    - Pokémon Z at long last
    - Megas are back
    - new Legends game
    - 2025. Not rushed for holiday sales.
    This may be one of the best, most fan-rewarding decisions Game Freak ever made.

    The story of Legends Arceus is largely based on the Japanese colonization of Hokkaido that started in 1869. Between 1853 and 1870 Paris was undergoing a renovation project commissioned by Napoleon III, so I'd say that Legends Z-A is most likely supposed to be contemporaneous with the first Legends game. The Eiffel Tower was not built until 1889, but that's not too much later and there's no reason for the games to adhere to our version of history exactly (there was also not a giant death laser built in France 3000 years ago).

      It's funny what PLA used from real history and what was played around with (Laventon's portable camera wouldn't be a thing until the 1920s, Cogita's dress wouldn't be the style until the 1890s)

      Given that the Eiffel Tower was, essentially, just built to be a display piece, I don't see any reason why its construction can't be worked into the story as "a testament to the bond between Humans and Pokemon" or something similar

    As a French person (France is the inspiration for Kalos), the pretty obvious thing that comes to mind is Paris' urban development plan under Haussmann in the 19th century.
    It's what gave Paris its famous aesthetic, and it's exactly the type of architecture that the teaser is showing off
    It's also the century of the World Fair that came with the construction of the Eiffel tower
    So for me it's pretty obvious that the game still happens in the past, as people mentioned, the futuristic lines and all that could just be interpreted as a blue print
    The 19th century also happens to line up with Arceus' time frame.

      @@qwerttzizzi
      It does fit with irl history
      Arceus is based on Japan's expansionism towards Hokkaido (Hisui/Sinnoh) which happened around the 19th century as well.
      It's just that, since it's about settlers coming into a new territory, of course the territory is not as developed
      If they showed Kanto around the same time as Hisui, it would be much more populated and developed
      If you look at Arceus closely, you can notice they do have something around 19th century tech (look at the pokeball and the main building for example)

      I'm not convinced that ISNT what the game is about tbh. The redevelopment plan is the first and last thing in the teaser so thats probably our equivalent of the Galaxy Expedition Team in PLA. The futuristic lights in the teaser might even be representing blueprints rather than lights. If we're also sticking with events in the same era as PLA there was a massive campaign in Paris (where Lumiose is based on) to redesign the city and modernize/expand it so that's very possibly the theme of the setting.

The Z-A indicates that it's like AZ but backwards.

    I'm pretty sure the blue outline style in the trailer is supposed to evoke the style of blueprints/building plans (while also being easy to look at, using blue with white lines instead of the black bg/blue lines would've been to hard to see in motion). Since Kalos is based on France and Lumiose City is based on Paris (note the huge eiffel-esque tower in the center), personally I believe its supposed to be a reference to the modern renovation of Paris in the mid 1800s, which would put it around the same time period as Legends Arceus. With the limited info we have right now, here’s my guess as to how the game will go: Lumiose City is being built. Pokémon and people haven’t fully come to coexist yet, but are further along than Hisui was. You are either from the city or are isekaied there again, and are tasked by someone (maybe Clemont’s ancestor?) to help catch Pokémon to help with developing the city. Dex entries are as detailed as they were in PLA but more focused on how they could help with construction or assist in running businesses or something. Like the Machop line could help with manual labor, but Dedenne could help with powering buildings’ light or heat or equipment. Maybe developing the city is causing nature to become imbalanced and it’s upsetting Zygarde?
    We don’t have much info yet, but this is my current guess. We’ll hafta wait til further news is released to see how accurate this is

      Actually on closer review it MIGHT be the Maiden trim design. it's hard to really tell from that angle but the tail and balls around the neck look like the Maiden trim. The legs are kinda throwing me off and the "hat" doesn't look right, but I'm revising that to being a "possibly" than a "likely".

      I said Maiden, I meant Matron. The head still looks off to me but it could just be a weird forced angle that's doing it.

    I wasn’t expecting Legends Z-A to be announced, but it’s a welcomed surprise regardless (coming from someone who didn’t finish my Y play through)! I like how it’s releasing next year too, I also noted that it said it’s releasing “simultaneously” in 2025; Switch 2 teaser perhaps?

    I don’t know who said it’s only going to take place in Lumiose City, I feel like Lumiose is just gonna be the Jubilife City of this game and part of the adventure is gonna be building up Lumiose, which is what the urban redevelopment plan means b/c they’re building or rebuilding the city and you’re gonna quest around the region to help it build itself I think

    As someone who's favorite Pokemon games are X and Y, seeing the little glimpses of Gen 6 only Pokemon told me right from the start of the trailer that it could be Pokemon Z. And then it was!! I've been wanting a new Pokemon Kalos game for so long... I was freaking out throughout the whole entire trailer lol

  • @perote3
    @perote3 Před 2 měsíci

    Since it says "Urban development plan" I'd say it's probably in the past, and about the building/settling of Lumiose and you're going into different biomes in order to help progress the city.

    I really like cityscapes in games (with Astral Chain being my favorite design-wise) and Lumiose had some really nice areas! I’m really curious what the starter mixup will be this time since Legends Arceus had 3 starters from different regions!

    Why not a game set in the future, like Violet with the FUTURE Paradoxes.

    Other than the fact that it’s a new legends arceus game, which in itself is exciting, it gets my gears turning with the thought that we could see this on the switch 2. Being that it’s not coming until next year, and the rumors are saying it also isn’t being released until 2025, do you think it’s a launch title or a holiday title?

  • @negil

    Was it said elsewhere that the game was only taking place within Lumiose? I hadn't gotten the impression that it would be entirely contained within the city, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see

  • @InfiniteBooshorama
    @InfiniteBooshorama Před 2 měsíci

    My guess is that Lumiose is going to be the “Hub” city and we’ll be venturing to other parts of Kalos to gather materials and Pokémon based on the needs of the city. Like if a new building needs to be built there will be a quest asking the player to gather steel or lumber or a specific type of Pokémon that would benefit the type of building like Furfrou for a salon etc

    I can see them pull a fast one and say it all takes place in "Lumiose City" but the city is just a small town or is slowly being constructed. So there's still massive areas of undeveloped land for pokémon to roam.
    Lumiose was built for the 3DS as three-ish major towns(a North and South half of the border, and then the center), so it makes sense that it was scaled down and made to seem smaller. Especially sharing space with the rest of the region with other routes and towns. Now it's just a single city getting full fat console power. They definitely have the chance to make the city FEEL like a full city. Not just the small "cities" that Scarlet and Violet have where it's just a few buildings clumped together in the middle of a giant empty feel. They can make a proper city
    I'm super excited to see this game. My first proper pokémon game was XY so it's so cool that not only do we get a long awaited """continuation,""" it's finally my turn to get a game that appeals to my nostalgia

    Pokémon TCG Pocket is just Pokémons version of Yugioh Duel Links using the Speed Duel format. The Free Packs each day are essentially just your log in bonus that you get in Duel Links for signing in and playing for that day.

    I mean me watching this I was thinking about the TCG part that it would be brilliant if they let you open digital packs and then give you the option to purchase specific cards from your digital collection to be printed and shipped to you directly. That was you still get the virtual opening experience and then it's easy (if not expensive) to convert your virtual deck into a physical one without having to buy random packs and hope for the best.

  • @rotciv557
    @rotciv557 Před 2 měsíci

    The premise is based on Paris' Urban redevelopment, which took place in the 1800s (around the same time as the Japanese fully occupying Hokkaido, which was the historical inspiration of Legends Arceus), so yes it still takes place in the past but nowhere near the time of the Kalos War that kickstarted Megas

  • @JackitK
    @JackitK Před 2 měsíci

    Yeah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that there is already an existing TCG app.
    Granted I've tried it a couple times and it's way more focused on the battling portion than the collection aspect. There isn't even a good way to view the cards you collect.
    So I'm a lot more interested in this new app than the existing one. I just left wondering if it'll have any comptability with the codes you get from physical TGC packs. No clue if I should keep using the old app just to get a little more out of my cards, or just save all of that for the new app that definitely looks to focus more on the collection elements that I actually care about.

    To be fair, just because there’s a digital version of any TCG, that doesn’t mean the physical version is getting replaced. There are digital versions of a lot of popular TCGs like MTG, and the physical cards are still being chased by collectors and there are still physical tournaments.

    I really hope there’s some use of film in the game. Kalos is based on France which is where a lot of early films were made. Maybe for some side quests you could get a cinemagraph(basically a very early video camera) and be tasked with filming some wild Pokémon exhibiting unique behaviors. Kind of a mini Pokemon Snap.

    Logically, the 2025 release means it'll probably be a launch title with the (now delayed) Switch 2. Since I think you said something about VR during the clip reveal portion of things, does that mean you now think the Switch 2 gimmick will incorporate VR somehow?

    Kalos is one of my favorite regions so I’m stoked about this! Another legends game makes this a series too so I’m hoping we’ll see more of these and honestly I think it’s a better way to make remakes/sequel since it doesn’t have to fit a mold but they don’t have to start from scratch! I’m also curious what starters we’ll get this time

    The fact this game is named Z-A, I really HOPE we get an appearance from AZ because, well, the name of the game is his name backwards and he has lived for over 3000 years. Plus we didn't truly explored the lore of his backstory in XY it was just that he helped make the weapon, his partner left him, and spent all the years feeling bad about it.

    it seems like this game will be set in the city.
    now, it could be that the city functions as a hub, but then you go out in the wild and catch pokemon. possibly the game could stress the city building aspect that legends arceus also had, by being able to build and open new spots in the main hub by getting pokemon into the city and using them to do stuff.
    or, it could be set in the city period, and that would spark some questions like: where would you find pokemon? like, i guess you could find water pokemon in the canals, and grass pokemon in a park, but maybe you'll have dungeon-like areas in the sewers, power plants and stuff like that. will that be enough? i don't know. but i'm certainly curious
