I'm not doubting the wonder of billy's hotdogs, but I think Gray's Papaya is a must try for tourists!! Their hotdogs and papaya juice are SO delicious and it's such an iconic spot! I haven't tried Billy's yet (though def plan to now) and it's def a different experience since it's in a classic food cart, but Gray's is also a must for an NYC hotdog experience.

Traveled to NY for 1st time last year and ate at both Sarges and Bleecker! Bar none,Sarges is THE BEST deli in NY by far, miles above Katzs, which is over-hyped. Take my word for it, The quality of food at Sarges is on another level, well well worth the trip! ( Although I had Dr.Brown's black cherry soda instead of cell ray) I enjoyed Bleecker street pizza as well, quality and a real NY pizza taste. Both are very good and I encourage everyone to go there if you're visiting. My only one regret was that Totono's was closed up! ( Toronto's is a long time pizzeria out by Coney Island, And may have the best pizza ever) Hopefully one day I'll get to try it!

Hi! I was in NYC last summer and went to the Frances Tauvern in Lower Manhattan: I think that place deserves a visit, not only for the food which is really good but also for the history that is attached to the place. Not only is it the oldest civil building in Manhattan, but it used to be visited by important personalities of the Revolutionary era like George Washington, who did his farewell speech to the army right there! It's definitely worth checking out if you are a history buff like me

I made the mistake of getting just one slice (I got another slice of something else) to go on my last night there and I took it to go. Out of everything I ate the 3 times I’ve been to New York that slice of pizza is still the thing I think about most 😂

My goodness this made me feel so nostalgic, left New York City seven months ago, my picks would be:
    Bagels: absolute
Hot dogs: none, New York does terrible hotdogs, at least a lot of them have those good papaya drinks though!
Deli: P.J. Bernstein on the upper east. Doesn’t have the best atmosphere, but does have the best meat.
Pizza: mamas too, right across the street from Absolut! Best pizza, and best variety in the city
Cheesecake: Fred’s near the natural history Museum. Completely surprised me, but it was the best I’ve ever had out there.
    Honorable mentions:
H&H on the upper east, which also really surprised me
    Second Avenue deli
    Don Antonio

I’ve never been to any of your spots in this video as I don’t go to the city often however I’m going to keep all of the ones in this video on my go list for the few times a year I do go to NYC. The biggest thing I miss at NY Delis is good rye bread that has a crispy crust, it seems most delis but the bread in a plastic bag which makes the crust soft and the taste is not the same. Where I live in Rockland county there aren’t and decent Jewish style delis I usually Ave a hour drive to Edison to Harold’s or Katz’s in Manhattan to find one I like. When I was a young boy I remember bagels were 4 cents and you only had 3 choices plain, poppy or sesame. Today the varieties are too many to mention here fortunately in my are we have a place called John’s that make one close to what I remember a bagel being.

I tried bleeker street pizza yesterday by accident. I was planning on going to Johns of bleeker street but the line was too long and ended up stumbling at Bleeker street pizza. It was so good

That's actually a fair point, the difference isn't huge. But still fun.

I am so SUPER HAPPY I found your channel today. And, have been binge watching. They are CRAZY FUN to watch and I am truly learning bout so many FAB places/spots to try when in the City. My mouth was watering mad watching them. Seriously!! Sad to say, I do not visit the City at all like I should, BUT, watching your channel has inspired me to get up, get over there and get to it. I am absolutely missing out. New subbie for sure!! Arlene

If you want a real dinner cheap: T-bone, Porter house, KC strips and BBQ you won't believe, forget about NY, come to Kansas City.

My father used to own the bakery that made the soft pretzels sold at the hot dog carts (and sport stadiums and the like) so I am biased.

I can buy Sabretts hot dogs in any of the stores near where I live. They really do taste better. My go to midnight treat, hot dog sauerkraut cooked 1 minute in the microwave, bun ready with deli mustard and a bit of pickle relish and my tummy is happy.

Thanks for your videos Jon. You really helped with my first ever visit to NYC in march 👍 basically planned the whole trip from your videos.
I love street food so i tried many of the foods you recommended. It was mostly quite good but nothing blew me away. The bagels were probably the best but the hot dogs were an abomination 😅🤢 Our favourite place to eat was probably little spain.
    Really appreciate your work ❤

Top 5 NYC Foods that are very EXPENSIVE.. BTW, Montreal has the best bagels(fairmount bagel & st-viateur bagel) Hot- dogs, pizza, smoked meat. Cheesecake? Its a dessert, shouldn't be considered as food. Capeesh!
