Notice how every home run they hit, there's always players on base. Rarely see a solo home run. That's the secret, you get on base, you create more runs.
@M Not even close. Soccer players have a lot of skill but American's won't embrace it. Look at MLS in the United States, I only know one team name and that's because they're local. Never watched even 2 minutes of a soccer game other than World Cup.
I was ten years old when this streak happened....and it's something that you don't forget. This radio commentary gives me chills every time I hear it :)
The 2012 win over the Rangers on the last day of the season is for now the greatest game I have ever been to as someone that understands baseball and is a die hard fan of the A's, but I was at another legendary game when I was 12yrs, the game that Ricky Henderson tied the all time stolen base record vs. the Angels, new to baseball I didn't realize what I witnessed,
Not a baseball fan, Moneyball brings me here, and this is unbelievable. Maybe the greatest in the history in perspective of smaller in everything... club size, financial stataus, the management and couch team...
Living on the east coast, It’s easy to lose track of baseball on the west coast. I remember hearing about It and watching highlights on ESPN. But watching this makes me realize how incredible it was. How can you not love baseball..
Isn't it incredible that the last 3 games of the streak came from comebacks (until the last one which they blew out a 11-0 lead) and ended in walk off wins? A true magic moment in baseball history.
I am so happy that someone put this together. I have an old friend who was out of the country while this happened, and he is a major A's fan, and he missed this all and had no idea this was going on. So I sent him the link to this video. Thanks for putting this together for us!
“You can Replay these 18 games 100 times and it’ll never happen again. The 1927 Yankees, Ruth Gehrig, murders row mad considered to be the best team to ever play didn’t even win 18. The best winning streak for them that year? 9. “ that bob costas woute gives me chills every time
My dad took me and my brothers to this game and we got lost on our way from sacramento , when we arrived at the coliseum we were let in the game for free and say right where miggy hit the walk off!!! SIMPLY AMAZING!! IT'S HARD NOT TO BE ROMANTIC ABOUT BASEBALL!!!!
Wonderful. Thanks for creating suh a great vid - listening to The Renaissance Man, Bill King calling it home, and completing it with that line, "In 103 years of American League Baseball" gives me goose bumps every time.
Thanks for making this! I've been looking for highlights from all the games for awhile, especially game 18 since I was there, best sporting event I've ever been to.
It's funny to watch the movie now. A lot of these guys became All Stars and big names, yet at the time most were players nobody wanted or heard of. The whole country was caught up in it.
I was overseas when this was happening. One of the guys in my unit was a huge A’s fan and was getting newspaper clippings from his dad. At game 20 we were able to use a sat phone to call his dad to find out the score and he lost it when his father told him.
Hey Joey! Good to see this has a bunch of views...I remember chatting with you on ESPN boards. I'm on the MLB boards as AlwaysSONNYinOak. Come chat again bro, it's been a while!
Picked the background music, while still able to hear the announcer. Good music compilation if nothing else (songs with lyrics bad). Nice tribute too.
Just watched Moneyball and what an amazing achievement and strategy it was. It makes complete sense. So do teams use the money ball system in the modern era? I follow NBA more than the Superbowl from New Zealand.
I wish he still played. One of my favorite players on one of my favorite teams and I'm a Seattle native...Your cuz had a great approach at the plate and when I coached back then I would always point to Eric's plate approach....Very logical like Ichiro....2001 Mariners were fun to watch too...
Ya know why it hadn't been done in 103 years? Simple. If you assume that a teams chances of winning every game are 1 out of 2, that is, 50-50, the odds of winning 20 in a row, by chance alone, are 2 to the 20th power, or one in 1,048,576. A team would have to play 20 games, one-million, forty-eight thousand, five-hundred, & seventy-six times before they would be likely to win 20 in a row (by chance). Incidentally, the odds are the same that a team would have *any* sequence of wins and losses over twenty games. Of course, every team does have some sequence of wins and losses every time they play 20 games. We just don't notice, or care, that the chances of that specific sequence of wins and losses is also 1 in 1,048,576, Similarly, you'd have to flip a coin 20 times, 1,048,576 times before being likely to have 20 heads (or tails, or any specific sequence). Thanks for the video and upload. I'm sure it took a lot of work. You preserved history.
@@takabrakgames561 They rise a little, but, for example, the most games in a row the 1927 Yankees won was seven. I think the As were only 8 or 10 games over .500 when the streak began.
Hatteberg's Homer in game 20 gives me goosebumps every time.
Hatty went to WSU, my dad went to college with him and i was able to meet him. such a humble guy!
@MANCHESTER UNITED Its called football
@MANCHESTER UNITED Foot fairy
After watching Moneyball, I appreciate this team a whole lot more. :)

Watching this game live at the stadium is probably my #1 memory just ahead of the 2012 final regular season win over the ranges to take the division.

I remember going to a few games during the streak. Great baseball moment
Here on the 22-year anniversary of Hatteberg’s walk-off HR vs. KC and this still gives me chills. Thank you for this edit + the A1 music choice
Wish I was old enough to really enjoy this iconic moment in sports

Great memories of this streak, I was heading into college that year and it felt like the world was there for the taking

this was awesomeness, i still remember how much i got mad when we lost the next day but that made it all the more special

I wish I could go back to 2002 . Shit is crazy now ! Bless up Bill king and Let's go OAKLAND!!!!!!! and thanks for the video !
You want to hear a joke. What separates the loyal fans and the bandwagon fans? The Bay Bridge! #LetsGoOakland
Bill King...greatest ever!
I miss hearing him call games.
It was a truly fabulous moment!!
the fact their 20th win was legit an 11-0 collapse followed by a walk-off home run is just ridiculous!!
The A's are so awesome. And we are do for another world series. Let's GO Oakland!
Hate baseball, hate sports in general, but every time I get hammered, I watch this video.
greatest highlight video ever
i miss hearing Bill King call games
Thanks for making this! I've been looking for highlights from all the games for awhile, especially game 18 since I was there, best sporting event I've ever been to.
Pure magic gave me chills even to this day.
Wow!!! This was an unbelievable video bro; i got chills watching them all; Go Oakland A's!!!!!!!
I was at game number 18 and it was magic. We were in left field bleachers drumming. This was a very special Team
Billy Beane has re-invented baseball for ever with his model !
he changed this sport like no one else.
And that model has crippled the A's.
so beautiful.. hatteberg hitting that homerun is probably my favorite moment in baseball..
It's funny to watch the movie now. A lot of these guys became All Stars and big names, yet at the time most were players nobody wanted or heard of. The whole country was caught up in it.
I still can’t believe my Angels stayed in the race against a team like this. And eventually won the World Series
This video is worth every minute to watch.
It's amazing how much the way people play the game has changed since then.
The greatest crime is this team not winning the World Series. Could have saved Oakland’s ball club and built them a new stadium
I was two years old when this winning streak happened.
Thank you for uploading. Enjoyed reliving the memories.
That epic high five with the coach syncs perfectly with the music 15:18
'That one there is GONE!' Love the commentator saying that, when Scotty hits his homerun! :)
Great Job....I'm a Cub fan and I found this compelling as hell!
I was overseas when this was happening. One of the guys in my unit was a huge A’s fan and was getting newspaper clippings from his dad. At game 20 we were able to use a sat phone to call his dad to find out the score and he lost it when his father told him.
It deserves a great movie for history !
Great set of videos. Except for the choice of music. Like spray painting the Mona Lisa.
Good moments of the good old day's all time great a's history
Outstanding. Thank you for the response. I look forward to watching that. Thanks again Joey.

Hell yeah man! I haven't been on there in ages. I'll be on their soon.
Oakland A's fan here, from Michigan.
great video man, I think I have watched it everyday atleast 3 times for the past week
Great Vid
We hit so many homers
Chavez & Tejada
Go As
Explosions in the Sky ❤
The best team in baseball in 2001-2002
Would have liked it better if the LOUD music had not drowned out the announcemers
Thanks for this!
Once again, sorry for the loud music volume at times. I didn't realize it was that loud while making the video.
Great video of an amazing streak!
Coco Crisp game 8 smh
ERIC CHAVEZ !!!!!!! simply awesome
one handed hit
I really miss Bill King (and Lon Simmons too).
Great memories!
Joe Buck should be forced to listen to Bill King to learn how announce.
I remember that the A's only gained a few games on the Angels because during this times, they won like 14 or 15 games.
Funny seeing highlights with Coco on a different team. Hope he stays in Oakland for the rest of his career.
Oakland And Undertaker Have Something In Common The Streak
I was there for win 20! It was epic!!
John Mabry was a stud during this streak!
Fantastic!!!! Great job!!! I Grew up in Oakland and sat in the bleachers for $1.50 Loved your video. Keep it coming!
A's fan for life
Young Eric Chavez
Incredible!
This soundtracks pretty dope
6:08 Oh look, it's Coco. Little did he know, he'd play for this team eventually.
Andrew Pestotnik coco crisp is my favorite player ever to play on the A's but he did retire but still is my favorite ever to play on the athletics.
I got his jersey out in Oakland one time.
Andrew Pestotnik sweet I don't even have a jersey
gtgamerelit E I have most of our jerseys
Andrew Pestotnik lucky
Wow amazing to look at this and see how Cleveland 2017 pasted this and broke the record period
Thank you so much!!
That streak is all well and good, but who won the World Series that year? I'll wait...
Picked the background music, while still able to hear the announcer. Good music compilation if nothing else (songs with lyrics bad). Nice tribute too.
Wish there was more 20th game footage. But this was a great compilation!
Anyone think the last pitch was to Hatte was ... cough... paid off?
So impressive!
Unbelievable.
I was there! I was 12. it was epic!
Thanks for making this man :)
i like how this video has no dislikes
Just watched Moneyball and what an amazing achievement and strategy it was. It makes complete sense. So do teams use the money ball system in the modern era? I follow NBA more than the Superbowl from New Zealand.
Every team uses it now so it's less effective for small market teams
great video man i wish my cousin still played for the A's (Eric Chavez)

What a sweet swing
the late Bill King never held back......"the A's blew an 11 run game lead ......." lol sure miss him!!!
thank you
Jesse Houston No problem man. Thanks for watching!
Nice soundtrack too!!
It's Mark Petrie - Go Time. Look it up on youtube and you should find it!! And thanks!!
even tho I'm a dodgers fan the A's are my second favorite but nice season and reminds me of moneyball
motivation for the city
I was at the 20th game.. what a night :)
If you guy's like the A's then please watch the movie "Moneyball" . It's about them.
Like if Money Ball led you to this.

However, the chances rise substantially if the team in question had a record like that of the A's. Even so, the odds are astronomically low.
No
So you're sayin there's a chance!
