OC: Buy a used one in a couple years! I say you pick up a Multistrada at MotoCorsa in Portland and then ride the coast all the way to Ducati NA in Sunnyvale.
This is my first Ducati. Primarily owned and raced sports bikes, my last one being a 2000 Honda RC51. Never been an iron butt rider, but done some medium travel on the RC torture seat after putting back on all of the street gear. Moved to electric, purchased a used 2017 Zero DSR, and really enjoyed it. Amassed a few thousand miles in 19 months. Waited to see what Zero would release with their current DSR/X. Looked at the Energica Experia too. Each of those bikes is around the same price as the MS V4S. When I compared the features of the MS V4S to both the Energica and Zero there is NO COMPARISON. As an ex-road racer, I'm a real bitch about suspension, brakes, and tire pressure. Being able to adjust suspension WITH AN EFFING JOYSTICK on the fly is mind-bending to me. The only adjustment on suspension that requires a wrench is the front fork preload on the right fork leg top.
Like you I was a bit nervous about the adaptive cruise control. First, because I've never owned a bike with any cruise control let alone adaptive that uses radar. I'm getting use to it, but it still freaks me out a bit even if it works well. The blind spot radar should now be required on ALL MOTORCYCLES. Yes I still head check, but man since the rear radar contemplates how fast an approaching vehicle is traveling it's really great. I feel the blind spot radar is 'adaptive' based on how it contemplates a vehicle's approaching speed. Yep 25k is a ton of money. But then again so is 6+ a gallon here in the SF Bay Area. Worked my entire life to put two kids through college and save my pennies for the future. Well the future is now so I figured WTF am I waiting for? Lucked out and bought the dealer's demo 2022 MS V4S Sport that has a cool color scheme too; black/red/white with a carbon front fender and Akropovic slip on exhaust as standard on that model.
She's a heavy girl for sure and since I'm 5-8 with a 30" inseam I bought the lower seat which works well. Pushing the suspension button to set the rear preload to MIIN is great. Can disengage it by pushing it again or when the bike goes over 70MPH. I write for Web Bike World and will be doing a full written review for them. I want to clock at least 1k miles before doing so. There is SO MUCH to cover on an actual owner's review, but I feel it will help others. One thing I hate? The Ducati Connect app combined with the Sygic navigation POS.
I vote for Ducati to loan you a bike you can take on a 2 thousand mile trip! I named my bike Joy. I'm sure you know why.
I had the last model and the suspension would adjust based on speed. Super soft at low speed then firm up as the speed increased. Awesome bike.
Instead of the 40-80, how about a safe and responsible 70-140? sounds good to me
40-80😑
lmfao, the immature child inside of me says "HELL YES" but I'd like to extend my life expectancy. lol
@@chaseontwowheels but the wife next to you says otherwise amirite
@@chaseontwowheels Yeah, tickets cost money, money costs time.
Love your honest and playful way of reviewing motorcycles. I can afford having a motorcycle yet, so seeing your videos is so far my way to enjoy it. Please keep making them.
Never heard of the model the driver was talking about. The bike that saved Ducati was the Monster. The success of that model gave them the resources to develop the post 916 Superbikes, Hypermotards, and the 1st gen. Multistrada.
A rider in your Georgia area probably has the most miles on MS V4, he tour all over the country with no issues. Ducati do not lend high cost bikes for long-term review in this current market. Awesome review 👍🏽
i love your reviews. Spot on again thanks
Trip: North Georgia mountains, Blueridge Parkway to Mt. Washington, NH with Vermont scenery. Twisties, straights, and everything in between…” many roads!”
Man, i love your videos. Im going to own a bike someday and your vids steered me from cafe racers to big bikes.
Happy to hear our videos helped you out!
Chase - thx love ur first rides =)
Great video, good job!
Nice vid Chase, please do a first ride / review on the 950 or V2 S as well
Another cool feature those bikes have is blind spot monitoring in the mirrors
Must be one of the best bikes currently in production.
Definitely top 3 if not pole position.
With tech and price to match of course...
Had to get one. Traded in my 2010 Multistrada 1200S Touring with over 50K miles for a new Aviator Gray V4S Multi. Loved my old Multi. Love key new one too. Can’t wait until spring.
Had a Streetfighter V4 for the passed three years love it to bits looking at the Multistrata V4 for more touring wish I could afford both what a pair they would make
Take the multistrada up the mountains in Colorado. Haha!
It just bought a 2022 from MMS in Roswell. It's incredible. Great service from their entire team. Will have the 621 miles for first service completed within a few more days. I had a BMW s1000XR a few years ago and the Multi V4S should be compared to that and not the BMW r1250gs imo. The multi very much has the panigale on stilts with comfort and touring features feeling. thats how the XR felt too. the only demerit for me about the otherwise incredible MSV4S is it's HORRIBLE gas mileage. But it's a Ducati, so its nice to get off every 150 miles or so to cool off anyway.
OC Chase, you can trade in your MT 10 as a down payment on the multi-Strada
Yeah, the MT-10 is the old model anyways ;P
Perfect movie, thanks.
What is this music under the beginong od movie pictures?
I have a 950s multi, i can say i'm glad i did not ride the v4 before i rode the 950s....i'd be in wayyyy more debt than i am now...although i did get a helluva deal on my 950....i love the the skyhook suspension, it works great......
Right hand grip will be warmer because you don't take that hand of the grip when riding.
When you take your hand off the grips are cooled by the air flowing over them.
The longer engine service interval is down to a different valve train.
Chase did you like this better than the 1260s which you claimed to be your favourite bike / best production motorcycle at the time of riding ?
My plan this winter is to get a multistrada… but before it leaves the building it’s getting the racing exhaust installed
Love the Brian Cameo at 1:37
How dare you Chase, now I want one 👍❤️
Pikes peak would you also tour also long distance
How is the handle bar vibration in higher speeds?
My S1000 hates Neutral, i apply pressure when im coming to a stop so when the bike isnt moving it just slides into neutral smoothly
Hoping you can review the new Aprilia Tuono V4 Base model to compare the two.
Can you please do a full review of the Forcite helmet? I've been waiting to see how it went
Yea, we are totally behind on that video. It's coming though.
Need some two up rides on these type of bikes.
Go ride the 950s, curious if the multistrada love translates to the baby one
I dont have a motorcycle license or the money to buy this but this video makes me want one :)
OC Been binging your First Rides...I dont even own or know how to ride Motorcycles... I want to but Im broke :{ ... I guess I just watch to experience it XD
OC: For what you're paying it absolutely delivers what you want. But for like 26k I think I'd definitely get a different Ducati like a Panigale. Then complain that it runs hot. But for touring it's gotta be damn near impossible to beat.
Hey Chase! I hope Mountain Motorsport has an Aprilia RS660 so you can do a first ride one it
OC Would love to see you do a cross country ride out here to Texas with a side trip through the mountains obviously, to meet up with Jake and Motonosity then you guys could continue out in the hill country of Texas.
cant wait till u get to ride the pikes peak v4
Im surprised no manufacturer has made shifting electric ya know via a servo motor kinda thing so the shift lever rather than being mechanical would be a switch and then of course that entirely opens the door the the cpu shifitng the bike also for an auto mode...I mean i know there is already dual clutch but those add a lot more weight than 2 pound servo motor....my Yammie T9GT has a tiny short shift lever which actually pains my toes to upshift Yamaha moved the motor further up and rotated it for improved handling and that is just what they had left to work with....but I mean with a servo shift the cpu could even auto find nuetral whenever bike comes to a halt for more than so many seconds (would be adjustable of course) A bike like Multi Strada would be the duhh first bike to see that on too!
Can you do the Mc agusta Veloce raptor.
You need to compare that with the KTM 1290 SAS
Great video, question you said that 1260 Multistrada is the best, know you said the V4 Multistrada is the best also, so which one do you pick?
If money wasnt an option and I could have either I'd pick the V4s over the 1260. The ONLY thing I'd really miss would be the slight increase in lowdown torque but everything else I prefer on the V4s.
hey, can you do a first ride ep. on the new Ducati Streetfighter V2 when you get your hands on one? much appreciated :)
No doubt I will. I'm VERY interested in that model.
actually, the reason why the bike has such a long service interval because it doesn't have desmodromic valves... compare to the rest of the Ducati engines
No, the v4 engine in this still has Desmo values
@@jonathanlongworth4463 No it doesn't, spring actuated like every other bike now.
@@jonathanlongworth4463 not the multistrada v4..
Yall are right my bad
A V4 in an ADV bike.
Seems crazy on paper, but I'm glad it exists.
OC Get Ducati to let you take one to San Diego CA and back. The scenery through Arizona is awesome.
OC: Life is short… get the dang bike 😉
Chase- great review. I had the same experience. Jumped on a 2014 multi for a test ride when my buddy was looking for his next bike and it ruined me anything else. Picked up a low miles 2014 multi this spring and put 4K miles on it this summer. The perfect bike and the early skyhook models can be picked up under $10k.
How has the reliability been. I’m a little nervous to get one for long hauls because I wouldn’t want to be in the middle of nowhere and the bike not start due to some electrical issue.
@@keltecdan So far no issues whatsoever. The electronics have been dead solid except from time to time I have to hold the key right up to the ignition to recognize it (common issue). Making sure that you have set the start code as a fallback measure is important as well in case the battery in the key dies.
@@bostonstrong6 Sounds like Audi may have worked on the reliability of these bikes. I’m still leaning more towards the Triumph Tiger 900gt pro. Plus it’s less money as well.
@@keltecdan Audi now owns Ducati. The electronics are German. Nuff said.
I’d be happy with my MT-09 and a Tracer 9 GT. I’m a Yamaha fan boy and like spending little money for stuff most spend a lot to get.
A million subs and sponsorships, you can totally afford a multistrada v4. Quit playing 😉
Nice
"1260 pikes peak is the first multistrada I've ever ridden"
*Sad multistrada enduro noises*
Enduros have their place, they are good at what they are, but the Pikes Peak versions really make them seem like cows. I have an S1000XR and compared to that the pikes peak is pedestrian and the Enduro is a straight up whale.
Funny enough I saw that the other day and realized I had ridden on years before. That made me really curious why I didn't enjoy that first enduro more. I'd need to go back and review that video and see what I didn't like. Props for being up to date on the content library!
@@chaseontwowheels The enduros have small rear wheels, are much heavier and way more lethargic VS the standard or even Pikes peak versions of the bikes. That multi probably did feel like an actual old man's bike.
@@chaseontwowheels the only reason i got the enduro is the Ginormous fuel tank and off-roadability, after 4 years of ownership i would never trade mine for another, pulls like a freight train and rides as if it's on rails!
Great
27:00 basically they pulled a Honda. Underrate a high powered motor to keep it well under operational extremes.
Yep, the only difference is you can still FEEL the character of the engine!
I think I’ll stick with the triumph tiger 900 gt pro.
Well do e Chase once again I told you before the Multi is addictive. I've had 2 and trying my best not to ride the V4s. Damnit and here you go. I guess I'll schedule the ride next weekend @Roswell MM and POSSIBLY trade my 2017 1200S tour Multi. Thanks Chase
Sorry man. Trust me I didnt want to ride it because I knew what would happen. Beware, if you ride it...it's over. You'll have to get one!
Atlanta to Beartooth Highway by way of Colorado Utah and Yellowstone
Everybody is in love with this V4 if not Superduke GT, so finally a GS killer?
You went from 2 to 4 cylinders with the same displacement and don’t understand why torque went down. Simple lesson - the longer the stroke, the longer that lever on the crank, the more torque it can make - conversely - the further it has to travel, so the more difficulty for it to rev high. Short fat cylinders, short distance to travel, rev sky high, make buzy horsepower. Long skinny - the opposite.
OC
Yes Chase, definitely you can have a Multistrada. Trade your MT10 in. Since you've somehow turned that bike into a "Dad Bike", why not go on a "Full-on Dad Bike" LOL. Joking aside, you are much likely more capable to have one than most of us ChaseonTwoWheels subscribers. With a CZcams channel that big, I doubt you can't afford one.
I love watching chase simp over a multistrada.
Never tried the photo on Instagram, don't know why (Ha Ha). But, your reviews are great. I can't afford a Multistrada either. I'd much rather a MT09 anyway. 'Orses for courses, innit?!
OC: cross country road trip. But holy cow, for $25K, get a truck, trailer and a Tuono or Trident 😳😆
You need to try the new Super Duke 1290 GT and BMW S1000XR
What ever happened to yummir6
Bro, You should try the BMW s1000xr 2020 and up. It’s waaay better than it’s predecessor..
oc most definitely from georgia to California and maybe a good used one lol
I feel ya…test rode one back in April…now every bike feels like crap…haha!
The irony of heated seats on a ducati has me chuckling after watching the V4 R first ride
LMFAO never thought about that.
Every ducati has heated seats lol
Woah
Ask them for the new pikes peake V4 👍😊🇬🇧
Seems like a generally smoother ride than the 1260. How did the acceleration compare to the 1260 pikes peak? To be honest, your pikes peak video helped me go ducati enduro 1260 over the triumph or bmw equivalents. Wondering if I’m missing anything by not waiting until the MTS v4. Break it to me gently…
You are gonna end up buying it 😏
Pitch an Iron Butt challenge on Multistrada to Ducati. 👌🏾
Bro that wouldn't even be a challenge on the Multi V4s. lol
Nice bike but still like my 1260S
Top optioned out BMW XR1000 hits $22,000. So the Ducati is $3,000 more! Sounds too high a price to me. I mean think about it. Paying 50% of a high end SUV! For a production bike. Not cool. Shame on Ducati. Previous Multistrada have all not sold for listing prices. Plus its not a Vtwin or a Desmo bike. Non Desmo Ducati’s have historically been the cheaper bikes. Horsepower is not everything.
“What deal with the devil has Ducati done for this bike to be so good?”
Audi. They got bought by VW/Audi. Italian passion/design with German engineering.
Didn’t see him change to 6th gear, despite sitting at a steady 95mph! I wouldn’t do that if it was my $25k!!
Savanna Georgia to Vancouver Washington
Please tell us if the bike is thirsty or not next time you do the first ride because we do take it into a consideration when buying a bike…
👏👏👍👍✌✌
Honda NT 1100 makes more sense if you want a dad bike. I think it looks better.
Honda has a prototype self balancing motorcycle.
Messed up that one again. That not how you start a ducati with keyless go! Leave the damn switch in the on position and never touch it. That's the emergency start incase you lose your key. Turn it on using th lock button on the right side toggle. Then press power. SIMPLE! Don't know how you've been doing this wrong for so long and haven't figured it out yet. It's not designed to be complicated like you think. It's actually really easy to use.
OC! save more money and sell the mt10! I can feel that you love the multi way more than your yamaha
from the side the front end looks like a NBA or college basketball mascott...
When you drop or crash this bike , good luck with the bill from the dealership $$$$$$$$$$🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Who's been subbed since chasein3D 😎
I wonder who would be able to fix it if it breaks down in a remote part of Africa, with so much technology.
It won't break down. Modern ducati reliability is fine... you wouldn't wanna go on an old multistrada 1100 though, unless you knew how to work on it yourself. This new one will go around the world without a breakdown.
Well, it does not have the lifetime diamond chain, gotta go bmw for that.
Multis have ruined sport bikes for me. I'm not any slower on any of my fast back roads, and the thing will do STATES at a time in complete comfort.
OC
Do u still hang out will yummi
Your videos are high production quality and quite engaging but super-long for 2021 attention span standards. Consider making them shorter, more condensed, straight to the point.
We are actually working on that. First goal is to get them down to 20 min.
20 grand gets you a whole lot of ugly
Unpopular openion....
Ducatis do look that great as people say 🙄🙄 and does not sound that good.
Hit me now 🤣🤣
It genuinely does my head in when I see ratings for a bike at the beginning of a review. Why do you do that? May as well switch off as soon as they appear. It's a bit like watching a trailer for a movie that gives to much away so you don't bother to go to watch it. Stop it, please. Ride safely.
