The Snake staff from Egyptian Magi is directly from the Biblical text Exodus 7:10-13. In an effort to convince the Pharaoh of Gods power, Moses and Arron‘ are told by God, Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’ They do this, but the Pharaoh is like 'so what' and he calls his magicians to do the same trick. However Moses snake eats all of their snakes, but the Pharaoh is not moved....so I he couldn't have one of the eaten staffs, but we can believe that this was a magic trick performed more that once.

The Egyptian Magi is a literary allusion to the Magicians in Exodus 7:22 who place their staffs on the ground where they turn into serpents.

The devil cannot take her arm because biblicly, the devil can do anything to God's people to test their faith, but he cannot touch them. that is why he lends his staff instead.

The staff could also represent the power the devil has over people, his bridge between the rules set upon him.
