      @@egtreadway4232 I suppose that is part of the thrill when you get your craft back in one piece. Check elevation graphs in the mission planner and always be sure to set your RTH settings correctly if you do end up going behind a ridge and triggering failsafe. Good luck!

    12:03 I noticed the ends of the wings(after black tape) are missing material on the bottom. What is it called and what's the reason to make ends different from the rest of the wing?

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před měsícem

      I'm not totally sure, but this is how FliteTest designed it in their plans. The under camber helps reduce stalling at low speeds. Also an easy spot to install the aileron servos.

    The fins on the back side of the fuse might be counter productive being so far forward. If there ahead of the aero center then they'll decrease yaw stability

    I love your video bro. It's nice, you narrate the flight, you've got all the camera angels, Tx view, way point view, Etc. When are you going to go digital tho ? Good job and thank you...... One big question tho - i have the same antenna on the Tx, why are you NOT running it verticle ? Are you not running the antenna on the platform in a vertical position ? (EDIT) I see you have platform antenna in a horizontal position also... I've always had much better range with vertically placed antennas..

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks man! I just can't afford moving into digital at the moment, one day I'll get into it and I can't wait to try. I built another Spear and mounted the antenna vertically (look at my other vids). Although I've never had issues, even 3-4 miles out in horizontal config, I do get less telemetry drops in vertical. All my quads have horizontal Crossfire antennas and when I built this wing I just went that way since I've never had issues with range. But yea, vertical now for my wing builds.

    Hei! Can you tell me why you build winglets with lw-pla (how much infill and how many top/bottom layers and perimeters did you use) and not with foamboard? And with what you glue the winglets to the wing? Sorry for that many questions. Thanks for STLs and video!!!

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 3 měsíci

      The lw-pla is tougher than the single foam winglets. I was getting creases and bends in the foam on my 1st spear with rough landings. 2 top/bottom layers, 15-20% infill and I believe 3 perimeters or 2. Hot glued the winglets (I punched tiny holes in the side of the prints so the glue had something to adhere to).

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you! I painted the plane in my garage on a warm summer day. Start off with a very light coat so the paper doesn't soak up too much paint and bubble/warp. Wait about 5-10 min between coats. Keep adding light layers/coats of paint until the full color looks nice. I used Rust-o-leum 2x paint/primer all in one. The black and white sections are vinyl tape I bought from Amazon. The windows are silver vinyl tape from Hobby Lobby. Hope this helps. Always start with ultra light sprays and build up slowly! Use tape for smaller details.

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 6 měsíci

      Autolaunch will time-out and switch to whatever mode your switch is on. In the modes tab you can assign a switch to things like angle, manual and acro. I have a switch for this and use that to bounce around those modes. You could also set a switch for loiter or RTH if you feel like you might crash. But angle might be better for a saving moment so you can still have control if there are trees or obstacles around. Look up INAV modes on CZcams, you will find plenty of videos.

    Hi Did you fly it again with the crossfligt FC? I made grat experiences with RadioLink Minipix V1.0 and V1.2 but struggeld with my last MiniPix 1.2 and Crossflight FC form Ali. So, after spending the whole Weekend with less succesess becaus of malfunction of the FC`s, I decided to go in for Speedybee. How ever- I allways started with the non GPS-based flightmodes like FBWA, STAB and MANUAL. The Idea is to trimm an set FBWA by toggle FBWA/MANUAL to fly straight. Next was LOYTER to check the GPS-based flight assistance modes, finally testing RTL. On the end on your Video it looks like as your FC has a compass issu? I also have had some issues with calibrating compass with Adrupilot >4.1 ( Mini1.0/1.2) V 3.8.5 works well but unfortunately not with Crossflight. Thanks for sharing your Video! Great design! Which 3D print material did you use for the 3D print parts?

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks! I used lightweight PLA (Polymaker) for the winglets and vertical fins. Regular PLA (Sunlu) for all the other parts.

    How did you put the design on the plane?

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 7 měsíci

      The orange sections are vinyl tape from Amazon. The black accents are 3d printed shapes (2 layers thick) I modeled in Blender. These were CA glued on.

    Nice adding the little touches, it personalizes your plane. I remember many years ago on my Kadet Senior i took some 5" wheels wide tires from an off road truck and found some wheels that fit inside the rim. Five inch tires allowed my plane to roll over goffer holes.

    Hello there. You did good flying! nice, I want to make a plane like yours. I have the same radio you have and have the other stuff too. I just have to buy form bound. I can not read and write good. Put i will do my best. I do not know any thing about my NEW RADIO at all. never set any thing up on it. I have new motors new every thing. I just do not know how to set up every thing. may be you can help me out?? thanks. I gave you a feed back. I am at 444 thump up for you as well. have a nice week end. :)) thanks

      Thanks for watching. The Flitetest Spear is a fun wing to fly. Here are the free plans and build video on how to make this delta wing. It takes a lot of commitment and time, good luck! www.flitetest.com/articles/ft-spear-build

    Nice build, do you have the brake setup?

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks! I don't have braking setup for this ESC. The prop always strikes the ground at some point. This is fairly normal and I've never had a prop snap on landing.

      Thanks for watching. I decided to make a video showing the craft in action due to the abundance of 'how-to' resources I found. I highly recommend these two channels which taught me all the technical aspects of INAV. www.youtube.com/@Painless360 www.youtube.com/@MrD

    Ciao, aumentando il reflex deve volare da solo come su binari ! Anche le winglets vanno maggiorate ottieni più stabilità 😁

    Sorry to ask. But How did you get the waypoints in?? I thought you needed Inav. If os how did you install??

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 8 měsíci

      No worries. These waypoints (landmarks) were plotted out prior to the flight in Google maps so my spotter and I had a defined flight plan to follow. We also printed out the map beforehand. It wasn't a mission in the flight controller. I then attempted to fly the exact mission plan we prepared by memory and landmarks. Think of it as me showing the manual flight plan with waypoints prepared for this flight and location. Thanks for watching!

    You might think about putting the slats on. They work as advertised. It’s lovely to see full-scale planes sharing space with models. You have a very cool flying site.

    • @LiftVector
      @LiftVector Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks for watching! I still have them stored away in the box. I've tried the floats and it was a lot of fun. I'll have to watch a video about how the plane performs with the slats. Most pilots seem to fly without them, I've noticed.
