If you want to show Desktop Icons on Windows 11, go to Start - Settings - Personalization - Themes. Scroll down a bit, and click on “Desktop icon settings".

I've never noticed the show/hide desktop icon menu just down to view, i was repeatedly personalizing it via themes, and failed. That did not work for me. However, I found that instead of clicking on "Personalize," click on the first option at the top of the menu, "View." At the bottom of the sub-menu for "View," is the option, "Show all icons." Somehow, it had been unchecked. I rechecked it and all my icons came back.

i have a suggestion for the next windows ... we should be able to right click on any desktop icon and pin it to where ever on the screen we want it to remain permanently , that way if a refresh is done , all the icons wont bundle up all together .. those 2 or however many will remain pinned in place
