    Hi guys,
    A viewer and also owner of the Facebook group 'MV-8800 Patches' asked how to handle .MID files with the MV.
    In a program like FL Studio you can easily use these free downloadable files but is it also possible with the MV?
    The answer is simple and is yes!
    I know the MV can handle SMF-files but I didn't know that it could handle .MID-files.
    In this video I give an easy example how I use a downloaded .MID file to create a simple loop.
    You will learn to split notes also to create a bass line, a melody line and a chord line.

    You the man. You literally resurrected the MV8800 on youtube. You got the best MV8800 content on the web for sure. Thanks for all you do! BTW i got my CF/IDE upgrade you taught us and i'm happy. It frees up the MV out of file import jail haha

      Thank you so much for your words. Motivating! And so cool that you've installed the CF/IDE-upgrade. It is indeed how you explain it hahaha It's so easy now to swap files. It makes the MV more flexible.

      It was also a total surprise to me. I was triggered by the fact that you can export SMF. Export = Import, I thought. Well...it was not possible to import SMF but just .MID (basically they're the same)
      So, now I will search for more complete MIDI-Files to re-create songs :D

    I have a mv8000 I'm assuming that I should be able to do this on the 8000 as well.

    are those midi tracks on the mixer somewhere to controle the level and pan? also, how would you master those midi tracks you've just recorded?

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před 3 lety

      Hi!
      External midi instruments can not be controlled with level and pan from the mixer but can be controlled with the assignable sliders and midi cc. Control 7 and 10 are for level and pan.
      Master those tracks? You can use the inputs and start up the MTK to record and process the total mix.
      I hope this is what you’re looking for.

    A lot of people sleep on the “midi file digging” which is what I call it. Did you ever check out the vid where I covered some aspects of midi digging?
