      Kayleen Babel I stretch my spilt a lot! So my leap is very high!

      HEY KATHLEEN. My split leaps have straight front legs but often my back legs are a little bent at the knee. Could you offer tips to help this? I would like specific tips, because this only happens with my back leg

    I’ve been dancing for about 4 years and I’ve made a lot of progress for only dancing for 4 years but I’m struggling with my leaps a lot I’ve been taking your advice and I’m doing what your doing and I’m seeing progress which is crazy because leaps have always been a struggle for me

      i have been dancing for 5 years and i also struggle with leaps. i am very flexible i just can’t get high. i hope this helps me! i’m glad it helped you!!

    I’ve been dancing for 11 years and have all my splits and I’m taking advanced classes yet I still suck at leaps and I’m so embarrassed about it. Im going to try all these tips before class every week and I hope I improve :]

      yes!! I have the flexibility (I think) but my hips aren't very flexible so it doesn't let me go completely down...

    I’m a teen beginner (ballet) and I’m very flexible ( I have a gymnastics background so yeah) and I was reccomended for company auditions but I’m afraid of having to do the leaps because I can’t seem to get high enough to fully extend my legs. Thank you!

    I used to do Irish dance, and it’s actually really hard to do our jumps.. You can’t use Plié and you can’t use your arms.. So it’s hard. I’m also someone who grew up on ballet and jazz so then it was hard doing a switch to that. But now I’m back into ballet.

      Yeah, I'm an Irish Dancer, and I almost feel like it's easier to do certain jumps in these dances because you can bend your leg for that spring, unlike irish dance, you cannot.

    Your tips were very helpful! Could you give advice on how to keep your upper body from looking like a mess in the air. My jumps are just not that pretty. Thanks!

      Work on your port de bras by itself without doing the jump first, and get comfortable with finding the right arm positions easily... I also find that doing core work and strengthening your upper body helps :-)

    My teacher is not to happy with my leaps since I am in an advanced class I can’t wait to do all these tips later when I can practice hopefully they will improve cause I wanna prove I belong in the advanced class. Leaps are my kryptonite when it comes to dance.

    In an arabesque leap, how do I get my back leg higher? Should I work on my regular arabesque to get it higher or do these exercises?

    I’ve been dancing for 7 years and I can’t really split if can’t really leap or do a pirouette or a leg lift or a toe touch so I’m trying to learn in 2 in a half months because I have tryouts in September

    I’ve been dancing for like 8 years now (I’m 11) and I’m great at turns, splits need a tiny bit of work but oh my… my leaps are… something else! I can’t get my front leg high enough in the air to make it look good and im going to technique camp to work on it for 3 hours a day 4 days. And I at least want to look decent at them… help me.

    Aha! I am an Irish Step Dancer who does cross training in this type of dance, and it's true that we don't bend our knees. Like, ever. This video helps a lot!

    I was 6 when I started dance but when u stared doing leaps I had trouble bring my back leg up and the thing which would annoy me a lot is that say plie more like I am but nope 😐

    Hi my turning center and regular center don’t look good at all! I’ve been doing all of your exercise to get a better turning center for about 2 weeks and they still look bad! Please help me, I have tryouts in exactly 205 days

      well there's nothing wrong with that if you've only been doing it for 2 weeks! that's not very long at all! keep working on it... you still have plenty of time! I promise once you keep doing them consistently you'll get much better 💙
