    Harley should sell basket cases, so people can fix or repair before assembling.

    It's not just someone building a hotrod, they are probably doing a big build due to the fact the crankshaft run-out is past HD specifications.... Thats usually why people do a full build...🤔..

    Question from a guy learning. Did you use the 4.5" stroke flywheel or upgrade to 4 5/8"? I believe stock pistons can be used with the 4.5" but have to be changed for the 4 5/8" correct?

    Two questions... why not do a Timpkin bearing conversion, and is it ok to leave the counter balancers out? I assume not, but i thought i'd ask.

      If it was a Twin Cam I would have done the Timken conversion. In my opinion the Timken conversion on M8's is still up for debate. Have talked with different builders and there doesn't seem to be a solid consensus for it either way. Time will tell I guess. As far as the counterbalancer's, yes you can leave them out but you need a spacer in each spot where the balancer used to be and make sure your crank is set up for no balancers .

      @jpcycles hi Patrick, to confirm, it looks like you used a upgraded koyo bearing rather than the HD bearing? Would you be able to confirm the koyo part number please?

    Doesn’t belt need to be around transmission sprocket before installing swing arm pivot bolt?

    Which bearing did you use? If I remove the balancer on a bagger, would I need to get the bearings out of the case?

    How much will it cost to get that done on a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra Classic?

    Great video! Will take my crankcase out this weekend. My question regarding the S&S flywheel. Did you check the run out after you installed it and how good was it? Do you know how true they are? I have a Feuling race oil pump and the tolerances are really tight. Still thinking about to get mine trued and welded.

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  Před rokem

      yes, I did check the runout it was less than a half of a thousandth. Which is what S&S claims on their flywheel assemblies

    Hi Patric, do you know the power rating of your hydraulic press? The part number of the grey Jims tool to guide the flywheel in?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The press is a 20 ton from Harbor freight. I cant seem to find the P/N for the grey tool. Honestly you could use a piece of PVC or just be really careful.

    How do you sych your balancers on a touring M8?

  • @godwillsavethosewhotrusthi4778

    Why wouldn't you clean the case BEFORE you install new bearings and components, it's kinda redundant to use abrasive paper to sand the edges of the case matings AFTER installing a new bearing in the case!? Now you are introducing particulates into the newly installed bearing and race assembly. Just an observation, you should comment in your video to clean before installing new components?? Otherwise you may have debris that takes out the bottom end!
