    Man ND plays a normal conference schedule now. Heck they only have 8 P4 games this year. West Virginia has 11. ND's "OOC" is Northern Illinois, Miami...of Ohio, Navy and Army. They also play Louisville, UVA, Purdue and Stanford. Their whole schedule is 3 games - A&M, FSU and USC. Thats a joke. I dont know what dude was talking about last years schedule for. Tennessee State, Central Michigan, Navy, Duke, Pitt, Stanford and Wake Forrest. Thats 7 wins without having to do film study. They had NC State, Ohio State, Louisville USC and Clemson. Lost to Ohio State, Louisville and Clemson. Their best win of the year was at NC State. I absolutely agree that teams should stop scheduling ND but honestly that ship has sailed. ND is all about the easy path now.

    What many FL Gators fans would be surprised to hear is that Steve Spurrier lobbied to get FSU into the SEC back in the 90’s.

    • @petechau9616
      @petechau9616 Před měsícem

      Bear Bryant while at Bama as HC sent a message to Bobby Bowden offering to represent FSU for membership in the SEC. Spurrier may have been for it but I heard that the brass at Florida did not take him up on the offer. The reason being is that they wanted Florida to be the sole member of the SEC in the state.

    When the Florida schools are playing top ball (particularly FSU and Miami), everyone else is angling for second place. Athens, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Oxford, Baton Rouge are cow tipping towns in impoverished states compared to the glam and appeal of playing in the sunshine state. The last thing the SEC wants is a repeat of the 80s and 90s - and deep down everyone knows it.

  • @scarygamecocks3246
    @scarygamecocks3246 Před měsícem

    The SEC is holding off on going to 9 conference games - this time, because they know the Fox/ESPN streaming deal will eventually include SEC/B1G cross-conference games. Most likely one for each team, with the leftover B1G teams playing BIG12 teams.
    These will likely be scheduled in the first half of the season, to lessen their effect on playoff storylines. You don't want a situation where the best teams from each conference play right before the playoffs.

    Oh great, more complaining about Notre Dame preferring to be Independent. What does it say that they've been regularly getting Big Ten teams on the schedule despite the Big Ten having 9 league games? Remember in 2017 and 2019 when Georgia had 10 P5 games, including Notre Dame?

  • @JamesSmith-vs8nv
    @JamesSmith-vs8nv Před měsícem

    Norte Dame should join a conference. Being an independent team is not fit for the progression of where college football is going in the future. Conference expansion and playing Conference opponents are going to be extremely tough for the Big Ten and SEC when they start playing additional conference opponents. Norte Dame will be in a tough spot when scheduled opponents opt out of playing them due to new conference regulations. They would have to schedule weaker opponents on their schedule in future if that happens.

      @chrisboyer2077 Před měsícem

      @@ChrisSadowski-pp1np OK, that's a different statement. Saying ND isn't heavily dependent on the SEC to fill out their schedule is accurate. ND likes to try and play someone from every conference, so we aren't dependent on the SEC but getting an SEC team on the schedule is a nice cherry on top. ND vs UGA games in 17 and 19 were pretty epic games.
