- Timmy Turner came to a depressing realization in an episode of The Fairly Oddparents, which goes down as one of the most infamous in the series. Butch Hartman supposedly apologized for making it, but why? What makes It's A Wishful Life one of the darkest stories?

Hey Cosmo and Wanda, I wish this episode didn't exist
Me too

Ha!
Hey Vail! Can you talk about what happen to Knock-off gravity fall?
"Timmy is a selfish character."
Given his upbringing and how he's constantly left with an abusive babysitter, parents who actively wish he wasn't a thing, a teacher who would fail him even if he gota perfect score on a test, can you really blame him for being a little selfish?
I felt like Timmy went downhill as a character in the later seasons. Like the more the show progressed the more mean spirited he and other characters got.
I liked 1-5 version of Timmy the most for your reasonings. Of course he was "selfish" because there was problems relating to him wanting to be spoiled.
And overtime Butch fucked it over, and started to satire the show abit. And Timmy went from this relatable dude whose wishes got out of hand, and fixed his problems at the end of the episode. To being your typical bratty kid.

*Here is why the moral of this episode doesn't work:*
Jorgan claims that Timmy was only doing good deeds just to get a positive reaction from his friends and peers, but even though he was hoping to be appreciated back, the things Timmy did were still incredibly thoughtful, and the fact that his friends didn't at least _try_ to be grateful makes _them_ the selfish ones, NOT TIMMY.
Exactly. Why doesn't anyone else see this?

Like- he wasn’t expecting anything big even, he just wanted a thank you-
@@lewis9535 I know, right? Not only was everyone extremely ungrateful towards Timmy, but their reasons for not liking his good deeds also feel very nitpicky (except for maybe Cosmo and Wanda) on top of that:
-Mr. Bickles hated the stage backdrop that Timmy painted for him because it was just _slightly_ off from how he envisioned it, without even giving Timmy so much as any constructive criticism;
-A.J. was disappointed in the computer Timmy bought for him because it was outclassed by a newer model just *_five minutes_* prior;
-And finally, Timmy's parents hated that Timmy cleaned up the front yard, not because there was anything wrong with it (minus the hedge sculpture of Mrs. Turner), but because it caused them to lose a contest that Timmy *_DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT._*
@@jamesb.6197 yea- like my dudes ten, don’t yell at him 😭😭
Imagine if there was a part in the episode where Tootie starts crying because there is no boy that she likes.
That would have been good
I wish that happened. It would have been much better.
I wish that was in the episode.
Timmy doesn’t love her like she loves him so that might not be his problem
@@nicholasemiranda3057 The thing is there should have been at least one factor in Timmy's existence that deemed him at least deserving to be born and actually wanted in his timeline, and that could have at least been Tootie. Though I think Tootie would just be in love with the bully since he's actually decent in the non-existent timeline. But I think the reason why Tootie likes Timmy is because Timmy is actually nice to her despite everyone else's manners towards her? I don't have evidence for it though.
I can appreciate the message this episode was trying to get across; do good deeds from the kindness of your heart, and not just because you'll get rewarded. But yes, the execution was poorly handled. Perhaps if they didn't go with the "if I was never born" trope it would have worked better.
Not to mention with a lesson like this, you all have to consider the other person. What this episode is saying whether intentional or not, is that it's ok to be an ass to someone who is treating you well.
The beginning of the episode was also incredibly poorly handled. I can understand Timmy thinking he's going to get a material reward for doing good and then not getting it. However this episode begins with him getting yelled at, not even getting so much as a thank you, because someone didn't like the tiniest little minuscule detail of whatever good thing he did. Quite a few times he really did put in the work, like painting the set and making the lawn look nice, and just got screamed at over some little detail. No to mention that nothing about it really gives me the impression that he was doing it for a reward, it only seems like he wanted a thank you because it was all put together very poorly. When I was little, I didn't even understand why the end of the episode was what it was. Nothing in the beginning told me that he was awaiting some actual reward, so I didn't understand why he was told don't do things for rewards in the end.
Execatly. I understand they were trying to say that good deeds are done because you want to, not because you need to. But because Timmy's good deeds are so enmoroius, like painiting the school play background, getting AJ a new computer and making a beatiful gardern for his parents and everyone act like spoiled brats with the episode keeps claiming that Timmy was in the wrong, the message came of as "You're awlays gonna be in the wrong if you do good deeds just to get a little appreciation, not matter how big they are." This episode SUCKS!!!
This episode's right about Crocker. Timmy really did ruin his life with that time-traveling episode.
But Cosmo was the one who originally ruined his life. Timmy only time travel to help Crocker's future, but when he ruined it, Timmy couldn't time travel to the exact same time again, meaning that he couldn't go back in time so the event isn't on loop because Cosmo was the one who originally ruined Crocker so it still doesn't make sense.
@@Nameless82284 of course it makes sense. Cosmo is Timmy's Fairy, therefore if Timmy didn't exist, none of it would've happened. Pretty sure Chester would've kept them an actual secret.
Accept it, no matter how shitty the episode is, realistically Timmy is a burden on existence.

Honestly, you can't really blame Timmy for being selfish. Growing up with negligent parents that leave you with a sadistic babysitter, constantly getting ridiculed in school, etc. would screw up anyone.
I feel like Cosmo and Wanda being around is the one thing that kept him from ending it all.
u can blame timmy for being selfish tho if he had only 3 wishes that i could understand but he has infinite wishes so there is nothing stopping him from wishing there was no more world hunger or something like that
But they are his fairies do not other peoples fairies they’re his very so he decides what he gets to do with them sorry I’m not trying to be mean I’m just saying just my opinion
Disagree. Timmy is supposed to be given fairies cuz he’s unfortunate. However Chester is literally living in poverty but he’s not given fairies because his dad is around (???) and in this episode he was VERY READY to cast all his friends and family into poverty
@@juanpablorobayo3437 Eh. Every show's always gonna have those glaring inconsistencies. It's annoying but at this point what are you gonna do?
@@juanpablorobayo3437No it’s because Chester is happy. He likes having his dad around and he doesn’t mind his way of life. That’s why when Chester dad became rich he got Fairy god parents because he was lonely.
I really hate the moral with the context of the episode. Timmy did All those good deeds only for everyone to act privileged or say "you ruined it you insensitive jerk!" When he ceased to exist, everyone lives were drastically improved, so it makes sense for Timmy to disappear as an act of one final good deed. His literal existence brought so much suffering to the people around him. It's like Flash Paradox with Flash's mom.
To those who never read the comic or saw the animated movie. Flash had lost his mom at a young age, so he went back in time to save her. His mom was able to survive to present, but her existence ruined the entire world. Half of Europe's population was drowned, half of Africa's population was murdered by Gorilla Grodd, India is ruled by a druglord, Nazis took over South America, and a lot of our heroes are dead. All because she was allowed to live. Can you imagine all the word's suffering originating from literally you, and your death would be the greatest thing to ever happen?
Back to Timmy's story, it would have been better if his friends and family did not acknowledge all the hard work at first which angered Timmy for not getting recognition. Timmy would believe the world wouldn't change nor miss him if he disappear. There, we have Jorgon telling Timmy how he did impacted the world on a personal level, his friends and family. Timmy learned that he would break a lot of hearts as he made a significant void to his love ones. Timmy wished everything went back to normal and his friends and family did acknowledge the deeds done by Timmy but never thanked him. Timmy is okay with that because he doesn't care about recognition. He cares about helping and doing what's right for the sake of it. A lot better than the unintentionally implied idea of committing suicide because your existence cause all the suffering around you.
how the fuck does all that crazy shit happen because one person gets to beat death
Thank you for mentioning the beginning of the episode. I never understood why they were always yelling at him. He never even got a thank you, even when he put in a lot of work. The episode would have made a lot more sense had he been awaiting some sort of material reward and didn't get it. But he honestly has a legitimate reason for thinking the world is better off without him in this episode, which is a problem.
Wait I’ve never seen the movie nor the comic
How does the Flash’s mother ruin the whole world?
@@midnightthesmartfox9981 It's the typical butterfly effect that many time traveling narratives have. Flash mentioned that changing the past would cause ripples in the timestream which allowed more changes. Even then, there's no real direct connection between her death and the various events around the world. I guess there are a lot less heroes protecting the world, which resulted in this crises, but that's way too much for letting one person to live. Some parts could make sense like Flash acting like a glue to various heroes, and him not becoming one resulted a few S tier heroes being blood thirsty tyrants (Aquaman sanked Europe and Wonderwoman genocided the British Isles). But some felt too isolated like Bruce being killed instead of his parents or Clark crashing in metropolis rather than rural Kansas. Really, I think the narrative is more on Flash's fuck up as he should be ashame for doing something selfish. While I like the world of Flash Parodox for its dark tone, I hate it was the result of this since you are really stretching with the butterfly effect.
@@randomusername429 Yes, that always confused me at the beginning. Maybe Timmy originally wanted to help or do something nice because he wanted to, but he received the exact opposite. Was it Timmy's fault to not plan ahead or assumed what his friends and family wanted without talking to them? Yes, but is it justified to act that way when that person was genuinely helping you? No. I guess another possible episode from this mess is to have Timmy to think and plan rather than jump to conclusions. His heart was in the right place, but he should understand the situation better or find silver linings whenever someone was mad at his deed.

Yes.
Yup especially when she got no development.
True. It put the series downhill.
To be fair, it's kind of more the network's fault.
Chloe ruined the show in my opinion :(
There was a similar episode of Beavis and Butthead where an angel tries to convince Butthead to kill himself by showing everyone he knows being better off without him. That show did it right by having the character be consistently irredeemable and having an audience old enough to understand this. Children, however, need a heroic character to relate to. In The Fairly Oddparents' case, that's Timmy. So if you're going to give Timmy _this much_ cruelty, you better have a good reason for it.
Meh, as a a child I never cared for heroic characters. I always rated more to the anti hero/ rival character
This could have been salvaged if it showed their lives being better without Timmy was merely a facade
When I was younger, I actually theorized that Jorgan created that alternate reality as a facade to teach Timmy the moral of the episode, just like what Vailskibum stated in this video (but even so, the moral still doesn't work in this episode, as I've stated in another comment under this video).
it would’ve been cool to see Tootie turn into Vicky because of Timmy being gone
While the whole moral of "do good for the sake of being of good without expectation of anything in return" is good, this episode portrays it poorly. By having all of Timmy's good deeds chastised, the episode whether intentionally or not is saying that it's ok to be an ass to someone that is treating you well and has no obligation to help you.
Oh yeah definitely. They could have definitely chosen a different and more impactful trope if this is really the conclusion/moral they expected us to comprehend. All I got from this episode as a kid was extreme sadness because it hurt me to see that Timmy's existence seemingly only brings "suffering" to his entourage, heck even the people he isn't directly related to, as ridiculous as it looks. It was like a trauma for me and I was so upset that he was being so kind to his friends/family and none of them would even sort a "thank you, much appreciated" ONCE, which is a basic manner of recognition. Like you said, I felt like this episode was straight out claiming that "without you in their lives, your parents would probably be better off and your friends successful and happier. Yeah you're waste of space" Soo mean spirited and unnecessary. It's definitely the worst one of the entire series for me and I wish I could forget it lol.
PS: Love your pfp I'm an Ace Attorney fan too!
It's not selfish to look out for yourself. Timmy tries to care for his own needs and wants because no one else will. That's the point of a fairy god parent, to try to make their god kid happy

And that's the point, the person with the comment likely was a lot younger when they watched this.
@@guillermoguzman2953 The ultimate point I'm making here is that you are this pressed about how people feel about a certain message in a video, just because it's based on something else? It doesn't matter in this context, everyone is either worried about how sad it is for Timmy as a character or the fact that a negative message like that is shown to kids.
@@guillermoguzman2953 I don't know man, you are putting way too much thought into this, and it's making you unable to see why it's so disturbing for kids. Multiple people in the comments section say they wonder or felt bad thinking if they didn't exist would things be better because of this episode. You are really going to get mad at them because they didn't know what the "parody" is based on as children? (By the way, parody and based on are essentially the same thing)
It was a lot harder to find source material back then for regular viewers since the internet was a lot smaller. So even if one wanted to see, "Hm, I wonder if any other show/movie tackled this," I'd be too much effort. And I doubt that kids would be interested in the original movie. I probably wouldn't have been if I was younger.
And human empathy is why we feel for fictional characters man. You are putting way too much thought into the concept.
And you say it's not that serious, but you are so hard pressed as to why people shouldn't feel how they feel. It's kinda contradictory. What you are doing is wanting everyone to think how you think, instead of meeting people where they are at and fully understanding why they feel what they feel.
Plus, you are thinking one needs to reevaluate their life because of something that happened a while ago, again meanwhile saying that it's not that serious...?

Commenting here for a notification of context
I remember this terrible episode back when it first aired, but I actually figured out someone who's life actually would be worse if Timmy never existed, and it's not Tootie. Tootie probably would be better off without Timmy so she could direct her focus on developing herself like Crocker, but the one character who's life would be miserable without Timmy is Mark Chang. Without Timmy, Mark would have been forced to marry Princess ManDie since he would not be able to hide from her on Earth, and by extension the alliance of ManDie's homeworld and Yukopotamia would have destroyed Earth in universal conquest as Mark described. So technically Timmy has made everyone's lives better by allowing them to have one at all, but we know shows like this don't pay that close attention to continuity, right?
also if Timmy wasn't born the darkness from that trilogy they did would've destroyed fairy world if Timmy wasn't there to save the day
I understand the message of this episode but it still rubs me the wrong way like in the beginning of the episode when Timmy was doing good deeds he never even got a lease a thank you all he got was people complaining especially that scene with AJ Timmy probably save a lot of money to buy his friend a new computer but it turns out that the computer Timmy bought was a old model and AJ wanted new model and to add insult to injury AJ take the computer and tossing it out of the room without giving Timmy any appreciation that makes AJ seems like an ungrateful jerk. Having everybody's live better without Timmy isn't funny it does makes the episode seems mean-spirited and sad I do agree that Tootie should have should have been in this episode she will have been the only character who was miserable without Timmy
I realize now that I’m older that this show is very mean spirited on its own. Like there are so many jokes about abuse and neglect and depression and I understand it’s to show just how miserable timmys life really is but sometimes even as a kid watching it i knew that it just takes it to far.
Lmfaooo and that's exactly why some of the jokes in the show still hold up today, it's very cynical for a kids show but i think that's what makes it unique. Dark humor kids shows are an oxymoron but in the most liberal definition i think the show definitely has its moments of it.
I detected this as well. I hated how child abuse was just laughed at like it isn't a serious matter. Not to mention, Cosmo and Wanda became a depiction of a failing marriage in its last days before a divorce. I remember an episode that constantly had the running gag of marriage being a bad thing.
The crew behind Fairly Odd Parents were obviously having martial troubles or grew up in neglected homes...or they were just plain evil.

The part where you mentioned how Timmy could see through the facade that the lives of his friends and family would be better without him would be an amazing premise. I think it would teach kids how to strengthen yourself by looking past the voices in your head.
See to me this really validates the depression theory. Where his wish to not exist bus a spiral he went through thinking about how much better off everyone would be with him gone. That's a serious symptom of depression, and it kind of shines an extremely dark light upon the show and the meaning of everything in it.
EDIT: like for instance his string of F's in school, he pretty much makes it apparent he doesn't care. Then the fact that both his parents barely give a fuck about their own kids life as their always off doing their own thing without him. Dumping him unto others or making him fend for himself. Then Mr.Crocker actually could be trying to help him, as the theroy goes that his fairy godparents are his antidepressants. Which can be addicting, and would explain why he can't tell anyone about them out of fear of them being taken away. I have a feeling that this episode was a window into the true meaning of the show. Which is rather sad if it's true but not surprising given how butch really is.
Not really how antidepressants work
1:51 Personally, Chester never seemed miserable to me. He had very little, but he was pretty happy. The only times he ever seemed miserable was when he lost someone (his father, Timmy, etc.). These were the only times when he ever had Fairy Godparents too. His friends/family keep him from being miserable. Not to mention that when he did have Fairy Godparents, Chester hardly used any of the wishes for himself (both times). He didn't even wish for a house, just a bigger trailer. Chester cares far more about friends and family than material possessions so it really doesn't bother him that he has so little. Like I said, it is only when he doesn't have the people in his life that he seems to become miserable.
At least his parents had a decent reason to be pissed. The drama teacher was being hammy while AJ was just a prick.
The drama teacher was hammy.
The parents were, both in the right and both in the wrong, more like in the middle.
AJ was instead a flat out ungrateful ass.
I actually never noticed how meanspirited this episode was as a kid. It also never effected me in any way, maybe because I wasn't really paying attention to the episode back then.
I honestly thought this episode would of ended with showinh tutie's life being the only one miserable without him
looking back, I'm a bit surprised that Timmy didn't bother to mention that without him existing, Mark Chang's life would be much worse. Because either A) The Yugopotamians would have been subjugated by the Gigglepies, or B) Mark would be absolutely miserable in his arranged marriage to Princess Mandie because Timmy would not have found him a place to live in the Junkyard.
Weird because I like this episode
I respect your opinion but man it was dark if done right.
Yeah me to I don't understand why he's apologizing for it
Yeah, I kinda like it too lol
Show*
Ouch, that IS dark. Never really realized the weight of it as a kid.
When I was a kid I laugh my ass off with how depressed Timmy got. I was an strange kid.
Beeg beeg chungus
i was just like "yeah okay this is happening" xD
Jantheking Ouch Schadenfreude much?
@@shun3716 nah honestly i was a really dumb kid. cope is for smart people
Wait... if chester has fairies... doesn't it mean his life got worsened in order for it to improve?
Yeah, having Timmy feel guilty for *existing,* especially when he was trying to be nice and selfless at the start of the episode, that was not cool. Not to mention, the way *everyone* else was isn't even his fault, especially with his parents.
I really hate it's a wishful life
And to think I thought I was the only one who saw this episode as a kid
TheMysteriousMrEnter has already covered this on his hit series Atrocities cartoon...
Shut up bro
No critic owns a topic.
Yes, I seen it. One of my favorite CZcamsr because he tells the truth. But what does this have anything to do with it? Just because Mrenter talked about doesn't mean that no one is allowed to talk about it anymore.
🤔so me pointing out a specific critic who did this mean I'm entitling it to that specific viewer?
Cause there a lot of viewer who reviews this episode, I'm just happy to see another critic give their opinion on the episode geez
The fairly odd parents and Jimmy neutron crossover is the best
What does that have to do with this episode?
So we can have a episode that Butch LOVED and us too
Yeah
Which part was the best?
I personally liked all 3.
Ok
I remember this episode really hitting home for me as a kid. It honestly probably made at least a few people’s lives worse for a while. Imagine some mentally ill kid sitting down to watch their favorite show and forget reality for a while, and they see this shit.
I have a theory: The Fairy Council placed a curse on Timmy Turner when he started to exist that made it that he had to be the sole representation of all trouble that a god kid could cause or deal with. He is literally cursed to deal with and create every kind of problem a god kid could have in life so no other kid has to. Mr. Crocker stops believing in fairies, Fairy World nearly drops into the Sun! Timmy wishes there was no Friday so the anti-fairies don’t show up, Jorgen explains that Fairy World has a shield to protect “specifically” Dimsdale from the anti-fairies but has to be recharged on Friday! Any world ending situation that happens has to at least be because of an enemy or even friend of Timmy’s but of course most of the time Timmy’s wishes. For some reason there’s never a news report about some danger another god kid wished up, only Timmy’s are reported from Dimdale to worldwide!
The incident with Da Rules when Cosmo was temporary guardian because Jorgen had Abrakahiccups hinted that other god kids cause trouble, plus the former god kid that stole Wanda's wand and used it to kill Arch Duke Ferdinand
This is one of the most darkest episode in the fairly off parents
I loved this episode as a kid. Never knew people didn't like it
Neither did I.
Same I thought it was just a normal episode
I didn't think much of it either but then again I didn't really pay attention to what they were saying in the episode.
@@weed75black35 I paid attention to what their saying kinda. Like I knew what was happening but it never made me depress. I thought it was a good episode. I never took it to heart because it was just a cartoon. I didn't know people actually took it to heart.
Why did you love it?
VAIL... VIDEO IDEAS!
- FAMILY GUY
-AMERICAN DAD
-SOUTH PARK
-THE SIMPSONS?
Please..... 😅
I've watched your videos for like 4 years or so? And I'd love to see more of these topics?
Oh this episode
My thoughts exactly when I saw the title card
Mr. Tiaan yeah
Timmy Turner is basically the Meg Griffin of his universe
Honestly I think this show made me cry or something....buh it really hit me hard.
A lot of the situations in the timmy-less world where absolute Bull.
Especially the ones involving Elmer, AJ, Francis, and Crocker. In fact. This episode also broke the canon a little. Because Crocker was always crazy for fairies. He would've looked to another kid for it
This episode was the most mean spirited one ever
Crocker was only crazy for fairies because he was revoked of his godparents Cosmo and Wanda in 1986 after Timmy traveled back in time, so without Timmy he would've kept them until he outgrows them.
@@CadetGriffin But the episode also shows that past Cosmo was gonna blab anyway, Timmy just jumped past Cosmo and Crocker to stop the secret from getting out and explaining himself to past Crocker, but present Cosmo being the idiot that he is turned the damn mics on. Yeah Timmy's to blame for interfering in the past, but he wanted to commit a selfless act to help himself, his friends and peers as in March 15th Crocker makes their school day more miserable, it's the whole no good deed goes unpunished or you can't change the past.
@@aozorahaou2643 Yes but it was still Timmy's fault because without Croker writing on Aj's tracker then how is he going to remember about faries existing
#SaveTimmy
I thought it'd be a nice tag line for a PSA to give Timmy some love and support. I mean it would come off like those PSA's back in the 80s and 90s in which has all of our favorite characters that teach kids to stay off drugs. Whether it's McGruff or Pee Wee Herman or the combined efforts of Alf, Michelangelo, Bugs Bunny and Ms. Piggy.
When i saw this episode as a kiddo i was like “couldnt they just make a kind of device with a screen that shows how would the world look as he walked” instead of sending him into another dimension
As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I immediately knew what episode it was.
For a kid show, a completely mean spirited moral.
Did this episode trigger anyone else's suicidal thoughts?
Following the "Jorgen creates a false reality idea", they could have had Jorgen arbitrarily decide to hijack Timmy's wish to cause him pain and turmoil since he finds joy in the pain of others.
I remember this episode and it was messed up, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought this episode was horrible. Seriously, how was this okay'd?
I love your videos, Val!
If Butch needs to apologise, it should be for season 10.
Dang, if i never exist my mother and father would’ve been sad. ☹︎
Mine would've been Happy
Considering how much money, time and energy I've costed them, I wouldn't be surprised if my parents would be happy without me
If you never existed, they wouldn't know about you to be sad you don't exist. They'd probably still be happy just happy from different things
As a kid I watched this episode and thought it was normal lol
I rewatched the series recently on Amazon, and when I saw this episode, I just had a real WTF moment. I had vaguely remembered it as a kid and apparently it didn't bother me much, but here I am in my early 20s feeling depressed after watching an episode of a kids show.
Honestly not sure how it got past censors
I remember as a kid being terrified of this episode, because my mom and my dad had disappeared abruptly. They just vanished, so I thought they had wished I didn't exist, and were living it up rich somewhere. Still hits me hard even now, as my dad got back in contact but I'm nothing but his best friend, and my mom acts just like Timmy's
This episode fucked with my mental health as a kid, it made me start thinking that everyone's lives would be better off if I were dead or didn't exist, in a time when my mental health was already not very good to begin with.
As much as Timmy can be really selfish knowing he has magical fairy god parents, there’s no denying how cute he is. I love Timmy’s buck teeth and Tara strong’s vocal performance is phenomenal too! No one else could replace that voice!
Weirdly enough, this was actually my favourite episode as a kid, I was surprised to see it in the thumbnail, but after a rewatch I realise just how mean spirited it was
People keep saying that the message of this episode was poorly handled like it isn’t an understatement about what’s horribly wrong with this episode. It’s a scenario where a kid wishes he was never born and reality thought it was better off without him. A kid should not reflect from being in a situation like that, they are just gonna scarred and traumatized by the information that should not be possible ever! I heard that this could represent someone having suicidal thoughts but Timmy could have actually gotten them since it was explained that his existence was a threat since birth! Whoever thought up this episode deserves a physical scar and I don’t care if it includes Butch.(ok I may be going over on the last part)
I saw this episode when I was a child but I remember that I thought it was actually funny, because you expect to see that other people lives would have been worse, because is a cartoon for children, but instead there is this unexpected twist and I found it hilarious, not sad, also because it teaches you that your life is worth it anyway, it doesn't matter if you're not as others expect you to be
Yeah I thought this episode was funny too. It's dark humor, plus the positive message is still in it. The episode was done to subvert expectations
@@secoTheSonicFan only whiner I see here is you
Maybe apologize for the entire final season.
Some episodes can end depressing. But this takes it to a whole new level.
great vid
Great episode
To be honest I absolutely loved this episode when I was younger and still do
Why though?
When I was younger I found it really funny don’t remember why but even now looking back I know get why it’s controversial but in my opinion i find it just as good as I did when I was younger
I remember this episode! I watched it when I was like 6. And I liked it
This episode has lived in my head ever since I saw it as a kid
first thing i thought before even watching the video
He apologized for something!!??
The flaws but his good heart make timmy a good character. A good example when he gave tootie his fairys for a day or realised that the famous Chip is a nice guy. Unlike Chloe who is just perfect.
I was always emotionally unstable when it came to topics like these, i.e. "am I actually valuable?" or "Is it a good thing that I am alive?" etc. Looking back this actually seems pretty concerning, but back when I was a child those were just normal thoughts I regularly had. I know that I was a little younger than 10 when I watched the episode (I remember this because I always wanted to be the same age as Timmy, but when I actually turned 10 I wasn't really interested in the show anymore), I suppose I was 7 or 8 years old then. I don't know if this episode actively contributed to my emotional instability, or if it simply confirmed the thoughts I already had about myself; but what I know for sure is that it did quite a bit of damage to my mental health up to this day. If I wouldn't write this comment myself, I would believe the author of the text was exaggerating - after all, this was just an episode from a kids' show. But as of today, I finally sat down and watched the episode again. After all these years, I thought, I should finally try to cope with that "trauma" from the past. But although I am now twice as old as back then, I was still shivering throughout the entire episode. I wish I could just sit down with Butch Hartman for a while and ask him what he was thinking when he made "It's a wishful life". It wouldn't even need to be him, I would be ok to ask anyone who was involved in creating or just broadcasting this episode. I wonder if one of all these people regrets their decision... Or if one of them has thought about it at all.
Yeah this honestly really hurt me when growing up I’d look back to this episode a lot.
3:33 I remember reading a Christmas-themed Flintstones comic with an idea similar to this, with Fred as the protagonist, and the Great Gazoo showing him a world where things were different without him. Some aspects were better, but the worse parts far outweighed those.
I just realized that if Timmy was born than wouldn't the Darkness take over the universe or destroy it since Timmy is the chosen one
I remember this episode
Can you do a video about the "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" episode Lauren Faust APOLOGIZED for making? That one episode with Bendy.
Bendy was a piece of shit sure but Cheese is far worse.
The first time i saw this episode was when one of the earlier years of my adolescent, it really fucked me up mentally tbh. Everytime i fucked up or just when the world is against me, because of this, my mind immediately imagined how it would be better without me in it.
