For anyone who hasn't seen his full sets or his recent live streams, do yourselves a favor and watch them in their entirety. There's absolutely nobody doing the kind of improvisational production at this level, hands down. What he's accomplished in his career should be the bar for electronic music production and performances. DJ culture needs to take a knee to this level of artistry.
@@saywhat303 Music is the foundation, Producers are the prophets, Dj's are the pastors, and the clubs are the churches. B^)
I'm no professional and never had any qualification in music or anything but this dude's content is nuts and has been, even his content from 10 years ago is so unique
DØVYDAS?? Marc Ribbilet?
@@xXimf4m0usXx he is amazing in his own right but definitely not on the same level as beardyman, I’d argue Marc’s style is heavily heavily based on what BM has been doing for years
I mean Mr.Wobbles does similar stuff withe improvised live producing. but i think beardyman is a bit more experienced, but you should still check out mrwobbles stuff. he is sick
Beardyman is the Jimi Hendrix of live improvised electronic music.
Have u ever seen Kink?
22:34 Very nice to see Beardyman added our granular plugin SaltyGrain to his setup! A real genius at live electronic music improvisation!
Nice pluggin there
I've been watching him in 2008 already, when his live setup was only hardware. It simply amazes me how much he evolved. Watched this video from start to end. Nice job guys.
Yh man I remember being a kid watching his recording of live shows he's done and it's mad what he's done inspired me to fanny about a bit with music production software and that
@@guymagson1230 Saaame bruh!
I remember when he had a free show in my town and i got focken bonkers. Amazing dude.
This level of dedication just to minimise latency is a beautiful obsession and deserves max respect. To see the level of progression from kp3s is insanity. Beardyman you’re a legend.
Well latency is the killer here! So it's not exactly juust minimising latency, too much latency would make the whole thing impossible to use!
Thank you Chris Martin from Coldplay, I didn't know you were a fan of Beardyman as well!
ahahahaaaa yeah
Also, is there any chance the Foreman brothers' parents have written a book on how to foster and nurture talented kids, because I would read the shit out of that
Plugin is: Manipulator by Polyverse Music.
We've all at some point just wished that we could get the groove, melody, bass etc. that's in our head and just upload it directly into our software. Only Beardyman has actually achieved this.
Great, great comment.

Y'all took the time to edit in a jumpscare, but didn't bother figuring out who made the preset lol
ive been writing electronic music on and off for 20 years and this setup gives me anxiety at its complexity, hes a mad genius
Beardyman is the best thing in live, electronic music. EveR. Mind blowing
First decent explanation I have found of how this is setup, super informative. He’s taken a lot of ideas and put them together in really interesting ways, truely one of the greats.
33:24 "It's not pretty, but nor is your mum."
this has to be the most pure form of techno/electronic music. he's literally creating it live out of his head and into the speakers and out to the audience. i find those big famous dj's complete and utter garbage and fakes compared to beardyman. i wish he becomes super and ultra famous and rich.
Djs are there to play music for people to enjoy. They don't have to be musicians as well. Get your priorities straight. Also wide knowledge of music and what to play for the crowd your playing for is far more important than technical DJ skills.
@@Wolfsheim23 To be fair, a lot of DJs pretend to affect the music my making dramatic knob twists and flamboyant button presses. This is what it looks like when there's no pretence.
...waited for this for years
Cool, I thought since the first beadytron the iPads were running custom software doing the actual processing, but they are controling expert sleeper and FX plugins sat on ableton... That as a concept makes this more achievable, tho obviously years of layers complexity and refienment from a master creator is what makes it work! Great deeper explanation vid , thanks
SELEKTROw I have been trying to recreate a similar set up for years but I have no idea what I’m doing lol
I just had this same revelation! Given that the iPads are simply controlling things in Ableton, designing a similar rig is just a matter of setting things up in a DAW and configuring control surfaces... Very doable! Props to the Master tho 👌
@@DJPhazer simples controllers, in practice tho pretty complex, his daw setup is massive!
He mentioned someone programming stuff for him in C
@@jondoe8o someone programmed the custom control interfaces that run on the ipads... Probably using OSC or MIDI to control parameters in Ableton.
Clean Shaveyman! Great vid from a legend - cheers peeps!
Just discovered Beardyman. Thanks for this run-down! He’s cracked the code of real-time live music production on a level I haven’t seen before. I think the real key is using his voice. He eliminates the need for diving through presets, designing patches and scrolling through pages of drum samples all in one fell swoop. Brilliant.
Thank you Beardyman for this share. That's so generous!
This is modern magic. He's a wizard.
First time I heard Beardy was at Glade festival 2007 (remember that monsoon!). Needless to say he tore the place down. What a legend, such a ridiculously creative live performer 👊😎
Watched every second, had no idea what the hell he was on about but it was absolutely amazing!! Pure genius 🙌
Super sick set up. Must be fun when it’s all going
I badly needed this!!! I was even considering flying to England (?) to find Beardyman and ask him about his gear 😄 And here it is! Thanks guys!
Upajā I’ve been trying to recreate for years he’s a genius
He have Patronite and if you become a Patreon, you got this information and many more :)
Dobra, teraz przeczytałem dokładnie Twój nick.
It's complete and utter madness!! And I absolutely love it !! =D
5:31 - to the video editors at Computer Music -- you forgot to do something... here
Absolut mad lad. Love it.
Undisputeable fact:
Darren Beardyman the most innovative live producer in the world
Is anyone else remotely close to this level of production, comedy and creative spontaneity??
If there is I need to know!
Excellent video, i have always been curious about his rig
Thank you so much for these insights!
It’s like a little glimpse into his brain. Amazing.
the Manipulator plugin is by Polyverse
Legend
this man is honestly a full act, that intro was crease XD
damn next level
amazing
Clever dude and then some.... thanks for this.
This presentation Chris Martin is giving of Beardyman's system is giving me juice to start programming my rig ASAP. I have so many ideas brewing.
Beardy is a underground king!
he is overloaded
THE GOAT!!!
Beardyman should use the new macro snapshots feature in live 11 to handle some of his fx variations etc. It's prolly a lot less scripting and a lot easier to edit presets on his buttons than it was when he built this. Or maybe he built this v5 rig after live 11 launched idk I couldn't tell. For real though these Beardytrons need to be available to others. This rig is so cool and even if it was like $20k, I have to assume there are plenty of touring artists who could and would take advantage of having a live setup like this. Find a way to bring Beardytron to the masses and it will change the way modern music is performed.
The beardy guy !
Hey. Impressive work. Thanx lot! Really wanted to saw in to your setup) So why not to use dummy racks in tracks that's like utility group just sending the control. Also, did you digging into clyphx or bidule?
everytime I watch Beardy I kinda want to give up on music.....he's that good
Everyone has their signature talents. Think of yourself like Mega Man and borrow from your favorite artists. Make something new and unique. Speaking of assimilating powers...
*eyes Beardyman* e.e
Beardyman is probably the best at creating music out of his head on the fly, but he is pulled in way too many directions to focus on creating single great songs people will listen to for years and years. Like this guy Reinhardt Buhr is very similar to Beardyman, not as skilled at changing things up so fast, but he's more into using these skills to refine his music. You can focus on things where he is not. Anytime you see him live or in interviews, you see he's kinda got ADD..
@@Wolfsheim23 +1 for Reinhardt. It's just a shame - to me, personally - that his beautiful music is tainted with Christianity.
@@TheValueOfN Oh geez.. tainted. Maybe your ears are tainted by too much BS.
Thanks. This is very interesting. Bit surprised he still is using Apple after his rant about them not too long ago.
btw
- Infected Mushroom worked with Polyverse to create Manipulator
i watched him when he was using only kaos pads. he is pure talent and underrated artist
Yep he could even create an amazing performance while walking down the street and ONLY using one Kaos Pad.
Super great! Is it possible to still access the other video he was talking about ?
I think this is it: " To watch the full video, including an exclusive Beardyman performance, buy CM278 (February 2020) "
8:02 best bit
Msuperlooper just dropped..I wonder if that will simplify things a bit..?.. his set up is sonic wizardry 🧙♂️
Simply amazing. I wonder if this tool can be picked up by others. Is it open source? Could I download the template to ableton and link up an iPad?
Also.. these beat demonstrations are bonkers. Loved the first beat.
It's funny to compare the functionality of Beardyman's rig to that of the OP-1
Man he's so funny
for part 2 subscribe his patreon
I need about a four hour version of this I'm a total noob but I pretty much get what's goin on, I have MacBook Pro, Hercules 500 controller, I'm waiting on a behringer 1204usb mixer, I have all the cables to hook everything up and I can use Serato poorly, I just need a little guidance
No part 2?
fuckin legend
The human voice is an amazing thing. But Beardymans voice is beyond human
FUCKING BRILLIANT MATE!
14:20 is this still true today about Ableton's Looper plugin not having delay compensation?
Quick question! What mic is he using?
One day I will steal his Ipad
what programs does he use on tablets?
guys whats the name for that vocal sampler vst, at 6:17
Anyone know what he uses his launchpad for?
Is there part 2 to it?
Imagine accidentely pushing the Home button in middle of hotest drop.
Genuine question, why do so many professionals use macbooks?
What is his audio interface?
inseyn hocam
No smudges or fingerprints. I bet beardyman has to clean his hands real well before doing music
i think he doesn't do anything else than music tho :D
@8.05 - thats the beardyman i know...
I like the part when he does the thing with a thing
Hey guys good morning,
i like this video it's a good walk through his gear. I have troubles to understand when Beardy talks about his vst looper .. it's about 13m35sec and 15m00sec he names it. Can I kindly ask you people to help me undercover what is he saying at that moment. Do you anyone know pleasseEEE :)
@@2f126 thank you so much dude. amazing. very greatfull :)
i'm surprised Beardyman does not use iConnectivity interface, they are best with iPad...
Wait, where is part 2?!
35:15
where is part 2?
Request to rename Ableton Live to Ableton Delay
Nothing comes close to the way he makes live electronic music.
i still don't get it, awesome
That intro could have come straight from one of his brother's videos 😂
Music is ten times louder than voice almost blew out my speakers wtf man
33:20 Mom Joke Extended: Augustus Loop.. It's not pretty neither is your mom but it does the job so does your mom 🤣
Am I on crack? It does say "PLAID" at the start, doesn't it?
Ha ha I noticed that as well wtf.
@@deanandthebeans857 Damn. Why isn't it working properly?
No tuts on Augustus loop anywhere fml
I'm trying to figure it out as well. Will let you know if I get anywhere. Did you manage to recreate anything in Lemur?

They didn't add the name of the coders of Manipulator as promised? Dick move, Banner...
Beardyman, I love your stuff, but you should release the source on your software! Who is going to compete with you, honestly?
"Electronic music producers aren't real musicians"
D jays is actually the first part of that phrase
5:28 editor is slacking
It’s nice that Joseph Fiennes has a hobby……😅
dude looks like jay foreman
Fun fact, they are actually brothers!
as per his recent livestreams, this 'rig' is now out of date
That's the way of it, isn't it.
