I d like to add a point that you haven t mentioned may be . Nathaniel Hawthorne may hint that we don't need to know the dark side of every body . If you know what is in others minds you could never carry on your life normally just like Young Goodman did ,he just stopped living he was there but not realy livig

I hated this story. No disrespect to Mr. Hawthorne. Had such a hard time comprehending it. I absolutely hate to do literature analysis but I need to take them if I want to get a degree in writing.
i wholeheartedly disagree with 4:09. and i quote: "and how fair damsels-- blush not, sweet ones--have dug little graves in the garden, and bidden me, the sole guest, to an infant's funeral."
