    I just recieved my Direto X couple of days ago, and already tried it with Rouvy. Awesome, just awesome! Probably is the best mid-range smart-trainer!
    And the best part is that I ordered it from a German online store, and before sending it outside the EU, the Germans excluded from the price a 19% sales tax, which is valid only within Europe. Thus, instead of the recommended retail price of 899$, I paid only 587,40€ for the trainer itself and 39.95€ for the delivery of massive 20 kg box to Russia.
    As you understand 627.35€ is about 695$, which is not 899$ at all.
    Long live the European Tax Code!

    Assuming the flywheel won't have future problems, this is the best value for money trainer in the market. Hands down!! The best.

    I had the original Direto and loved it, no issues and just works. Smooth and not noisy, the feel is the same as my Neo 2T. the Direto is reliabile, unlike kickr and Neo (my first gen ant+ meter died and had to return it). Don’t worry about momentum and max power, you won’t get to these limits unless your an amateur or pro. It’s fine, Elite makes great products, I also have the Elite wheel on Trainers, they are bomb proof too.

  • @michwoz
    @michwoz Před 4 lety +4

    I don't think resistance floor is momentum problem. It's caused by minimal passive resistance on given flywheel speed. Direto and many other trainers with magnet based resistance (Flux etc.) simply doesn't have "zero resistance" mode. The higher is speed the higher is minimal resistance. To be more precise, in case of Direto the magents can't be moved far enough from the aluminum disc (on which eddy currents are produced to create resistance).

    Great review, got a Direto x myself. I would have added a summary/ conclusion at the end of the video. It kind of ended in nothing now. Should someone buy it or not?

      Appreciate the feedback. Looking at it now, I somehow missed adding my conclusion. I think maybe I thought I sort of gave that during the middle of the video right when I started talking about the accuracy part. But I will keep that in mind next time. Thank you 🙏

      @@SmartBikeTrainers You did indeed give some sort of conclusion during the video. I noticed how you lost track halfway through. Still a great video though and I surely appreciate the effort. Not many video's on the Direto X on CZcams. Makes me happy to see somebody reviewing this great product. Keep making videos, I enjoy them!

    Hi, Great video review. Would you say this is more responsive (less lag) than the original Direto to gradient changes in Zwift Titans Grove using simulation mode (not ERG). And also how does it compare with Suito to responsiveness to quick gradient changes. Trying to decide between these three Elite trainers!

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 4 lety +1

      Hard to tell in sim mode because it depends on other factors than the trainer itself such as Zwift itself or WiFi connection. So your experience can be different than mine. But from my own experience, it responded very well in Titans Gove all the way up to the tower. I haven’t been on a Suito yet so can’t compare the two.

    Hi, I'm an MTB'er looking for my first smart trainer for winter miles an wieght loss then, Maybe some more intense training later.... Would you say this is a good model for me as an MTB'er? I've looked around the internetz an all I can find is road reviews. Also what app would you recomend for MTB? again, all I can find is road orientated.

    Hi Tariq. Wonderful video with lots of information. Im new in the world of indoor cycling and excited to purchase my first trainer. I have been doing research and watching a ton of comparisons so far. I’d like to know if there has been major technology advancements in the directo X and the current XR-T models? This is because im getting a discounted price on a new (old stock) directo X and leaning towards purchasing it. Also let me know if purchasing the current generation Suito-T for around the same price is better. Thanks!

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 2 lety

      Not much changed from the Direto X to the XR so if you are getting a good price on it, go for it. Definitely go with the Direto X over the Suito if price is the same. Hope that helps!

    Great and efficient review. Compared to TACX Neo2, what’s the ride feel ? It doesn’t have any lateral flex as the Neo right ?

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 4 lety +2

      No it doesn’t have a lateral flex to it. The Neo is at a different level though and road feel is a bit better with the Neo.

    • @DHGV
      @DHGV Před 4 lety +2

      When I tried the Neo2, I noticed a lot of slipping when suddenly pushing it, not even that hard actually. The store manager told me that all the Taxc's have that same issue. I didn't like it and I felt like it shouldn't be the case in a product this expensive. In that price range you could also look at de Drivo. Don't have any experience with that though. I feel like the Direto X is currently their best selling product, for a good reason. Bang for the buck. I abuse mine with pushing up to 1300 watts and it doesn't complain for one second.

    Nice review, i have one on order, coming next week, i have a question, i have a garmin heart rate monitor, that is using ant+, can i connect this directly to the trainer, or do i need to get a ant+ usb dongle to get my h-rate into zwift?

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 4 lety +1

      You need to connect the HR monitor directly to Zwift. So yes, you can either get a Bluetooth heart rate monitor or ant+ USB key and plug it into your laptop and connect using Ant+.

    Hi my unit arrived today. I was hoping you could answer a question I have regarding set up. I did the upgrado app to make sure I have the latest firmware. I then went to the other app and during the configuration it asks if you have additional sensors: power and cadence. I have a Stages power meter. Do you recommend I add it or not? What are the pros/cons. Thanks in advance.

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 4 lety +1

    3 seconds to change erg mode seems quite slow - does it lag in sim mode? i have i drivo and that is really slow to adapt to gradient changes

    • @alanmayes6822
      @alanmayes6822 Před 4 lety

      I am also interested in this point. I am hoping it has less lag that original Direto. If not may have to go for Drivo 2 which apparently is 3 times faster as responding to gradient changes than the original Drivo.
