I am a lover of literature. I think you performed a wonderful and quite comprehensive summary of Hawthorne's brilliant story. And I wish to thank you for contributing in the way that you have done so. I plan to subscribe to your channel. As to the story itself -- suffice to say it says so much about the human condition and how religion maintains such a hold on the masses, particularly those of Puritan persuasion.
Hello professor! I was wondering if you could assist me in interpreting a specific like from Hawthorne’s text, unfortunately you glossed right over it and I have not been able to find much about it but before 5:22 when he calls out for faith, the female voice, ( presumably faith right?) is “uttering lamentations” and entreats a favor that she would perhaps grieve to obtain... even with context clues I can’t quite understand what is being alluded to here.
