I respect his great courage as an opera singer to traverse other genres, something you wouldn't expect from someone with the background in opera and musicals; you'd beileve to be conservative more than anyone.
Likewise i'm astonished how well someone seemingly _outside the genre_ can accompany and complement the other singer and song as a whole. This one collab is imo my favorite example of this, probably because I love both worlds of the _reggie vibe_ and _classical opera_ .

James brown wrote this song almost 60 years ago and it’s still as powerful and emotion provoking as it ever was. There’s not many people out there who can creat music that resonates for generations. I only wish I could understand Italian to truly appreciate what poveratti did because I could only admire the sound of his voice.

@@atsylor5549 I grew up with this song and James Brown. It's always been so emotionally charged so true and so lovely. Still makes me weep. Here is Pavarotti's translation to English. Thanks Google!
      "Man chases power but
      He does not know
Let the great limit be as it will appear
In the palm he holds an idea that does not live
      That's in his fantasy
      He wanted ...
If you don't notice that then
Nothing makes sense to you anymore
you live only for yourself "

If there would be an award for the greatest performance of all times, it would be this masterpiece.

This song is legendary. James Brown recorded it back in 1966 when he was 33, this video was filmed in 2002, so he was 69 years old and yet still sounded just as impactful as he did decades before. One of the true masters of Soul, the Godfather.

Probably one of the most influential people in hip hop, rap music wouldn't be what it is without James Brown.

In the 1960.s I heard enough James Brown almost every day and could not stand it or many others of the time. Man was I wrong. I hear all the same today and love it. They were all ahead of their time.
