Very few can do justice to a Stevie Wonder song, Pavarotti is one of the few.
I have seen this many times. It helps that Stevie wrote the song for the occasion. Others wanted Pavarotti be a back up singer for them for their one hit wonder songs. Both are class acts. RIP Luciano. Long life to you Stevie Wonder.
I highly doubt anyone wanted oavarotti to sing back up, these were all pavarotti's concerts. It was pavarotti and friends not friends with pavarotti in the background. You are ridiculous and stevie was not the only artist who wrote a song specifically for Luciano, dozens of artists did

I always gave credit to Pavarotti's courage in these collabs with pop & r&b singers through the years, but they always ended up sounding like two different songs playing at the same time. This time is totally different. Even when they sing at the same time the voices don't clash, and Stevie Wonder's songwriting is something Pavarotti was able to connect with.

HOW BEAUTIFUL ... a great sign of respect from Stevie Wonder, in that he learned some Italian to sing at this momentous occasion. You can see him smile when Pavarotti, who obviously hadn't rehearsed much, hit a high note, or held a note through many phrases, It just didnt matter, he had only so much time, and he probably knew his days were measured at this point. Some things just should never end. It did end for me when Stevie reached up and grabbed Pavarotti's hand because the tears welled up and I couldn't see any more.
Wonder had the enough power to follow the tone of Luciano, Awesome song beautiful message.

everytime I saw Stevie's singing I can feel his love,passion and soul thru the music. He's such a wonderful musician. I saw him a couple days ago in Java Jazz Festival 2012 in Jakarta. When the show end, my tears drop by it self. I don't know why, but later I think becoz I'm in to Stevie's music and I can understand all the msg of his songs. I don't think us, who is normal, can do the same thing he did for the world. God bless Stevie

In this song I finally understand what it is to be a solo singer when they were singing together. Pavarotti was uncompromised, he sings his part, like it was the most important thing in his life and yes, the difference between them were visible, but he sang it so angelicely Im glad he didnt went down with intensity.
