Hey Doe, honestly don't apologize for getting emotional because of such a beautiful song. Music like this song are made for us to feel such strong emotion, Freddie and Queen were masters of making you feel whilst you listen. All the best artists do. Even I teared up listening to this and this was the first time I listened to the song as well. It's so beautiful

The song was originally written circa 1984 for Freddie's solo album 'Mr Bad Guy'. Freddie in early eighties stayed in Munich and had an affair with Barbara Valentin (a german actress). Because Freddie had this 'tendency' to have rather 'turbulent' relationships, at some point he left her and flew back to London leaving her alone. I believe he was already attracted more to Jim Hutton who he knew at that time and with whom he spent the rest of his life. So this song depicts the whole situation, basically.
As to the video, as far as I'm concerned, at some point the couple dances while they're old which means that the person with sickness survives - it is, apparently, a statement to the Mercury Phoenix Trust that raise money and help people who contracted the illness. By helping the organisation - which is what you did dressing up as Freddie - you help people like the ones in the video ;)

This song also hits me right in the feels as it reminds me of my mum who I lost back in June 2015. She absolutely adored Freddie Mercury and Queen so I picked all Queen songs for her funeral. Entrance was Bohemian Rhapsody, interlude was Bijou and the exit was These Are The Days of Our Lives.

Very authentic reaction... yes it's a sad song with this animation about a sad subject.
The song originated in Freddie's Munich time in the early to mid 1980's. In this time he hasn't been diagnosed with AIDS. His love life was complicated in that time, to say the least. There was the German Pub owner Winnie Kirchberger, who didn't speak English, while Freddie didn't speak German, nevertheless they had lots of arguments. They lived together in Winnie's flat for a while.
Also there was the German actress Barbara Valentin - nobody could tell if she and Freddie were a pair at some point, or not. One of her movies was called "Kiss me Like There's no Tomorrow". Freddie probably took his song idea from this movie title.
And at the same time, there was Jim Hutton, who flew constantly from London to Munich for visits.
In this time, about 1983-1984, Freddie worked simultaneously with Queen on the album "the Works", and for his solo album "Mr. Bad Guy".
In about 1985, Freddie left behind Munich, Winnie and Barbara, and flew back to London to live with Jim. Jim was his long time partner until Freddie died.
Anyway, this is a really beautiful, romantic and passionate break-up song. I recommend to listen to it also without the animation, it is so underrated.

Yes if you look @ the sound track to the movie Highlander. I believe the Actor's name is Christopher Lambert, big Tall muscler swordsman back in the 1700's. He is imortal like i mentioned his one true love is not, when she died that was it. Im never gonna fall in love again. He turns back all the female attention, then he doe find 💘. I think Doe, Darling you must have heard. " one moment of love. Is better than a life time alone. What highlander is saying, love of a women. Beacuse he is imortal, her life & love is but a moment in time.

Very true. It’s arguably the single most powerful emotion and desire that every person shares and that is why it makes for such a touching song. Aside from the astounding vocals from Mercury - whom I see as the greatest male vocalist of the last century - the lyrics are very simple yet very effective.

I cried too when I watched it and cried again whilst watching your video. Is such a sad and touching animation and song that really hits the nail on the head and makes me so sad that the struggle still continues today even though there are treatments etc to help lead normal lives. But is just so upsetting to think how many people have and prob still do loose the loves of their lives to aids. 😢😢😢😢

No shame in crying. I'm in tears after that. The animation was brilliant & heartbreaking. But really captured the AIDS effect on somebody you love, the sores appearing on one of the characters. The sad thing is, that if Freddie had been diagnosed with HIV a few months later he would still be here, as they found a drug soon after his death that people with HIV can now live as long as anybody else.

You are very in tune with what you watch and hear. The wonderful part of this story is that a " cure i" or the drugs that now keep the infected alive is found and the two grow old together. They're hair had gone grey/white in the end. It truly is a wonderful short story Doe and cryng just means you understand it and was moved by it. Hopefully many of us did the same. 💕

What a great video, and what a great riposte from Freddie to the disease that took him from us all. The video shows just how far the world has come for it's subject matter to be accepted mainstream. Still some distance to go, not just in accepting the sexual preference and expression of anyone, but in accepting anyone for who they are, no matter what race, creed or colour. Politics, religion, society, cannot be allowed to define who we are individually, we are each king or queen over our own minds and bodies. Harm no one in the pursuit of your happiness, and make your happiness a reward for your acceptance of others. It's that simple.
