Watching his CZcams vods (especially his lane phases) have made me much better at looking for solo kill angles, because I usually associate Ekko as a scaling champion that wants to farm most of the time. Amazing video as always.

at 7:58 he doesn't hide the animation (you can see that the enemies avoid it just fine). The trick he's actually using is the knowledge that for about 0.1 seconds after the animation seems to have finished (it looks faded) you can actually step into it and still trigger it. You can see that they assume the animation is done and it's safe to walk in but in actuality the trigger window for ekko W is still open. XLB realizes this and walks in to get the free stun on the enemies who lack knowledge of this interaction (or were focused on something else). Great video!

@@StoneDeceiverHe does partially cancel the animation but he still has a few frames of the W animation. You can cast W while being in the E rolling animation which is a full animation cancel (if memory serves right) but even this would have little impact on him actually getting the stun here. If you are in vision your “shadow’s” windup animation is visible anyway which usually matters more than animation cancelling. You can see that when it lands both ivern and tristana are not in the W but walks back in when the animation seems finished. So XLB’s superior knowledge of his W is what actually gets him the stun here; Not his partial animation cancel
@@alien3355 this is true, and mainly with true damage ekko as well. other skins have different timings, but true damage is the most egregious when it comes to the animation ending faster than the actual ability.

He left because of lich bane nerfs, XLB only appears when ekko is extremely strong, then after the nerfs he disappears. He's been doing the same since the last two seasons. He appears for the preseason (times when ekko is in general OP) and then after the preseason balance he vanishes

A video suggestion idea: There's a 1500 LP EUW Challenger player with the in-game name 失敗者 #ZOYP who recently reached rank 1 on EUW ladder playing AP Assassin Galio with a 73% win rate on the champion over 150+ games.
He gets Dark Seal+Boots on 1st recall into Sorcs Shoes-Lichbane-Shadowflame-Deathcap every game. He also runs Aftershock and Flash Ghost.
That build is cracked on galio , once you get lich bane + sorc shoes , you just roam around the map oneshoting people and winning your team the game

Crazy how I have ironically been running this type of setup for years now on ekko it just feels so good to have that attack speed and people don’t respect how quickly you can get your passive with just autos

Another thing I've realized after playing some Ekko games using XLB's technique is: using True Damage skin makes ur play more smooth. That's why XLB uses that skin on every accounts of his.

Ekko is a great champ, but its easy to die, especially if you mess up e and get smacked. Not a good chanp when behind. But super fun, i got a penta on him once

im an otp ekko and the counter arrent really right, u have LB, akshan and akali. Yasuo is skill match up and galio can't kill u in lane
Galio is ekko's counter because ekko can't kill him and Galio can massively push lane and then roaming to 2 sides , ekko if cannot get kills , he so useless

I've been using ekko this way since many years ago, it feels much better than the rocketbelt ekko build.

@@Smolder1 Your damage are directly linked to your stacking. If you don’t stack efficiently in lane by poking other champions in lane (W can be proc on supp+adc −> +2 stacks) your champion will feel weak.
If you do poke efficiently (every single of your spells stacks like a veigar), at 225 stacks you are WAY WAY WAY more powerful than any other adc in the game. You basically have a mini-elder drake buff on all of your kit (the burn, the execute and everything).
So no, smalder is just good in good hands and bad in bad hands. Learn from the best players, improve and become number one if that’s your goal. But he is anything but weak at the moment.
Oh and in lane, start W, max Q and use W early to push the wave, poke your opponent and stack ALL at the same time.
For the runes, play the comet setup, it’s way stronger (even if you go AD) than the PTA one.

She got outplayed, she has no E left, can't walk fast enough to her dagger and has no flash left.
The difference between this challenger korean katarina and you, is that she knows all that and take the death, where you would have run trying, but died without any other difference.
They truely know their champion limit while you *think* you know them.

Well let’s get into the details as you insist without any arguments, let me give you some to prove my point. (These players are way better than us, they are on the best server of the world and challenger there + mostly OTP they know each others champions perfectly).
- Katarina base MS is 335, Ekko base MS is 340 ; Δ = 5 Move Speed.
- Both have the same MS runes (+5MS with relentless hunter)
- Both have same T1 shoes (+20MS)
- Ekko has Lich bane −> +8%MS
Total : (base + runes + items including boots)
Ekko MS = 395 MS ; Kata MS = 360 MS. Δ=35 MS (huge). It’s more than T1 vs T2 boots diff (25).
They are lvl 7 so katarina W that gives her MS is only rank 1 (she skills the 2nd point on it lvl 14) and is currently on CD (15s CD at rank 1, she uses it at 8:22 so she don’t have it at 8:32 when she would need it).
Her E is on cooldown as she just used it on Ekko and is rank 2 [12.5s CD]. Catching a dagger lvl 7 gives 84% CD reduction on the remaining time (not 100%). Which means even if the dagger would have felt ON HER, she needs around 1.5 to 2s to be able to use E again.
But the dagger isn’t even on her, she needs to walk 120-130 units of terrain (so at least 0.4s assuming her current move speed and assuming 0 reaction time to the flash) to catch it.
Meanwhile Ekko is barely at the right distance to shumpo (I’m unsure at 8:31 but at 8:32 he clearly is too far for a shumpo).
So that’s 3 explicit reasons why there is absolutely no hope for kata to kill that Ekko at that moment and she knows it. So she accept the fact she got outplayed and dies here pressing S as respect.

Am I the only one who dislikes Absolute Focus as an a literaly an a Rune for KDA Perfectionists? this rune doesnt really appeal much to my liking especialy since the Transcendence is better over all and the Celerity is good for so many characters providing more mobility while AF is just bonus stats if u are on high HP
You don't get to oneshotq at level 7 with dring darkseal 2 amp tomes without it, that's the whole point of going it

ekko ult heals you and then deals damage. Absolute focus always boost ult damage
