Red Rocks Canyon Hike- My First Desert Hike

I went on a Bachelor Party trip to Las Vegas, but I had to find time to get out. This area was beautiful for hiking. The red rocks and canyons were impressive. I want to go back and do more hiking/backpacking, but I need your input on future desert hikes.
