Frank Sinatra - That's Life | Sinatra A Man And His Music Part II 0504am 9.10.23 it's business....and let's face it: the song to play when yer being arrested or having a cardiac arrest...
No creative comment no nothing just the same thing you see on every music video like this.
I’m going through a hard time. My health is a little shitty and my panic attacks and depression have worsened, but just how Sinatra said: that’s life! This song is helping me keep trying even when it’s difficult to imagine a good future for me. I just hope things get a little bit better for me! Meanwhile, I’ll keep listening to this masterpiece ❤️
Continue, porque você sairá dessa fase e subirá! Também estou nessa! Tudo é transitório, tanto as coisas boas, quanto as ruins! Vai passar e virá a boa fase! Também ouço TODOS os dias, porque sei que voltarei a subir; é a vida, como diz a música!
Hang in there mate 👍✌️
Stay strong, I know its easy for me to say but please try 🙏 god bless you
Crazy how life is one big cypher. I’ve been feeling the same with two kids. All I can say is never lose that hope and drive. And hang in there! There’s people out there that love you. And I love you. Stay up and be safe!
When I fell down I repeat this lyric "I don't let it get me down
This guy can carry a tune to save his life

You were blessed!
Used to listen to this song every day before my junior of high school. It was a tough year, but Frank made it easier.
Tavon Awesome I'm always more interested in the life stories of people who aren't famous as opposed to those who are notable. How did you maintain your composure? How did you succeed? From where did you draw your strength?
Jilliey Gallagher Mostly just my first bout of depression, it was because I didn't get into National Honor Society in my junior year. Believe me, seeing all my friends get into National Honor Society when I didn't made me want to burst out into tears. Luckily Frank taught me to take things as they come and look for something else to occupy my mind. I knew I wouldn't get any better just staying in my room so I took charge of my life.
Mikhail Gorbachev this my song now. I have gotten rid of toxic people. I’ve dusted myself off and keep getting back in the race! That’s Life. It reminds me of my late Dad.
Mikhail Gorbachev doing that rn lmao
Mikhail Gorbachev The summer before your junior year of high school must have been tough, indeed. Aside from being a local leader of Komsomol, the Soviet Youth organization, you had to help your father on the farm. And I'm guessing a few of your friends were liquidated by Comrade Stalin. But you hung in there, and that's what matters.
They don’t make ‘em like they used to
Amen to that
Agreed. Miss the class that men and women had back then. Get rid of racism, and sexism... and its truly the golden era.
why is Gamora? Might be the first time I find a decent comment section in CZcams. True, this is class. Cheers
For sure man, there’s no more creativity.
Just stfu
I’m a 16 year old kid, that just plays the tuba in a small town band. This is my favorite song to perform. If I could thank Frank, I would. I would tell him how much this song is to me. It’s my grandparents generation. I will say, I didn’t grow up with this. I’ve accustomed to it. My dad likes old style music. I take what he gave me. Thank you, I’m thankful forever, Frank.
Frank would be your great grandparents generation lol
@@jays903 believe it or not, my grandparents were born in the 1930’s. My grandmother was sobbing when he passed. She has a signed autograph of a picture of him. So yeah, he was my grandparents generation.

I'm 88 and still get a kick out of this amazing talent. Have a martini on me. Love you Frank.
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing...
Each time I find myself flat on my face.....I pick myself up and get back in the race.

He always looks like he's enjoying himself while singing. So cool!
too bad he's given "canned" applause. :(
@@bbro6154 : Not canned. he had an audience there. If you've seen the whole special, many parts of it were filmed live with an audience.
people that did biography on him said that he was only truly happy when he sang the best he could
Wouldn’t you if you made the money he made??
He definetely was. That is a big part of putting on a good show as well. Truly enjoying what you are doing and having fun doing it.
To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life.
Its not easy, but we should stay strong and help each other. As hard as it may seem's...

Songwriting, producing, and the game was totally different back in these days. There was no multitrack recording. This was done in one take with the best musicians in the world. No overdubs and very little post processing/editing. They were just that talented. Frank Sinatra was a true storyteller and quite literally defined what it meant to deliver emotion through music. If you don't feel something when you listen to these big band tunes, you haven't given it a real chance.
Sinatra preferred recording live, but there has been multi-track recording since the late 1950s.
No tricks here. Live vocals, live band.
No tricks but I’m pretty sure they had to rehearse a few times to get it right for the performance.
Ironically, the final record of That’s Life was fixed in post production. Technical issues forced producer Jimmy Bowen to record just the rhythm track and Sinatra’s vocals. He used other tracks to overdub the horns, Hammond Organ and female background singers at a later date. This only happened a few times, like the albums Watertown and Sing & Dance with Frank Sinatra. Otherwise, it was always Frank and the band together. As it should be!
Wrong.
When I was in senior high I told students and teachers at this high school I wanted to be accepted at a university business school. I was struggling with my studies, teachers criticized me, and students laughed at me. I heard Frank Sinatra sing this song one day all back at the time. I was so encouraged by Sinatra singing this song, and after a couple of years I reached my goal. Big joke on you Strathroy District Collegiate Institute Strathroy Ontario Canada.
Cool story bro ;)
Hell yeah!
cool bro..at the end u get the last laugh
They wouldn't get it. You had your last laugh. To them its a tragedy but to you it has became a comedy.
I liked that you listed the full name of the school
This is why so many 15 - 20 years olds like myself have started gravitating toward this type of music. No cussing, no vulgarity, no violence, no autone, just nice music
True there's just a beauty and elegance about this type of music 🎵
Just nice and uplifting messages!
I like the simplicity of a person singing, I don't mind when things are spliced together but I don't like autotune. I heard a song once that was completely autotuned except for two seconds where her voice stands alone, and that part sounds really good, I wish the rest of the song was like that
No, just TALENT.

Funny meets Strange 365 That’s what you gathered from his comment? No offence...
i love this
Regardless of the lyric, you know Frank is an every man giving it a shot. Besides the raw talent of his vocal tone, phrasing, and musical choices, that's what made him a star. And as many stories that you hear about him being a hard guy, I don't buy that he was any tougher than he had to be to do things his way. And the amount of money he spread around in his life proves he was a good generous man, no matter the associations, which in those days, were NOT an offer you could refuse.
BTW, I'm Gen X and like tons of musical styles. This guy will be heard on other planets.
You win the award for the person who pinned the most medals on himself.

That's life (that's life)
That's what all the people say:
"You're ridin' high in April
Shot down in May."
But I know
I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top
Back on top in June
I said that's life (that's life)
And as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks
Stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it
Let it get me down
'Cause this fine old world
It keeps spinnin' around
I've been a puppet, a pauper
A pirate, a poet
A pawn and a king
I've been up and down
And over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself
Flat on my face
I pick myself up
And get back in the race
That's life (that's life)
I tell you I can't deny it
I thought of quitting, baby
But my heart just
Ain't gonna buy it
And if I didn't think
It was worth one single try
I'd jump right on a big bird
And then I'd fly
I've been a puppet, a pauper
A pirate, a poet
A pawn and a king
I've been up and down
And over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself
Layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up
And get back in the race
That's life (that's life)
That's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cuttin' out
But my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothin' shakin'
Come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up
In a big ball...
And die
My, my!
Whos listening in 2024!

He said he didn't understand performers who didn't dress well, who ignored or turned their backs on the audience and essentially didn't entertain and perform as professionals.... There's a reason he's as influential and beloved today as he was 40-50 years ago and beyond. It was talent. Commitment to craft and being a true pro that understood what it meant to be the best performer more than worthy of the price of admission...

I found out about Frank Sinatra while doing a black history project on Sammy Davis, Jr. in 2006. I was nine years old and found out about Frank and Dean as well. I am so thankful because many people my age don’t know ANYTHING about good music. I have so many recordings and I collect extremely rare recordings from the ‘80s and ‘90s including the fifth time that Frank ever performed “(Theme From) New York, New York” onstage and was a little off key at the end because he wasn’t that familiar with it yet. It’s the earliest live recording I believe. What a journey these last 18 years have been. I have no words. These are my musical roots! The greatest era of entertainment: The 1950s-1990s.
It's 2022. I remember when I was depressed in 2019. That's when I met this song, I always listened to it almost every day. I am very grateful for this work of art.
True
You got this big G!!!
When I'm in a bad mood or feeling sad or depressed this is the song. It's a bit of a motivational and upbeat song that you need to keep you going! He's hoping tomorrow's better!!
+Tommy Hendry I feel the same. It´s both motivating and depressing. Makes me feel like "ok buddy hang in there" but it also makes me sad when i hear it imagening i am old and taking my last breath or when i think of people i love that are old now or have gone forever. I think of all the love, the struggle, the hard times they`ve gone through, the happiness and the tears of sadness and joy they had in life. One will die and live on in the memory of some people for a few years and then will be forgotten forever as if one never had existed. That`s sad but it is also some kind of funny and absurd. The song reminds me of the ending scene in Monty Pythons"life of brian" when the crucified guy next to brian sings "life`s a piece of shit when you look at it. Life`s a laughter death`s a joke." That`s life.
I agree.
+freddy10001fa you need help buddy. lol you better not believe this world is paradise..cause its not..or you'll be disappointed. and as for those dear ones gone before us you will see them when you cross over to the beautiful world beyond.

Class is permanent.

POV: you're 10 years old by now
That’s the best I ever heard in a looong time❤
I was fortunate enough to see this man in concert many years ago and he was more amazing that I ever hoped to imagine!!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
@@HEYMANNOTCOOL50 mins ago
I was a dirt clod throwing kid age 12 with no appreciation for music, before the Beatles, 1962. I was walking thru the living room, tv on, no one else watching and this was on. I stopped, looked at it and thought, "What is this man doing?" But I was transfixed. The way he stood, stepping, almost marching to the tune. I knew then, this guy was different. Not a mere mortal. Well, occasionally thru the years he'd pop up and catch my attention, tv, movies, song mainly. Regal. Thanks Frank.
Awesome story 😁
"Wanna hear a joke MurRAY?!"
"We've had enough of your jokes"
"How about another joke MurRAY?"
I think we've had enough of your jokes
"You get what you fucking deserve..." BANG!! 🔫🤣🤣
@@foxb5974 what do you get when you've crossed a mentally ill loner with a society that *abandons him and treats him like trash?*
Sinatra got his professional start with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. If any of you out there have any Tommy
Dorsey records..yes I mean records., listen to them very carefully. There's also a tune on one of the albums where
Frank Sinatra is introduced to perform the tune. "Polka dots & moonbeams" is one of them. His voice certainly
did change over the years, but it remained remarkable. If you do decide to listen to one of his tunes as a member
of the Dorsey Orchestra, you wouldn't believe it was Frank...he's so young.
I’m going through a pretty tough time in my life and I want to cry whenever I hear this. Thank you Frank for the music ❤️
Hi friend, I hope you've made it through your troubles. I'm going through a hard time myself. But someone once told me "it doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get back up."
Some people get their kicks
Stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it
Let it get me down... geniuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!!!!
His voice is just a musical instrument.
I'm 20 years old but I still listen to music like this. Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Sam Cooke... why isn't music like this created anymore?
Frank Sinatra is so bout a doubt one of, if not the greatest musician ever. I’ve listened to My way and this song Countless times, past the point of memorization, since I was 14
This is my favorite song ever. It makes me feel so good, I almost cry watching him live
Same here man, it's truly a deep feeling and a timeless song
@@gustavo3854 Timeless is the perfect word.
Frank in uno dei suoi diversi top... super top moments
De igual manera
I remember my Dad, a great Sinatra fan, describing him to me. "He's a very tiny bit off-key on the initial note and he slides up to key and makes the song his own and no-one else's." He was right - all his big songs, "That's Life", "New York", "My Way" are Sinatra's, and cannot be done justice by anyone else. I was never a fan of pre-1960s music, but I came to love Sinatra.
I have never heard frank sing off key. Is there an example?
@@June_Magoo czcams.com/video/w019MzRosmk/video.html You can hear it very slightly here. It isn't a criticism - it's his style of singing.
@@June_Magoo And here - czcams.com/video/TK0Vdb1RUCk/video.html. Magnificent.
He knocked the Stones. out of the no. one spot on Billboard 's Hot 100 with this song!
22 years old and all I can say is that frank sinatra music will forever give me chills and goosebumps cause of how marvelous of an artist he was
This song makes it clear why Mr. Sinatra will always be The Chairman of the Board. I went into three establishments yesterday - one a restaurant - and his songs were being played in all three.
Hi
No one can sing this song without enough life experiences, Frank is the one to master this song. I really like his performance.
@Eight Loco he has been alive to see 3 wars, WW1 WW2 and the Cold War
..... and today?
The "vegas (Mafia) Boy" remebers us today:- just singing from soul and heart:
"Thats Life"
As if, today ..... yes no difference. Today more value than ever!!
Frank's voice was just like another instrument in the orchestra, there's nothing to compare today, god bless you Mr Sinatra 🙏
One of the best songs by one of the best performers of all time. I miss you Frank!
amen ;-;/
My biggest wish is meeting Frank Sinatra but sadly i didn't live at this time
This is the true definition of swag.
I am 16 and man i was not born in the right time I've loved Frank Sinatra since i was 12 man he's just great
but you were born it the right time where you can just listen to song for free anytime, anywhere.

БРАВО! Слушаю постоянно. Шедеврально.
The world needs more of this.
Happy 100th anniversary, Frank Sinatra!
This man is better than most people we have today since he doesn’t use auto tune
I'm 24, learning jazz theory and piano just so I can play this song. Thank you frank, I've been a pirate too! 🤘
He just seems to sing with no effort at all and still his voice is just beautiful, that's what I love about this man.
He worked his whole life on vocaltechnique with some of the best educated operasingets of his era & didn’t give up listening & learning & he has been intelligent
That's life, that's what all the people say
You're ridin' high in April, shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June
I said that's life, and as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it, let it get me down
'Cause this fine old world, it keeps spinnin' around
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race
That's life, I tell you I can't deny it
I thought of quitting, baby, but my heart just ain't gonna buy it
And if I didn't think it was worth one single try
I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race
That's life, that's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cuttin' out but my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothin' shakin' come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die.
THE VOICE ❤
The little organ run at 2:30 is so tasty!
No matter how bad I feel, I can listen to this song and it changes my outlook.
Ol' Frankie Boy has my heart after all these years.
He Truly is a legend
Incredible, simply incredible! And WHO IS THAT ON KEYS?! Whoever that is playing organ, is BRILLIANT! 🙇🏻♂
A forever classic by The Great Frank Sinatra.
Even though I’m just 22, I can feel the nostalgia from 1966 when this song was released. Thanks Joker

It's like he's conversing, telling a story
Here in 2024 admiring this gem
Frankie does it his way. With his sometimes rich, sometimes thin baritone, he barks his way through this song, hitting every note cleanly. His unique lyricism ranges from almost operatic to almost sprechgesang. His impeccable sense of rhythm gives style and verve to his brilliant phrasing. Frank doesn't just sing a song, he gets inside it and delivers it, he re-interprets it to his own world-view. Perfect pitch and perfect timing make all his performances slick.
Perceptive comment, succinctly expressed . . .
Not gonna lie this performance put a tear to my eye go amazing.
Been going through a whole lot, crazy to think a Sinatra song gave me so much will to keep this show going
