I also think it's really cool Alune tells Aphelios when he has low HP since he can't feel pain. Really sad stuff, amazing character development

Yeah, she said "book" and not a book so she meant yuumi's book that yuumi herself just calls book.
The fact that book allowed someone other than Yuumi and their master (or keeper of the book, or whatever you want to call that yordle) check its content is interesting enough. And she implies it was not a single visit.

Yeah that's right, I checked the french voice, and she says ''Grimoire'' (The fr's name of Book) instead of the regular word for book.
I wish they had interractions with Shen, who could actually interract with both of them in the lore
Oh yeah I didn't think of that. Granted, Shen is like very devoted to his task so I highly doubt he would care enough to show up for simply a talk. He might randomly run into Aphelios and sense Alune from him. But since Alune's fortress seems quite safe and she has her own magic Shen would never need to go there to deal with any spirits.
@@Sekaro297 I never said Shen would go to either of them for a chat. I said that he *could* interract with both of them, since as the Eye of Twilight he can roam the human and the spirit world. I would imagine that Alune would have something to say about him of some short

I feel like the reason why the line "The Solari Do not see. We shine brightest with another's light" also has to do with the fact that the moon reflects the sun's light. Without the sun, the moon would not be able to shine, without the moon, the sun can only reach to targon when it's daytime there. So basically, the reason why the solari have to work with the lunari is because they need each other to get rid of darkness. It's not just the sun, and secretly the moon is dependent on the sun
Tying Rogue ooooh that’s an interesting point, I remember reading somewhere in lore that Lunari worshipped the sun and moon together and hence the symbol on Diana’s forehead. And Solari rejects the moon
Light needs Dark and Dark needs Light to maintain balance in the universe, otherwise reality itself ceases to exist.

6:15, Ummm, my boi, Diana murdered almost all the Elders from the Solari Temple... that's what she has done, the Solari are hunting her because of that, not just for being a Lunari xDDD
Edit: The Great Darkness is something that has appeared in other stories, and I think I know why the Lunari are necessary to stop it. First it's the color story of Diana, where she closes a portal in some ruins (maybe from the Void). Then we have the stuff of the Marai, who use a Moonstone to close a Void portal. Another clue is the darkin storyline, where the power of the Moon was used to trap them.
I think that the main power of the Moon is sealing/banishing magic, and if an invasion happens, Targon will need that power to close the portals.

@@Necrit she was fleeing for what she done (kill the elders) not from the Solaris. Aaaand in the story of Leona is implicit that the things that the Sun said (even if it wasn't the same as the moon) complement what Diana knows and the other way around (it doesn't have sense that Leona cant talk with anyone but Diana about the things that she had seen)

Aphelios is literally just Master Chief, they both barely ever talk and both have a 2nd person in them that talks to them and helps them out. They also have a huge arrangement of weapons at their disposal. Prove me wrong

"Diana knows the Moon's name." I think that just means she knows the name of the Aspect of the Moon. So far, the only Aspect we know the name of is Pantheon, the Aspect of War. The Protector and the Trickster seem more like alternative titles for the Aspects that Taric and Zoe have. The Aspects of Justice, Sun, and Moon have yet to be given anything resembling a proper name. I feel like what this is meant to signify is that the actual names of the Aspects are meant to be kept secret, but their vessels may inherently gain that knowledge upon being chosen.

When I hear them talk about "the darkness" I think about the literal realm called "the darkness" that nocturn currently resides in. Cause if you remember: the darkness is basically the mockery of the spirit realm and mortal realm. I feel like this is alluding to another champion or a nocturne rework far off into the future that wants the dark realm to rule over all realms.
That sounds like Dark Souls and I love it
They mean the realm of the void which is the fabric of nothingness. The sun and the moon combined are the two things, that are possible strong enough to stop it from consuming everything.

@@blackblaze4830 i'm not gonna lie, even invoker is arguably simpler than aphelios. Invoker can form two abilities at a time with his elements, but aphelios' abilities change depending on which weapon is equipped as well as which weapon is on his back
Invoker always have access to all of his abilities while Aphelios has to wait for his guns to run out of ammo
@@markvigo1747 And that's why Injoker is arguably a tad bit easier to use than Aphelios, arguably since Invo can access his whole arsenals at any times while Phel only 2 of his gun at once.
@@markvigo1747 You can manually unload the guns ammo so that you can switch it up but it gets confusing because they have a specific sequence most of the time.
I just find it interesting that they're named ApHELIOS and ALUNE
Helios referring to the Sun and Lune meaning Moon/Lunar, but despite that, they're both lunari.
I did too, I was actually upset about it at first. Then I remembered aphelion is the word for something at the furthest point from the sun in it's orbit, so it checks out
Based on the way Alune talks to Aphelios in game and in the release lore, I wouldn't be surprised if his name referring to Sun meant something deeper. She seems to always be trying to convince him he's doing the right thing and on the right side. It probably means nothing in the long but but you know what, it's interesting to think about
Aphelios comes from the Greek word Αφήλιο which stands for the period of when the earth is at its farthest point from the Sun at summer. So Aphelios name literally means "away from the sun" or "far from the sun". I'm Greek and when I saw the name of this champion I thought he was Greek or something.

I think the 'fleeing, what have you done' interaction to Diana was meta-wise using the Solari Elder Massacre as a red herring in order to actually reference whatever had happened on Ionia that Diana was apparently returning from.
Lots of recent things seem to be shifting a larger-scale lens onto Ionia, like the Awakened m/v for one example.

What if a solar or lunar eclipse happens? That the darkness that Aphelios's Sister mentions is a cataclysmic event that will block out the sun and turn the Solari Powerless. And maybe a void rift might open in this event?
Watching this after the ruination event(presumably the great darkness fortold) just makes me wish more champs, especially Aphelios and Leona, were somehow involved or at least affected. Obviously they couldn't all be sentinels, but it would have been nice to see them doing something.
I think the "darkness" Alune is talking about isn't the Void because the Void is always represented as the "silence". Even Aatrox said that. Maybe the darkness is actually related to the place where Nocturne dwells or the false realm that Karma was talking about, the Shadow Realm. Anyway, I think this is an entirely new, different calamity.
The "darkness" Alune is referring to (12:34) is probably something Void/Shadow Isles related. It seems like Alune knows a bigger enemy than the Solari is coming

I think that it could have something to do with Morgana. She is the Justice engulfed in shadow. Morgana could be seeing a rise in her power sometime in the lore?

Diana actually slaughtered a bunch of solari after she became the aspect. It’s in Leonas lore. They both climbed mount targon and became the aspects and ended up fighting each other. Diana had her weapon to leonas throat but then fled. When Leona went back home her people were slaughtered by Diana. So I’m assuming that’s why she fled to Ionia.
Watching this in retrospect after Viego's rampage and the ruination, this greater darkness is quite an interesting topic.
The first interaction (the second part) means that his sister reads THE book, like the book that yuumi is on top of, that's why there is no "a" in the sentence

The Lore has always been what I love about League even way back when I started playing around S4 and it's nice to see them expanding on it even more today.
It's also the reason why I'll always choose League over Dota/Dota2.

The Darkness they are probably talking about is either the Void or the Mist. Although the Void would probably be closer ever since we got the Legends of Runeterra about the Frozen Watchers in the Avarosan lore.
in a lot of fantasy the "true name" of things carries great power. I reckon that's what the line about the moons name is about

It's a stretch but could the darkness that Alune mentions when not in direct reference to the Lunari hiding, but the threat that the aspects know of actually be referencing a rising of the demons, not the Void? Nocturne has several voice lines mentioning darkness in general and it's a big chunk of his powers/character. While I don't know that he could do much by himself, surely the 10, if all present at the same time, could wreak havoc. (Again, I think it's a big stretch and Riot seems pretty attached to the Void spread being a major threat.)
