- Drywall is one of those trades where you either got it or you don't. We get a lot of calls to fix other contractors work because they just can't get what they want. On this project, that was the case. The texture was inconsistent, tape seams not finished out level, and you can see the patches.
We skimmed all the walls and ceiling to a smooth finish with a 24" Tomahawk skim blade. Textured it with a whitewash, which is a very soupy orange peel shot with high air pressure. Once it drys it lays down.
Hope you enjoy.

What a beauty! Love the finished perfect smooth ceilings!
Thank you.
Looks the the Columbia skimming blades are def worth the money, I just did a huge ceiling with a 12" knife and man it took so long lol
The Columbia blade is life changing for the drywall world. I use it for everything that I need to skim. Butt joint especially. Worth the money.
Great video! & great results!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed
It'd be great if you explained what you are doing and listed the tools that are being used.
Hi What texture did you spray on after skim coating everything walls?ceilings?? I love level 5 smooth walls/ceilings unfortunately every single ding scratch blemush etc from wear/tear with kids/pets becomes very visible very quickly 😢.
Why did you have to prime it with oil based primer first before putting on the 3 coats of mud?
Seals it up so everything sticks and the old drywall doesn’t yellow
Nice work, but you should have pulled that range out to get behind it. If they ever replace it with a low back range, they will have an empty spot ion the texturing with the ugly, unfixed drywall.
Thank you. I told them that but they are eventually putting a backsplash up so it didn’t matter
what size is that blade 40" or 32"?
24 inch. If you use anyway bigger it does work as well on the ceiling.
