- This march that has been at home in England since the late 17th century and, following its American independence, also in the United States (there from the end of the 18th century). Here we hear the Hanoverian counterpart in the style of play around 1820. The Hanoverian Guard Grenadier Regiment had been in the city of Hanover since 1820; In 1838 it was renamed the Guard Regiment. The King of Hanover was then King of Great Britain in personal union. When the Electorate of Hanover was occupied by Napoleonic troops in 1805, a large part of the Hanoverian army fled to England to serve there as The King's German Legion, first in Spain under the command of Wellington. In 1815 the KGL even provided a large part of the "British" armed forces at the battle of "Belle Alliance". At the beginning of 1816, these contingents finally entered the "liberated" city of Hanover as the first units. The fact that this glorious British traditional march now quickly gained friends on the mainland, just as little as the assignment as a regimental march of the Hanoverian Grenadier Guard in 1821. When in 1900 the former royal Hanoverian regimental marches were taken over into the Prussian army march collection, the piece came out of inattentiveness a second time Times as AM II, 227 in. But it is hardly ever played in Germany.
