    I just built one of these, and happen to have the same motor! Definitely going to try it, and it will be much lighter, but I was pretty impressed about a 10minutes flight with all the extra stuff. I don't believe TPU or any of those filaments are even that heavy anyways.

    Nice build. Looks great! Reminds me of a plane I had in 1977. Flight Test makes some nice stuff to get folks into the hobby.

      They might be encountering some quality control issues with the boards they send out. My FC board I got from them was wired backwards, yet the gyro was wired correctly, resulting in a plane that can’t turn.
      I tried to work with them, but they wanted me to document the issue in a way they were unwilling to do with their directions.
      In the end, my beginner project was a total wash and it will be just used as spare parts. I was warned that flight test was not economical, but I had no idea it would be that bad.

      Sorry to hear that. I've only downloaded their free plans and learned the hard way without a FC, which results in many crashes as you can imagine. Don't give up on flying. @@user-otzlixr

    Nice adding the little touches, it personalizes your plane. I remember many years ago on my Kadet Senior i took some 5" wheels wide tires from an off road truck and found some wheels that fit inside the rim. Five inch tires allowed my plane to roll over goffer holes.

    Yep, the FT Storch was a great slow flying trainer for me too. Low durability made mine short lived. An old school balsa and maybe a foam wing would temp me. A cheaper FunCub kit needs to be.

    12:03 I noticed the ends of the wings(after black tape) are missing material on the bottom. What is it called and what's the reason to make ends different from the rest of the wing?

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector  Před 18 dny +1

      I'm not totally sure, but this is how FliteTest designed it in their plans. The under camber helps reduce stalling at low speeds. Also an easy spot to install the aileron servos.

    I do not have a 3D printer. How much would you charge to ship me the items you 3d printed? I am in Los Angeles, CA.

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi, I appreciate you asking. But it would take quite a few hours in labor to setup the prints and ship, and at least 20+ hours of printing time. I've never calculated my costs for something like this but it wouldn't be cheap enough to be worth it for you. I also don't have the right filament on hand.
