I’m glad I waited this one looks like the best one yet
Thanks for your kind words! 🙏
just bought my 2019 trd pro last sat. perfect timing
Woohoo! Congrats on the new rig!!
What a great video guy.. this job on this runner it is incredible. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much! We appreciate you!
Might be one of the most articulate instructional videos ever
Thanks a ton! I'll pass that love on to our media team! We appreciate ya!
I just had a local shop install this in my 2006 Infinity G35 coupe. I love how it uses the original controls on the steering wheel. I didn't get much time to go through the features yesterday but wanted to see if there's like a separate bass boost control besides the EQ otherwise I might need to get a subwoofer put in. That's the only thing lacking from my end but everything else is great and obviously not the fault of the radio.
Very cool!!
Looks like a smooth set up
We agree! Thank you!
I had this model installed last weekend in a 2016 Wrangler. I have to go back to get it modified so that I can listen to the radio with the KEY in the ACC position .
Pssst! Check out www.bantamoverland.com for all of your Jeep needs!
Those interested in the 14 eq bands, likely are interested in quality sound as well, I’d recommend getting the 6000 over this model for better sound and better screen feel overall. The 4000 is definitely the cheaper option and doesn’t pack a lot of sound performance.
@Dirk Digler the main differences in the 6000 vs. 4000 are: the 6000 has a capacitive screen, the preamp is 5 volts vs. 2 in the 4000, the 6000 has a USB HDMI input in the back and the 6000 has a 3 year warranty vs. a 1 year in the 4000. Otherwise, the specs are the same. Not sure I'd agree that the sound is that different between the 4 and 6 but the 6000 (which I just installed) is a heck of a lot better than the stock 4Runner head unit. Definitely recommend.
I just finished installing this on my '17 SR5 Premium (Non-JBL). The instructions here, and on the Sony-Mic install video, are literally as easy as Cliff makes it look here. I took my sweet-@ss time and the install from start to finish was about 1hr45min. The longest part of the install was getting SiriusXM customer service to transfer my subscription over. (Yes, I'm a Gen-Xer who still uses it). Anyway, if you've been on the fence about taking on a project like this I highly recommend it. It is such a massive upgrade over stock.
I also took the time to change the color of my a/c side panels and the stereo trim from silver to high gloss charcoal. I got the side panels from a Toyota dealer online.
This is so awesome to hear!! We are super pumped you're happy and great job on the installation!! We appreciate you very much!!
I have some questions, I have a 2019 4Runner limited, does the rear camera come up when you put in reverse. And can you keep the mic that came on my Toyota and just plug into the Sony? And is the screen bigger than the one in my car? Was wondering if I can just swap out the screen portion with the new Sony Apple CarPlay, that way I still have dials for radio and stuff. My dash isa little different than the one in video.
Is having the Maestro module what allows the unit to provide the customization of vehicle settings such as setting door locks feedback beeping and lights blinking, etc...?
That is correct!
Looks like its so much faster UI wise than the other models. Maestro and wireless make this a HUGE upgrade. Any plans for the 6000 series?
Yep, we got it right here: trailgridpro.com/products/sony-xav-ax6000-plug-play-bundle-10-23-4runner/
@@TrailGridPro What’s the story on the Maestro unit? I don’t see it in the video at all. Is it mounted to the head unit? I know everything comes pre-wired, but it’s not mentioned at all, unless I missed something
thanks for the video, it very helpful i am buying one soon , also considering to buy a backup camera install it together, do you know if this unit support 1080P back up camera input or not?
Great question! I believe it will depending on the format of the video signal - we have only tested 720p cameras with these units so far.
Very cool set up. I have a 2022 TRD ORP with the 360 view trail cam. Is this compatible and have you guys thought of creating a 360 rear cam relocate? I also have a RIGD swing out but as you know the rear cam is blocked with the 360 view and nobody makes a relocate for it. - Thomas
Yep, our Sony 9500, 6000 and 4000 bundles are compatible with the 360 cams!
Will this work with the mid 2020 + 4Runners that have a different hazard button harness? Metra kit sent to me from Crutchfield would not fit my newer hazard button assembly…
Yep, ours works with 2020+ ... we worked with Metra to fix the hazard bezel for 2020+ 4Runners and we're the only company that has them at this point! Order away!
This is an insane amount of work just to disconnect everything and mount everything. There has to be other radios with the dash kits already installed
There are definitely other options out there! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! We appreciate you!
Does this metra dash kit fit a Toyota Highlander 2014? I’m looking to purchase the Sony XAV-AX4000 and don’t wanna’ keep the old Highlander dash.
Nope, won't fit a Highlander. Sorry!
Been thinking about getting this.. can y’all do a setup package for a 2012 kia sorento???
We only work on Toyota's ... sorry!
Hopefully you do it with an older vehicle like a 2007 and 13 Chevy suburban
Only Toyota's at this time. Maybe we'll venture out in the future!
But does it support multi terrain cameras on the newer 4runners? Both side mirrors and front/ back cameras
It does, you can assign them to a steering wheel control function via the maestro flash process.
How is quality in streaming apps with wireless integration vs phone cable connected models?
Super fast! We've been testing it and it's super fast!
Does the Toyota Multi-Information display retain all its' functions? The steering wheel right hand control still work in the Multi-Information Display????
Are you referring the multi-camera functionality?
@@TrailGridPro No, in my current 2022 4Runner OEM configuration, the Multi-Information Display is the center display between the tachometer and the speedometer. The right hand controls on the steering wheel moves/changes the screens left/right and up/down. I am wondering if changing out the audio head unit changes the ability to manipulate or even lose, the Multi-Information Display where the gas mileage/TPMS/Toyota Safety Settings and a few other things are displayed. The multi-camera function on my 4runner is a single pushbutton located on the lower left side of the dash and has Auto function. Thanks for your response - helping me make up mind on whether or not to change out the head unit. If carplay is the big nugget to changing it out - I already have carplay and am trying to find out other pluses, such as what a tremendous new look the new units give, making the change worthwhile. One big negative seems to be that with a new head unit, I lose the OEM functions of the original multimedia system e.g. Phone, GPS, SXM, FM, AM etc... I know, the new unit + CarPlay adds them back in. Thanks again.
Any chance you guys would make these for 3rd and 4th gen 4runners?
Absolutely - we have them in our plans!
If somebody wanted to just plug it in to play music could they do that or would they still have to connect via Bluetooth
Great question! You can plug your phone in via USB and play music that way!
The one on the website only shows for 2014 and newer. but this video shows that it will work with 2010. Does it it work with 2010-2013?
Yep, we pulled the 2010 - 2013 models for a bit while we work out a couple issues.
@25:59 does that usb port still act as a manual way to play music from your phone thru the head unit, like the factory set up?
absolutely. I just installed this in my 2021 4Runner. I wouldn't have bought it if you couldn't still connect via USB.
@@michaelwboggs be sure to check the operating system.
Mine wasn’t updated and the reverse cam was choppy and delayed.
Yep! Sure does!
Does it work with the anytime front camera? What about the in car wifi?
Yes, it sure does!
Would anything be different for a 2011 sr5 that doesn’t have a screen? I have a normal radio
Our bundle would work perfectly in your vehicle!
@@TrailGridPro thank you for the fast reply
Why did you not retain SXM service? Is that the Sat antenna cable?
Yes, you do! If you select "Maintain SiriusXM" on our product page we'll include the parts to our bundle for you to maintain your factory SiriusXM antenna signal.
Will this need to be plugged into the obd2 port to see the tire pressures, battery voltage, etc? I have a 2016 4runner
In our installation guide we discuss that you can test the gauges without the OBD first and see if they appear - some rigs will not need the OBD in order to get the readings and others will. If you don't see the gauges, or all of the gauges, then all you need to do is simply add the OBD port and you'll be all set.
Many of these trucks will provide that information through the Maestro itself, but in some cases the OBD2 connection is needed in order for TPMS data to display.
Is it possible to get the Sony XAV-AX6000 in a Plug & Play Kit Installation for a 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium
Yes, we sell it right here: trailgridpro.com/products/sony-xav-ax6000-plug-play-bundle-10-23-4runner/
if your car dont have gps is there an option to install it with the kit?
With this unit you can achieve GPS using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto!
Anyone........ So is it possible to get the Sony XAV-AX6000 in a Plug & Play Kit Installation!?
Coming soon!
Is this compatible for 2014 4 runner? How much is the complete bundle? Thanks
Yep, it is compatible with a 2014! Here's the 4000 product page: trailgridpro.com/products/sony-xav-ax4000-plug-play-bundle-10-23-4runner/
And, here's the 6000 product page: trailgridpro.com/products/sony-xav-ax6000-plug-play-bundle-10-23-4runner/
Awesome! I've been waiting for something like this. Toyota stock infotainment system is absolute garbage for 2014. I will be getting one myself.
Why didn’t show how to plug the factory camera…does the Maestro take care of that or something?
It's one of the plugs we plugged in on the install! If you plug them all in your backup camera will work flawlessly!
@@TrailGridPro I apologize, I actually meant to say the Maestro, and if it has to be plugged in to the OBDII port, cause I didn’t see that in the video.
Can I still use my volume and tune knobs in my 2016
Those all come out with the factory head unit, so they aren't retained with our kit.
Is it possible to use the factory microphone?
Our kits do require use of our provided Sony microphone and we include a mic mount with our kit that allows you to store the mic in the 4Runner factory mic location.
Can I still use the steering wheel buttons with this?
Yes, absolutely!
there is another option with an 8 or 10” screen?
Yep, check out the Sony 9500ES: czcams.com/video/oih7MyXOQrQ/video.html
Does it come with the Xm radio adapter?
If you select "maintain SiriusXM" on the product page it will come with everything you need!
Is it compatible with the anytime front facing camera?
I would like to know also.
Yep, it sure is!
Yes it is! :-)
Need that OEM fitment
🙌
Do you have a kit for 2011?
We do, visit our shop here: trailgridpro.com/pages/toyota-4runner-accessories
Me puede funcionar para una NP300 NISSAN
Sorry, only Toyota's at this time.
Will this work with 2023 4runner ?
Yep, it sure will!
