For the most tender and tasty Italian sausage: In a soup pot, low boil them for about an hour in water, a splash of red wine, onions, carrots, green pepper, fresh garlic, crushed red pepper and fresh sage leaves. Let sausage rest a bit, then lightly brown them up in real butter using a non-stick pan (the leftover beautiful pork broth can be used elsewhere).
