Why are the scary looking supports usually in Bilgewater?
Edgy_Weeb26 cause bilgewater is one of the darkest places in runeterra, along with the shadow isles
The only scary Bilgewater characters in appearance are Tahm Kench, Pyke, and Nautilus to an extent because of how huge he is. The Void and the Shadow Isles definitely have a lot more scary-looking champions than Bilgewater, and even Zaun gives it a run for its money.

Tahm Kench's theme music doesn't have the kind of excitement that lots of other themes have, but it's still _easily_ one of my favorites out of them all. Tahm was never my fave in-game, but everything about his themes is so damn well made imo
Tahm Kench's video, it makes me think that the bride was his target. Old Tahm had made a deal with the bride, for what I don't know, but no longer had access to her for some reason [MAGIC!], so he made a deal with the gambler, who fell in love with his bride to be. In collecting on the gambler's bargain, he also collected on the bride's. "Please! Not now! Not this time!" was what the bride said, not the gambler. She wasn't horrified because a monster was rampaging in her home, she almost seemed to expect it. "Not THIS TIME."
Maybe she wanted a man who was bold, brash, exciting...like a gambler. Maybe she wasn't really a princess.

There is no way someone escapes Tahm Kench. Even if you somehow make a deal and after that dissapear he can just go back in time.
Your theory is very interesting, i think bride made a deal and when she has found her happiness Tahm came to take it from her.
You know what, Kench strikes me as too classy a devil to involve random people in his schemes, it’s not as interesting to him. Plus, what’s better than collecting two debts at once?
I got it thanks to a fellow in the comments section of Tahm Kench's official teaser video. So basically Tahm Kench is a metaphor for greed.
A gambler lost everything and had a chance to walk away, but greed showed up again and swallowed him up. Greed has a hunger only "men like him" could satisfy. Eventually he found love and married a "princess." This means his wife must be wealthy. The narrator says, "When that hungry beast finally did arise" he gambled away his wife's money. The family screamed and fought. The wife begged him to stop but he couldn't, so he lost the house, the gold, and his wife to "Tahm Kench" or greed.
I think Tahm is the manifestation of the gambler, the bride pleads with Tahm and Tahm responds which sounds like the response of a addict, 'it ate the gifts, the house and the gold'. "This hungers a burden... it's the last time I swear(gambling addiction) "so please forgive" all addicts use blackmail/sympathy to justify their habits
Tahm Kench's music is beautiful and spooky, and his voice practically says: I'm such a nice and polite guy, how about you come a little closer? Listening to them both always sends shivers up my spine.

There is a loading screen tooltip saying how the inventor of the "Runeterra Incognium" mysteriously died before being able to reveal its power source. Could it be the lady that got eaten by Kench in this video? Or do we already know who that inventor was?
zjiel dble I thought that too, but in "Progress Day" the inventor of the "Runeterra Incognium" was confirmed to be a man named Zindelo. Lil sad that Riot didn't made it as an easter egg.

Simpletons who do not know you do not 1v1 a Tahm Kench on Melee range, and that his Damage scales based on his HP...
I love that even when his is the weakest champion in the game, he can still destroy In top lane because people are dumb and get CatFished.

I'm not a lore God, so I really don't know much about it, but wouldn't it be cool if tahm kench actually gave pyke his "immortality?" Like tahm kench obviously likes to prey on people, including the rich, so when pyke got betrayed, he saw the opportunity for pyke to basically hunt down the people and he could gluttonize on them.
I hope that Kench is like a dark merchant in the new bilgewater game.

He is a demon. The demon of greed. Similiar to Nocturne the demon of fear and Evelyn the demon of lust.

Evelynn is the demon of agony, not lust. There are stories where lust wasnt even present at all, she simply tries to make people as much as she could.

im not entirely sure tahm kench is a demon, i just think he's a really strong, really fast and really smart river monster
Tahm Kench is a demon. Evelynn is a similar kind of demon. They both need some sort of "contract", before they can feed on the prey's misery. Tahm Kench feeds on emotions and needs the victim to agree on a deal. Evelynn feeds on physical pain.
As soon as Tahm Kench got a deal with his victim, he gets all the power he needs to fullfill the deal on his part.
@@carrioncrow2547 yeah, the other difference is that Tahm's method is to play the long game allowing for his next meal to be at the peak of their happiness before he "Comes to collect" so to speak where as Evelynn is more of the immediate, I want you now.
The demons all seem to feed on emotion, Fiddlesticks on fear, Nocturne on Nightmares which are just a derivative of fear, Tahm on desire and misery and Evelynn on sexuality which is just a derivative of desire but positive so maybe there are lower tier demons. Raum is weird thought, does he feed on the desire for knowledge/secrets?

I feel like this character was kind of a wasted opportunity. He's a cool concept that could be legitimately sinister if they didn't animate him in a cartoonish silly waddle and make all his in game voice lines about I FAT I EAT FOOD and downplay the original "Faustian deciever" archetype his introduction story built him up as.
