From the lore, I assume, Ekko doesn't dare to try and convince his parents. Even with the z-drive. He doesn't want to see them hurt, not for a second, even if it's a second he can take back.
That makes his character better, even with the power to convince them, he still doesn't knowing the pain he'll bring to them if he did.
Like Ekko did in the end, as he rewinded time, I rewinded the time like him, watching over and over the end of the story, that was so sad and beautiful at the same time :'(
How come these hextech crystals are so common in lore but so hard to get in the actual game

That was a really relatable, somewhat sad story. About a kid who wants to tell his parents that he has plans other than what they dream of for him but just can't bear to break it to them with how much effort they've put into trying to give him the opportunities that they couldn't have themselves.

The thing i find really intresting is that Warwick has a special interaction with ekko, saying:"rewind too far, and you'll end back in my teeth" implying ekko came into contact or fough warwick.
I found it strange that Victor was the one that wanted Ekko as an apprentice and Jayce was the one that basically wanted to steal his design. I would've guessed it was the other way around.
Viktor lore wise is just a better person in Jayce when it comes to canon he has this one story where he helps a kid deal with his bullies its pretty good. Jayce is an asshole though just straight up a dick

I lile Zawn so much more now. Its champions are so relatable and charming. As a personal note; I like how Vik send an... "invitation" for Ekko, as he sees him for his genius while Jayce only wants his creation. So subtle yet so revealing of the two rivals.

Wow, Riot outdid themselves with this one.
Even thought Ekko is an asshole in game with his abilities and reset button, this lore story makes me feel for him.
Yeah Arcane has definitely reworked ekko into a much better character. His backstory was not retconned but improved. His parents are sustituted by Benzo (that might be the biggest difference), the Firelights are a better version of The children of Zaun, more violent and robin hood like gang instead of just scrapers, he is not just one of them but the leader and the story of how he learns about the hexcrystal changed with all the vi, caitlyn and jhinx story arc. Him being a genius with inventions and little details like the mural of faces, etc... still remains which is cool. Now, the stories of how he created the time machine, how he prevented some of his friends death and the race between viktor and jayce to get the time mahcine could still happen. It might be a reach but in a future season of Arcane one of the plots could be that race between viktor and jayce to catch ekko. They didnt interact with him in season one and it would really make a lot of sense both trying to get that technology maybe to save someone? Viktor could want it to save Sky and Jayce could try to save Mel if she dies due to Jinx explosion, or to destroy the hexcore or just to weaponize it.

Just because we didn't see his parents doesn't mean they don't exist, and it's still completely possible for Ekko to get his hands on a hexcrystal to craft his Z drive
