Can I explain how the Beardytron works in less than 5 minutes?

I am working hard on the next iteration of my rig. It's the most ambitious rebuild I've ever done, incorporating some ideas I've had sitting around for years and never implemented, and some I've had to innovate from scratch to make this new system work. Some of these innovations will be becoming products you can use in your own system. The best way to become a beta tester and get the devices I build for myself is to join the Patreon and you can get involved and be the first to try tech as I develop it!
See you there!

Even shorter explanation: it works because Beardyman is the best!
resisting the urge to make a catchphrase joke
Even shorter: FX!
What a time to be alive
I feel like I’m watching a commercial channel but the host didn’t show up so they grabbed some guy from tech support to stand in. Awesome.
There won't be another person like this for another 100 years.
They could try... I can't see anyone being on his level, he's not only the original of his cohort, he is the only one in his cohort 😂 I've followed him for years and it's the best feeling ever seeing him be more and more relevant and successful over the years, goals!!
There will be
That could be true. I've been following him for over a decade and still no one else on the planet does anything quite like this.
@@brianwilson8088 your not looking in the right places. Twitch search the internet more explore. People do extraordinary things all the time.
More like 2000 years. I’ve always imagined Jesus been like him
You deserve your own radio station in GTA6!
I legit think they'd go for it!
The Beardytron is a beautiful piece of engineering and deserves to be patented and protected.
It's a work of damn art.
when he opened ableton, I finally understood: he's insane.
I mean , I got it, he really did explain it perfectly
This is the kind of gear setup insanity that put man on the moon! Awesome! More of this please.
However, I notice the new setup STILL doesn't contain any 'tinned salmon'. Its good to know that even after all these years and numerous offers of 'handsome remuneration' from Tufton Street lobbyists allegedly representing 'John West' you've resisted. Much respect.
That was the most helpful explanation of the Beardytron I have seen so far, and it's still mindblowing. I understand music tech so I know what every explanation meant, but I'm mentally exhausted trying to remember where everything is. Beardyman's brain is exceptional.
10/10 tutorial I now know how to build my own beardytron from scratch using discarded pizza boxes and stolen paperclips
you'll never get the beardyman AI 100% correct, though, even by observing it you've moved the goal posts
ive always wanted to see the screens up close and now i regret it LOL
I discovered your channel 15 years ago when you were making demos for Korg for the Kaoss pads. I had no idea you were still around and making music. Subscribed!
Now can we get an hour or two long version on patreon which focuses more on the actual ipad layout and logic behind how you create? I loved the signal routing stream and it was very helpful in my own rig as well. Great content, can recommend to everyone interested.
Bloody Brilliant! Not only in the tool, but the shear ability to do this level of complexity on live video and make it as intense and rich as he does.... 🤯
Really not too complicated, just super impressive as a whole system.
0:23 Literally says it is complicated
@@hbarnett 😂
@@hbarnett it's not that complicated, if you've used a DAW for a while, you'll probably understand every panel/button that is on there. it's just complicated because there is a lot of stuff in very little space and he has built it for his own workflow.
Aw hell yeah bringing Supermodal into the mix!! Also thanks for making this, we nerds soak it tf up
The experimental pad looks really interesting, with the euclidean sequencer! Awesom behind the scenes look but my real appreciation goes for using the same alarm tone as I
It sounds like this is a lot less custom than it was several years ago. I remember watching a talk by you where you were talking about synchronizing three different audio clocks and stuff like that. Which would be at a much lower level than just having an Ableton session with a bunch of plugins and presets and some well-refined OSC control.
Hey, Mr Beard - just wanted to say that although this was a super quick whistle stop tour, the Beardytron™ is not so overwhelming to look at any more. This video really helped to break down what each thing was and I managed to follow along just fine :)
Never change x
Impressive! Well done with the tanget alerts. I've always wondered what you were clicking and now we can understand on a very basic level. Thanks!
Augustus Loop is a wonderful name
Nice to see how it works. It's been a while since I wondered what could be in these iPads. Thank you for the explanation.🎉
You were a major serotonin boost during Melbourne's hard lockdown. I was a patron when i was able to be. Waking up at absurd o'clock for a stream was exciting and entertaining. Hope to see you live when you tour Australia
His intelligence and skill level are of the charts. He's like an Einstein, octopus hybrid!
This actually did the trick. Good job!
that was awesome, thanks for sharing part of your process! i loved the real time test to see if you could do it, that made it all the more exciting actually, haha.
Fascinating. I always assumed you’d had your own software made , but you’re using all stuff I known and understand. Love your work so much ❤
This was so entertaining to watch live. Madness, beardyman.
Strange... I was listening to you warming up for a gig earlier and thought to myself he needs to do a vid on what the heck his set up is....low and behold my mind is being read... 👍👍 Nice
Damn, 3 days later the CZcams algorithm did the exact same thing to my brain lol
This is exactly what I wanted to know about your rig thank you!
That was just stressful enough. Good content!
Really amazing to see from where you came from, using a Duck and a single KP3
Thank you so much for sharing this.
It was cool. Even the high level overview of what each ipad is for gives me context when watching you. Bravo!
I was in the crowd at that show at the beginning! Shoutout Cyprus, and nothing but love to Beardyman, thanks for an unforgettable show man, that club was bumpin'!
Dude is a musical savant
iPad 1 made sense. My brain was just processing the 8 way selectors for iPad2 and then my eyes glazed over at all the other stuff and how it all changes based on the presets of the 8-ways! I started thinking about the level of routing that must go on behind all this and my brain melted. I heard something about iPad 3 controls the "pad-like" sounds, which is Pad-ception. iPad 4 was pretty colours and experimental iPad 5 was a retro 2d platformer I think. Good work! Much clearer now. Also, you're a genius! ;)
I remember watching you'd kaoss pad video way back when.
You smashed through it easy mate, watched it on X2 and you did the rig in less than 2 1/2 minutes. Don't doubt yourself brother 👊
Your way of making is so awesome. Such a wide channel for imagination into creation.
You're a Wizard Beardy!!
Love the stressfulness! Thank you for this.
Stress is a part of life, we are here for you man. Even in the stressful situations.
Very excited to see your setup integrated with Loopy Pro
stressful indeed but definitely worth watching. thanks beardy!
Absolutely sick!
I feel like only beardy, who could beatbox that well, could list off that many details so quick lol seems like a really crazy set up, I was never even aware you could change the automation like that, super crazy. Ive used ableton my whole life pretty much and only use the arrangement view lol
Yes! Love what you do.
This is amazing content hahaha I love the gameshow kind of vibe with the warnings :D Big up Beardy, LEGEND!
This has been what I wanted to know for years
I've been wanting to see you for SO long... Was gutted that it didn't happen at Boomtown 2019... But I'm THERE for it next week 👌🏼😎🥳
He was awesome at boomtown 2023!
So basically you're 6 months away from inventing time travel! That's one insane setup.
i actually think he is already back from his future timetravel....
Seems pretty straight forward 😮
That was excellent!!
Intense but nerdy good!
Good to see the transition to Loopy Pro is going…. Well?
Would LOVE to interview you on my How Do You Loop? Series!
Thoughts? Concerns? 50/50? Phone a friend?
have been waiting for this for so long xD
This video is an uncut gem
Thank you dude
Hahahaha, excellent vid. What a gifted, hard-working artist you are, it's amazing.
These touchOsc customizations are mad.
Pure genius can't be explained.
So basically it's one of those sound FX keychains from the early nineties.
THANK YOU BEARD FACED MAN!
I'm not even into music production, and I'm sure that was stressful trying to squeeze and explain how your software works in tandem with the hardware that into such a narrow timeframe. But It's always very interesting, so good job!
Great to hear you're still using Turnado. Think I heard you mention you have Manipulator in there too which is sick. This really cleared up a lot of what I had wondered for years. Very impressed that it all works in realtime and live. That Ableton project looks super intense, I know it's years in the making but still that is mad. I wonder how long it takes to open it
Super user friendly! I can't wait to easily pick this up and use it. :P
I just wanna say, that i like your music and you, as a person.
Your emotions, when i see that you do what you love. Hope one day i will shake your hand and say "hey, thats me, that strange guy, from the comments at CZcams"😀
Man! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, because of you i started beatboxing.
Now i have a beautiful wife, that makes music.
This video was very helpful for her. Thanks, Beardy!😅
The only word that comes to mind after watching this: Respect!
good to see another touch OSC user... custom layouts for the win.. .very hard and meticulous work
Yes! TouchOSC is lovely!
I love how he sounds just like Bad Company in the opening part! Mad as!
My head... hurts, it hurts
Thx! Great video!
well done
still waiting for the marc rebillet
collaboration it would be super cool
Nah, that weirdo can stay in his bubble.
I feel like when I had no idea how you do it I had more of an idea :D
Mass respect for using Valhalla, fell in love with that thing five years ago and still can’t believe each plug-in is as cheap as it is.
Watched and loved.
Congratulations Beardy, you can fly airplanes now :)
the voice goes in, music comes out That's the very simplified "How the besardytron works."
That's the tl;dr
Now that I’ve been using a setup involving 4 different synths, each with their own Kaoss pad, I understand why you’d want more options and a more efficient set up.
Pretty wild. Reminds me of the setups of the early pioneers like Isao Tomita and Francois de Roubaix
1) I appreciate it that you show your mistakes and crashes on your streams. It makes us mere mortals feel better! :)
2) Other than the Launchpad, have you ever gotten the system/process to a point where you felt you could transition some of the controls to physical controls? Or do you need the automation capabilities, immediate recall, etc. so phyz sliders and knobs would not make sense?
Physical controllers are incapable of doing what i do with touch screens.
@@beardyman Dood, just absolutely phenominal creativity on top of your fantastic talents as a musician. Absolutely crushing it! Cheers brother and much love! 🧡👊🇨🇦👍🧡
I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING. TAKE MY MONEY
lookmumnocomputer type explanation beat
thank you for the rig rundown any%
thanks to the planet being spherical, you dont have to look back when youre this ahead
So... you mangle your voice from the mic with the top middle ipad, record loops of it with the top halves of the two left ipads, make those sound crunchy and warbly with the bottom halves of the two left ipads, control all those loops at once with the paint samples on the top right ipad for sick drops? Got it
THANKS
Well, pure skills in both creating and explaining(ish) all that! If you want my 10p, I pretty much followed what you were saying. How all that was implemented in ableton.... Hmm, try that in 5 mins 😂🤔
Oh right, when you put it like that it's actually really simple and now I can explain it to my mum.
whoa, well done hahah. hours of fun. thats some ableton project . id say theres some work gone into that puppy!
So that's how it all works. I am glad I fully understand it all now...
@beardyman the best ever!
My answer to that question when people ask me as a producer I just say... It's because beardyman made it, whatever it is it is..it is what it is (awesome) why? Beardyman. That's why. ❤✌️
You definitely said some words there, that much I do know
Quality!
I didn’t know I wanted to watch that content… but after watching it I DEFINITELY wanted to watch that content!
10k in 24hours isn't bad... Maybe people do want to watch it. But why wouldn't they? You're Beardyman! And what you do is incredible! Love your content. You're awesome. I enjoyed this video. Keep safe my friend
Beardyman!! You're awesome!!! 🤘🎶☮️💚
It may be just skimming the surface, but still, it's a good overview of some of the high-level structure.
You did good.
The most interesting part of your gear (to me) have always been the chaos pads!
Yeah, sometimes I wish he would go back to using just them because, at least, I was able to follow what he was doing
Great!
