  • A hike up Ben Arthur, a standout Corbet in the Arrochar Alps. With an elevation of 881 metres and It's unmistakable 3 jagged peaks, this wee gem is a great day out to climb. The weather on this particular day started off great, but by the time I reached the summit a massive cloud had descended, however that for me just added to the atmosphere despite losing the views.
The pinnacle of the trip for me was to fulfil the tradition of all who climb Ben Arthur of Threading The Needle!

@@DouglasGilgallon it was actually very similar to yours. Great weather on the way up, and just before the summit it got cloudy..

Excellent video. My family did a short tour of Scotland in 1972 and Arrochar was our base. We stayed in "The Cobbler" hotel with a perfect view of the Cobbler. Back then, I thought it would be an easy climb (typical energetic teen that I was) but never got a chance to try it. Seeing this video, I would have been well out of my element for sure, but I would still like to give it a try. Will have to put it on my "bucket list".
    Cheers, and stay well.

Hey Frank, thanks for leaving your kind comments. It never fails to amaze me the amount of folks who have such deep and special memories of that area of Scotland. A special place indeed. I hope you do get to climb the cobbler, it can be done for sure! ;-)
      Best Regards,
      Douglas.

Yeah Steve, a great mountain, impressive as hell to look at on the walk in. I will go back to the cobbler for sure one day as I was robbed of the view that day.
      Some you win...

First time I did the cobbler was with my mates. I was unfit and too heavy (250lbs) and i realised that cardio meant nothing compared to quad strength

I hear you there Atom Storm. I’ve had (on occasion), quad cramps that had me almost in tears with the pain! Lol.
      Thanks for commenting buddy,

Hey Duncan, I’m still around buddy. Just been working on a few ground level projects lol. I hope to get back out in the spring 2021 with a few more Munro’s that are on my wish list.
      Take care of yourself,
      Best Regards,
      Douglas.
