 Shiver 750 with akra pipes, i sold it and wanted to buy an mt07 or triumph then after a year i ended up buying a 2012 Shiver 750 again with akra pipes. Men oh man, i love this thing, easy to do maintenance never had an serious issue with it and what i love is that is so rare. It's such a beautiful bike in person and sounds awesome.
