It’s real important to get permanent visible makers for your property. I own a rather odd shaped property and went in search of the far corner marker…. After 40 years it had disappeared out in the woods. It only took almost a year to find it. It now has a t-post with a pvc cover. Save yourself some future grief and mark those corners good!

When we first purchased our property there were logging roads. Access was easy but past history showed it had lots of visitors that did not clean up their mess. Once this was cleaned up we built an Adirondack Style Lean-to with the white pine that was all around us. It was a fun and relatively easy project once we figured out how to fit them together without a lot of gaps. It took a season of weekends to get it up and covered. You certainly have the materials to do something like that. Your beautiful property has the potential for lots of good times and a possibility of a selective harvest that could pay some bills. Good luck! Can't wait to see your progress.

I love walking properties like that and finding the old fence rows and rock piles and seeing new forest growth versus old to see what used to be open fields or pasture and imagining how the land was used in the past. Great video. Also.... love the idea of not putting a camp in the middle of the ground. That just leaves more ground for the deer to be undisturbed for hunting. I know deer live anywhere but I would think the more ground you have further from camp, the better as far as not chasing deer off the property as you come and go into camp.

Just a thought, before you sell your old mill, you should consider moving it to your land, mill out the lumber you want for your cabin, then sell it. Also, being 140 miles to the property, take your mini ex down one weekend, clear your driveway, put in the culvert, take down your skid steer next time. But first, find yourself a small camper so you can stay for a night or two to get set up. You can always sell it after you’re done building. That allows you to stay a few nights to get more done. You’re a busy man and LUV your projects. Keep it up buddy. Well done.

Thinking 10 or more years down the road ...... You might consider picking a more difficult access point into your property, and ideally it would pass through a wet area. Should marauders elect to access your property it would more than likely be at night. A more challenging access path would make both their access, as well as their exit much more challenging. You and your family would know it like the back of your hand. WV does have an undesirable element that you don't want near your, your family, or your property. No one can make their property bullet proof, but they can make it mighty difficult to access; up to the point that they elect to not attempt to access it. All the best.

When looking at the pines in your new Morgan Camp, I get the feeling that they were planted. They seem to be in straight lines. Whatever the case, it's a pretty spot.

Mike, When I purchased my five acres in Winston, GA there was a similar rock pile on the property. Interesting thinking about who cleaned them out of the field and the work involved.
I'm now using some of the rocks for landscape beds etc. -- love the channel and following the all of the Morgans.

When you have time there's a couple little towns, Davis, WV, and Thomas, WV, a 45 minute drive from Terra Alta, WV you should visit. Blackwater Falls State Park is beautiful! For food there's Sirianni's Café which has wonderful food!

Mike, we feel your pain. Our farm is 1 hour from our house, and turns a 8 hour workday into a 10 hour day with the drive. Lots of miles on our vehicles and of course, the $$ in gas. We grossly underestimated how much effort it requires to not only work our land ourselves, but to coordinate with contractors to get work done.

I have the same truck/engine combo. I’ve been averaging 20.7mpg which isn’t bad for a pickup. Really happy for you on getting the new property. Once you get the drive and turnaround in, perhaps you can do a drone shot and red line the property boundaries so we have a sense of what you are doing and where as you move ahead. Happy for you all!

Beautiful new property. I love all the beautiful trees. I've always wondered how owners of hundreds of acres prevent people from trespassing such as hunters and whatever else people may want to do perhaps even cut firewood that is so tempting. I don't see how owners can keep an eye on every acre. I can only think of no trespassing signs and fencing, but fencing would be very expensive. Although here where I live in northern Illinois, I have seen a property out in the country close to Rockford, IL, that has a 3 rail ranch black fence that runs 3-5 miles along the highway, and then it goes around the perimeter of the flat land. I can only imagine that was an expensive project. The miles of fence look so nice as it surrounds so much property because quite a bit is flat and hilly grassland. Thanks for sharing nature's beauty.

Mike, mark your property with rebar or PVC pipes if possible or something else that won't rot or be eaten by termites. Love the property. Maybe the power company can put you a pole and meter for that future camper. Have a productive day.

Mike thanks for sharing your video with us. That property "CAMP MORGAN" sure makes you appreciate what we have in America. It is ridiculous how much it costs to fill your tank politicians need to start caring more for Americans. Anhauser-Busch hasn't had any stoppage in producing beer but you can't get baby formula??? The cynical would say it is a backdoor way of the Government trying to control the population. No baby food so the babies die of starvation and copious amounts of beer to render most males too pi55ed to do the wicked deed and produce more children.
