10:35 "Watch this trick"
Very impressive
oh nooooo my oil collection
Actually cried laughing at this point
"that was fun until it wasn't"
But it's still funny though XD
Anybody else hear: "Wish my Wife could do That"?
Not a very good timestamp but pretty funny
10:34 is the epitome of “I saw that going differently in my mind.” James cackling in the background was such a cherry on top.
HAMMONNDDDDDD
"that was so funny until it wasnt!"
The realization that James is now a hired associate of the channel is the niftiest little progress achievement
I can’t express how happy I am that you’re hiring your friends and family to uplift them rather than just spending it all on yourself. Hiring James to just muck around with you with cars a couple days a week is fantastic. I love watching you diversify your output and keep your personal interest high.
Also this channel has unironically displaced my watching of people like Junkyard Digs, your editing and personality is much better for much the same type of work.
I honestly found Junkyard Digs while trying to find more content similar to Garbage Time! But, Dank and James just make the most off the wall car content you can't find anywhere else. I wish more people would just go to salvage yards and look through all the cars and just have a laugh at them like Dank and James did!
10:38 Gotta love that genuine James laugh
James pissin himself while Wade assess the damage and the "Oh NO!"s get worse is always amazing.
As a guy who knows nothing about cars except how to drive them, this project excites the heck out of me.
i don't even know how to drive and i find it exciting
@@maclura me too lol
He probably got one of the best nugget cars to start with too, most everything on these can be done with a few simple hand tools and they're very simple systems. He'll have this thing on the road in under 3 weekend I bet.
As a guy who knows nothing about cars, INCLUDING HOW TO DRIVE THEM-
Same. I can't understand half the things they're saying in this video but I'm still along for the ride lmao
Things wrong:
Brakes are totally gone
Clutch destroyed
Destroyed tyres
"Interior"
CV boots
Steering rack boots
Front brake pads/rotors
Tyres from 2001
Rear brakes cooked
Air FIlter
7 year old fuel in tank
Spark leads
Cylinder 2 low compression
Blocked radiator full of bugs
Fuel pump
Cooling pipe fittings
Ruined our premium work bench
Head is gross
(All that stuff at 11:00 that I'm not going to write down... oh screw it)
Tail lights
Tyres (again)
Wiper heads
Side window rubbers
Plugs and leads
Points and condenser
Distributor cap
Belts including timing kit
Battery
Battery hold down
Battery terminals
Radiator hoses
Thermostat and gasket
Belt tensioner pulley
Coolant reservoir
Fuel filter
Front indicator lenses
Get radiator reconditioned
All brake hoses
Brake master cylinder
Wheel cylinders
Rear brake shoes
Rear brake drums
Rear wheel bearings (I thought these were good?)
Front pads and rotors (again)
Front calipers or kits with pistons
Vrs set
Exhaust manifold to exhaust gasket
Fuel filter (again)
Vac hose
Drive shafts or outer CVs
Rack boots (again)
Strut tops
Carby rebuild kit
Thermostat to heater hose fitting
Clutch plate
Tierod ends (I thought these were good??)
Cv grease
The filth
Things good:
Amazing exhaust system
No rust
Front wheel bearings
Rear wheel bearings
Tie rod ends
Amazing alloy wheels
No visible engine sludge
Timing belt
No engine gore
Cylinder bores
Free cockroach
I think I've gotten everything wrong/good with this fugly beast.
I wondered if someone would pick wheel bearings as being in the list! They’re good, but the drums arent, and the wheel bearings are pressed into the drums. I could reuse them in new drums but it’s not the best practice.
@@Jamesdumpsite Is it just a pain to get them out? I'm not terribly familiar with car stuff lol
@@YakiAttaki it can be tricky to get them out without causing damage but mostly it’s just less work to replace them, they arent normally a very expensive thing.
Extra thing good: friend spider
@@TheLordOfBeans *stares* what spider ?
I love how Mr Dank will glove up whenever he goes in to grab at vintage MP3's, but will literally just grab at manky nugget parts off of a well worn hatchback.
Hi, I don’t know if you will see this, but as a teen who just bought a worn out honda with a big list of issues, seeing how you work on cars in a… carefree way and still manage to produce “an car”, it really inspires me, thank you
That's great! This is definitely how people should approach cars, the cars don't do anything wrong so it's silly to get mad at them
Hope you enjoy slowly fixing up your honda lad
@@victorkreig6089 We'd rather yell at the engineers who designed them, because we know it's not the car's fault. And besides, you gotta let out that frustration somehow
as an aspiring car teen (still a bit too young) you're inspiring me :D
gl with your honda, maybe one day we will get our "an car"s
Dude, im on the same boat (except a less broken and a more so mildly inconvenient boat) and this is inspiring me to actually do something about my car lmao
It's a fine line till you realize that cars are actually pretty simple (at least cars B4 2000) and just taking them apart and keeping parts somewhat organized, it's pretty easy to put back together.
Just jump in and start wrenching shit haha
Personally, this seems like the makings for a great series and I would love it if you continued it. Something so wholesome about it. Love from Canada
Get out while you can
@@danieldubrovin8813 lmao why?
@@Falom because it's Canada
Fixing a car nugget seems like some good tv to me
Me to buddy🇨🇦😁
As someone who doesn't know anything at all about cars or how they work, and doesn't even have a mechanical inclination, I still absolutely love these videos and I am eagerly waiting for the next one. Goes to show, sometimes it's all in the presentation, couldn't be more in love with it.
I am definately not I car guy but this is the first and only car channel I am subscribed to.
Wade's manical hyena-like laughter always warms my heart
This is shaping up to be the greatest series of Daihatsu repair videos since the HubNut Charade.
Which one is going to take the longest though lol
I had to stop watching HubNuts daihatsu repairs, just too frustrating. An engine swap on that could have be done in a morning by a semi-competent DIYer, perhaps a day with multiple food/drink breaks and taking it slow.
That or Marty’s Mira..
@@SunnyD1865 Probably Mr Nut’s Charade, he seems to have lost all interest now he has the mighty Sirion. I don’t think his little elf mate is helping the progress either…
@@lettuce984 The Blue Turd is the GOAT.
seeing wade just call spiders friends makes me happy
Here in Australia, huntsmanss and lots of other spiders are actually cool to have around since they get rid of most pests
Be cool to the critters that don't automatically want to kill you for the crime of existing. Also, you will need all the allies you can get when the laser kiwis show up.
@@LunaWuna im in the UK so nothing here is particularly dangerous. i tend to just let spiders be if they end up in my room, as long as i dont have cobwebs( i dont want to accidentally destroy any!)everywhere theres no harm. theyre just cool little guys who get rid of pests!
Even Wolf-Spiders here in North Carolina give me the HEE-BEE BEE-GEES!! The females leg-span can be larger than you can spread your hand. 😳🤣
@@MAGGOT_VOMIT They're lovely things tho! They hunt down nasty bugs and are good mommas, carrying their kids around with them. Super cool creatures.
I am 44, I live in America, in
Southern California and I am a major gearhead and I'm absolutely entertained by this little craptastic car build.
Edit:
Rock Auto (an online parts store) here in the states claims to have the complete gasket set for a Daihatsu I used a 1988 I'm pretty sure they are all the same but I'm no Daihatsu expert not exactly a common car here.
I just looked again and they have just the head set for 22 bucks USA.
It's definitely worth looking there is actually quite a bit still available... Whats crazy is those cars were rare when I was a kid and they were new but they still have a fair selection of parts.
damn, hope they notice this cuz the sooner they get the head finished, sooner we can see this nugget work.
fun fact, most of the time it's cheaper to get parts from rock auto to Australia, even with freight charge
There's a pretty big daihatsu following in Australia
@@jesusmerkel Australia is like southern California when it comes to car culture so it doesn't surprise me to learn that.
I will be honest I would drive one for a minute until the new wore off.
I'm so happy to hear that you've straight up hired james, you two are amazing together.
This is gonna be the best series on CZcams
Weekly nugget car videos? What a time to be alive!
“Yep” - James
Truly the most inspirational quote I’ve ever heard
Like many said: ''There is nothing more expensive than a free car''. Love the series !
The fact that you've been able to take in a free trashed car and make it into a weekly project is just Straya at it's best, I also love how the tires come from my favorite year "2001"
You mean 20O1?
Yep, what a great year for America, right??
@@memedew6677 Oof, forgot about that sad event, feel sorry for the people and there family's that were affected.
The year I was born! My condition isn't much better than the car's...
@@Utonian21 do you wanna go up on the hoist to see what’s wrong?

doesn't look like much of a team to me, James is doing everything while this guy just makes stupid remarks
@@brad7957 James wouldn't be getting paid if this guy wasn't making stupid remarks, just saying

Feeling lost at the current moment but I hope I can enjoy this with my own friends and families in the future one day.
@7:28....Little that Wade and James know that cylinder 2 was going to be a bigger problem than they realized.
you know its a nugget when the tires are older than like 80% of the viewers
Thanks for the 🤭
i like how every episode you get a little bit more of a look at james till the point hes part of the channel
Like the Car Wizard on Hoovies channel. Begun as a shy background character - now he has his own channel and following!
HI JAMES
Rewatching this video now and seeing: "Things good: Cylinder Bores" Hurts me deeply💀
Not enough CZcamsrs have a wide enough content pool to maintain high output like yours. I'm loving everything you make being put into making more varied content, creating the loop we've been in for a while now. Keep it up mate.
this is gonna be bigger than strangerthings
Hey for the power steering thing, look into prius powersteering swap. Its 100% self contained and just needs a 12v power/ground/switch
The Prius power steering is seriously an underrated swap. I'm using it on my hybrid Corvair swap and probably everything after now.
This gotta be higher up
Toyota owns Daihatsu so it makes sense.
I just absolutely fucking adore this channel, I just recently bought a 2000 Dodge Dakota w/ a 4.7l V8 and watching you boys work on the nuggets gives me hope and strength to tackle my truck. Thank you for the awesome content bud!
Seeing you and James just have a great time talking about and fixing old cars is so wholesome. Would definitely love it if you made this a series. Keep up the good work.
10:36
"OHH NOOO"
(James maniacally laughes in the background)
I cannot express in words how excited I am for this build. This nugget is gunna fly!
4:37
Can't believe james made the portal 2 sound when you place a portal!
Watching these car videos takes me back to when I was younger as a teen and in the morning when I was hanging with my dad or out on weekend trips wed listen to a show from NPR called car talk and the energy and hilarity from that reminds me of this show as well thanks for making this dank.
And so another adventure begins. Loving this series and here's to hoping y'all can successfully finish this project to the status of "an car"!
I've got "An car" that I love working on from time to time.
And no joke, it was my saving grace last winter as it was the only car in the family that would reliably start, being a petrol car 'n all.
Never underestimate the importance of a worked on "An car".
Love your stuff and can't wait for more!
"I'm falling over" at 13:38 has similar energy to "i can't believe you've done this"
I think it could potentially be a cool cooperation between two worlds.
The car world and the art world.
I think it could be a cool "BMW Art Car" styled build, to continue its "whiteboard" legacy. Maybe you could call out to some aussie artists on CZcams and get some of them to paint the right side and leave the left side white. Or maybe you could just put clear coat on it to seal the current paint.
Its uniqueness is awesome
Personally I'm holding out for the clear coat, I think it's got mad character right now. Anticipating the day when we get a Hot Wheels version, though; they recently did a Jay Leno's Garage collection - logically the next step is a Dankpods' Garbage Time Garage collection.
@KAAN CAN I doubt they would, but Johnny Lighting might
I just want you to know, I got into dankpods because I’m an apple enthusiast and audio engineer. I got into garbage time because you’re the best CZcamsr out there. I don’t know or care the first thing about cars but I will absolutely be watching every video on all of your channels. Keep it up 🤘
10:53 "it was so funny until it wasn't" it always is.... it always is
James dying here💀
I love how this “An Car” has taken more than a year to finish
I'm really excited for this series! Genuinely love all your content. It's always a great end to night shift , to watch. It reminds me of the odd ( 6 monthly) meetup I have with my workmates lol.
If you are still struggling to find a head gasket or things like thermostat gaskets etc etc, you can buy sheets of gasket material and cut it to spec!
Can’t really state just how amazing it is that making entertaining vids about the obscure hobby of rebuilding and modding what most consider obsolete technology (iPods) has led to enhancing and documenting your other passions.
Seriously it’s so damn inspiring that a dude who started making Simpsons electronica remixes created a media empire with hundreds of hours of content that spans the niche subjects that he finds genuinely interesting.
I’m always looking forward to more content stemming from your interests that is done in the creative way that only you can do Wade.
As a student mechanic not only are you bloody soothing to listen to i love just looking at you two working on manky cars, please make it a series :))))
I don't know anything more about cars than what these videos show and I'm excited.
God, CZcams told me the video was uploaded 43 seconds ago. I think the algorithm really knows how much I love this guy
Knowing what we know now the "Things Good: Cylinder Bores" makes me just chuckle a super Villan watching the heros approach a trap.
its an car now after 7 months
I love seeing more content from you! Cars, drums, dank pods, anything you make is so entertaining. Keep the good work up man :)
I would love for you to do a clear coat overtop the paint to solidify the design.
I'd like to see if that absolute mess could be removed by cutting the paint back.
That Dino NEEDS to be T-shirt merch
@@ferrumignis nah they want to keep that mess. It has character.
10:19 And this, it turns out, was the thing that jinxed the whole project.
It was in fact not good
Im, no joke, starting to enjoy this channel more and more... 2 Aussies fixing cars for sum reason is just good entertainment for me ^^
This reminds me of being in my friends garage with one of our cars on the lift and just playing music, hanging out, having a couple bevvies and working on a car. Great times and lots of good laughs.
So glad I joined the Dank Patreon cause weekly audio nuggets and car nuggets is content that I'm totally here for.
This is genuinely so exciting to see, i’m not even into cars that much. But I’ve always seemed to gravitate towards the Niki nugget fix videos. I swear I’ve watched that series a total of 5 times. Always such a joy to watch y’all work
i like these faster uploads recently and your joyful laugh makes my day, love what you do mate
Strong oil pump and decent crank bearings judging by the squirt height.
hey dank, get an ozone generator and chuck it in jeff. it just might, maybe, fix the smell problems. maybe cleaning out the vents/cabin filter might help too
you can also run the air and have it in circulate with the ozone generator. real good at eating up smells (ozone stinks for a little bit, but fades quickly)
i absolutely love just how much fun you and james are having and hope the series and good times continue
Fark this brings back memories! My grandma had a red turbo charade like this when I was a kid, same wicked mags too. It had a real appetite for head gaskets, I learned a heap about working on cars watching my grandpa fix it up.
Would love to see you keep the current 'custom' paint job that's on it
Gives it more character
The dinosaur going "grrr grrr" made me smile.
I've little to no interest in cars at all but I love your videos, they're endlessly fascinating to watch your enthusiasm towards total nuggets.
I also just get flashbacks to my dad's old Citroen AX, the one that had a hole in the floor that you could see the road through, but still technically fit the definition of "an car"
That don't sound like something a forklift with feelings would say
I love how the whole time Wade is going "Noooo!", James is just laughing.
absolutely pissing himself
"Earwigs in the radiator" sounds like a problem you'd hear about on Black Books if Bernard could drive.
This is literally the most Australian thing ever 14:12
As an actual student who is doing mechanics I can confirm that transaxle manuals exist and how James is doing the work is how we all do it here out here in the west
Obviously transaxle manuals exist, you just looked at one in this video
I’m gonna absolutely love every installment of this series
James is literally just a human swiss army knife, I swear this man can fix anything
This is truly the best series on yt
This is hilarious. Looking forward to the series, it's gonna be great! Even if you don't get much done, I'm sure you will find ways to make a fun video anyway, you just have that knack of making something small super funny! Like the nugget dip, some people couldn't make an entertaining five second video of that, and yet, there you go making it such a hilarious thing every time.
It's amazing how much seeing someone love and enjoy what their doing can change how enjoyable it is to watch.
Dank is just the gift that keeps on giving.
We got goofy nugget content before, now we get goofy nugget content, drum content & now car guy content.
Amazing, simply marvellous.
James is a handsome lad :) im glad yall are doin some fun hobbies together
I am so excited to see where this goes! Even if it never reaches 'an car' status I am here for the ride.
I love these car videos. And now weekly? This is such a treat. Keep doing what you’re doing man
This is my first look at your channel, and I am glad I ended up here. This is SO fun to watch
This is real life “My Summer Car” love it.🤣
My summer car outback adventure
But can they drink beer upside down?
they should try it
Pretty normal for one brake shoe to wear unevenly on a single leading shoe drum setup. Notice the worn one is the leading shoe which does most of the braking effort since the rotation of the drum (when going fowards) tends to pull that shoe harder into contact, whereas the trailing shoe gets pushed away.
Weird seeing this in my recommended video. Actually had this model G11 Charade back in 2000-2005 during my Uni days.
Mine came with the weird Daimatic 2 speed auto. Was planning for an engine swap with a G11 Detomaso Turbo but then life happened.
Loved it, went on a few road trips in it. Tons of memories in that car.
Looking forward to seeing more of this. Great work guys.
Love from Malaysia.
Always loved your vids and now that I start studying mechanics, you start working on cars. This is awesome!
Please continue this series, it's so cosy. Also, now I want a Daihatsu
They're great cars, my mom used to have a 2008 daihatsu sirion 2 1.3l and that thing only broke down 3 times cuz the battery died and a couple of months ago the original alternator died. Had like 28000 km on it. We got rid of it a couple of weeks back cuz of bad steering rack and bad clutch
4:30 Here is the trick to loosen any wheel effortlessly, risk free and with no violence:
Just loosen the nuts just one turn, then drive slowly and serpentine a bit.
If they don't come lose right away, they have probably been welded on.
It's great having such a good CZcamsr who is relatable and also local. Great job, you are the best
Watching you work with an ol’ mate, helps me get to work on my old junk at home. You and Aging wheels are perfect for confidence building to be honest!
Love to see a day when small nuggets meet this gigantic nugget
Incredibly excited for this series
I know nothing about cars, but these videos have actually taught me a bit about them simply because it's entertaining. Love these videos
Honestly, these videos diving into cars help me to know what is good or bad when I look into my car. I know little to nul about cars, and haven't really been interested in learning, but I could watch your vids on cars all day.
Im so excited for this series !!!! Always down for more james content
The irony is amazing. Old roommate bought the car from a bearded guy in his mid 30's and it is now owned by another bearded guy in his mid 30's!
Love the wolf spider appearance at the end! Those little guys rule. Always welcome in my home
I love this 💓 series please keep posting .and I loved James moment most
Good luck Wade, looking forward it :D
Edit: the weekly vids i mean
Not the first, but glad to be awake at 2:06 to see this.
Nice to see another nugget getting the love it deserves. Best of luck to you all getting the hard to find bits!!
Makes me wish I took in my aunt’s mid 90’s Ford Festiva before she hauled it off to the junk yard.
This has always been my favorite thing to do with cars. Buy cheap. It was always my favorite challanges on Top Gear were the budget race cars. It was such a good idea that i now have a 1993 Pulsar that i got for $500. I brought that to school as it needed a new gear box which i was lucky and sourced a replacement really close by for about $300. Once that was swapped we went nuts and stripped the interior and put a fat sidepipe. It sounds way too good for a 1.6. This kinda stuff is the inspiration that drives that car, especially since it was named in my auto class "The Nugget".
