The 787 is a very nice plane, the Qatar 787 could run this route empty of passengers and still make a profit because of the cargo it travels with is enough to make this flight viable, Thank you Qatar for flying to edinburgh

There is no better airline on the skies today :) When I flew emirates, i thought they were the best, but my mind was completely changed when I first flew Qatar in August 2015 on the 777 from DOH to PEK, the aircraft was just 15 days old! No other airline provides stainless steel cutlery on economy class. The flight was so relaxing I simply didn't want us to land... Looking forward to fly Qatar again soon.

Good video.... enjoyed watching it. I will be flying on this route in October. I noticed your flight was late departing (as it seems with many of the flights from Edinburgh) and when I track this flight it always seems to leave late and a lot of the times arrives in Doha late.

am surprised you liked the 787's economy seat! everybody is bashing it. I flew it once from HND and it was kinda tight with big guy next to me, am kinda big myself (6ft, 235lb's). Kinda encouraging to fly QR's 787 again! great video!

I enjoyed your video, btw the music was good. We're flying from EDI to Doha and on to JNB on the 16th Feb and back on the 23rd Feb to EDI. You have given us a very good insight to the flight. I only have one question, if I wanted to use the Wi-Fi how much does it cost? Thumbs up and subscribed
I tried watching the video, but the music was too much. It was very distracting and jarring. I wanted to like the trip report, but the music really took away from it.

Great video, after the music stopped @ 2:45, but kicked in again @ 16:00, so I gave up. I was born in Edinburgh, so this appeals to me more, along with seeing my house shortly after departure :) Fact. Did you know that your seat tray is designed at a 3 degree angle, so as when your in the air, it remains flat during flight? You can see this on the ground, as your tray will tilt upwards ever so slightly ;) Thank you for the good quality video, although not the music, which was unnecessary.
I've still got my cutlery on my recent flight from dub - perth via LHR. Qatar is only a 5 star airline in first or business. Apart from the high proffesional standards of cabin crew (best I have ever experienced in economy), everything else is almost a standard economy experience. The A380 however felt more like premium economy, it was the most comfortable and most quiet plane I have ever flown on.
Great video! Does anyone know if that flight is typically that quiet? Not sure particularly with ethihad starting next month (I think) how cost effective that is.

am flying on this exact flight this Thursday from Edinburgh to Doha. I want to ask you of the luggage allowance for this particular flight. Do you get to bring 2 pieces of hand luggage (A laptop backpack for under the seat and a normal traveller bag for over the head storage)?
MaDaNi991 I'm not overly sure what their policy is as I put my laptop bag in my cabin luggage... But I don't think they'll be overly paranoid about it, as gathering from my experience from this flight and also the fact that I work at Edinburgh Airport, the flight is never usually busy. I hope you have a nice flight! Truly a fantastic airline :-)

Whilst this is a few years on I think it is relevant, first off take off and landing times are from push back and doors opening times, this is when compensation can be claimed. Also Air India, Emirates and Etihad also give Champagne if you ask, I've had it and I usually just have brandy and coke or gin and tonic. As an English man in Spain I usually fly from Madrid and the choice of Planes to Bangkok via these mid point hubs gives me a choice of different aircraft and 787 Dream(iner is the worst choice in my opinion and try to avoid but times are more important to me, for instance an early flight means travelling a day earlier and having a night in a hotel close to the airport with free transfer, and likewise when coming back. Economy class is a bonus for the airline as business and first class pay for the flight but I have only ever been on one flight with so few economy passengers as that flight. I enjoyed the video except for the screaming kid, thank you.

Its one of the newest airlines of Saudi but is in strong partnership with Qatar Airways..... Yeah got a trip coming up whilst on a trip :-P Taking a drive down to Muscat and going to be staying there for a couple of days from Thursday!! :-D How was your trip to Amsterdam the other week?
airplanes1000 Nice one, I do like a trip within a trip myself (just realised its better to use my KLM miles when in the USA with Delta - lot less taxes)! Amsterdam was good, got a new camera so was trying out some spotting pics (think you saw them on my instagram). Going back over in a couple of weeks as work commitments are keeping me to shorthaul trips for the next few weeks then I'm hoping for a longhaul somewhere nice.

+ScottishFlyerHD Nah not anymore. Both the Etihad and the Qatar go onto Stand 10A but its still extremely close to the terminal building... Surprisingly they manage to fit in...

Families with little kids should be seated in separate area of the plane. There is nothing worse than annoying crying kids.

Hmm I'd still fly with Qatar :-P The last time I flew with Emirates I thought that they've gone downhill dramatically in the past few years.... Apparently their considering the 787 as they cancelled their orders for the A350...
Well, I've only flown business class with them, never been at the coach end, although it seems alright.
Jackson2207 Emirates were originally due to fly to edinburgh but they wanted to much from edinburgh airport, mainly a stand for emirates aircraft all day, for sole use, edinburgh didnt give them what they wanted so they went to glasgow. Qatar is a good airline and the 787 is a great aircraft but unfortunetly Qatar have become expensive and next time i fly to asia i will fly with Etihad from Edinburgh, Compettition is on
No airlines can ever compete against Qatar Airways. The airline is just to good lol! Tickets are at a good price anyways

I've never been with them, but I've travelled 4 times with Emirates, and I can honestly say that Qatar offers much more detail and a better passenger experience, with younger aircraft, special treatment, superb crew, wonderful food and they definitely stand above Emirates. For a reason, they are also cheaper! And offer more destinations! Why would I fly EK when there is QR?

Anyone noticed that Qatar Airways is the only major carrier without exterior cameras on their planes? At the time I flew with A7-BEE, it was the youngest 777 in the skies (15 days old!) but still no cameras. That's annoying! Even some small regional airlines in Europe, like Aegean, have equipped their aging A320s with cameras!

The 787 doesn't have any window shades, instead it has electronic dimmers, you seen him Dim his window down. That's the feature.
Yah I noticed it when I was on a 787 last week, certainly helps if you wanna look out the window but not be blinded by the brightness
