I read the comments and see I'm not the only one that is surprised and grateful that you are posting your primetime quality content for us free of charge. You work hard on your shows and deserve to have a network pay you for them. Thanks again for sharing with us during this time of need.
@y je i didnt pay SHIT so its free dawg
Well there are so many ads but true it's cool he deserves it
He did get paid by the network when he made then fucking 🤡
@lolseagull schooled that clown
Its not the money he will make its the lives we wants to save. Lots of folks watch him and even if one can survive from his lessons I would bet he would trade his wealth for that. Les may be a Canadian but he's an honorable Texan and is welcome to share my roof. Watch your top knot.
this show, growing up, was everything to me. Not having a father figure around made things a little difficult but being able to learn from you really showed me a lot. Not just with your survival skills but how you always kept a level head, no matter the situation you were in. This taught me a lot about patience and virtue. Thank you Les, for everything you've done and are doing and the many years of being a teacher and mentor.
Beautiful post. Hope you are in a good way these days and living the life you want now and going forward.
I didn't either. You know, I never thought I missed much, my mother was/is amazing. But now at late 30s, I do see what we were missing. No one to ask about girls, really, etc. Teach us to change tires.
"Rather be tried by twelve than be carried by six" great line Les.
I think that's a British army saying, meaning it's better to silence a threat than take a chance of it silencing you.
John Doe it means it’s better to kill someone and get arrested and put on trial then it is to be killed. Nothing to do with the British army it’s an old hood saying lmao
I always shot first then ask questions later.
Everytime I watch a survivorman episode it makes me want to go try starting a fire with a bow drill
Do it- don't think about it, don't hesitate, don't talk about it- go do it.
More director's commentary, please! I've already watched the other ones ten times!!!! Thank you for this
Even though I've seen every episode you've ever done, I love having your director's commentaries to rewatch these gems all over again. Also, it's nice having all of your content in one place. You've been an inspiration to many all over the world for a long time. Take care and God bless, Les lol
Remember watching the series a while back. Haven't had cable in years but it was nice to sit down and watch. I doubt I will end up in a situation but I would like to think some of the knowledge from your show will help. I always tell people I may not keep a clean car but if I end up in the middle of nowhere and break down I will have most everything I need to be half way comfortable. Always keep extra clothes, a blanket, some water, foodstuff that won't go bad sitting in the car and tools to do most anything I can think of. I pity the person who caries nothing and ends up in the same situation. I have slept in the back seat a few times while traveling and being too cheap or broke to pay for a room. It's not the best place but usually curl up with the dog who makes sure to keep a good watch over me.
You've always been an inspiration in my adventures. Whenever I've been too cold, I think of Shackleton trekking Antarctica with no gloves. Whenever I've been too lost, I think of Les Stroud, alone, always sharing survival with us even in the most dire situations.
One of the best pieces of equipment anyone can carry into the wilderness is an Army poncho. It's lightweight, and packs small, but is incredibly useful to keep you dry while hiking, and aid in making a shelter in a pinch.
Thank you Les for posting these, it's been years since I've watched Survivorman, but it was my favorite show growing up!
*turns on kitchen faucet* "This is actually a terrific find!" love you Les
Watching this while playing The Long Dark on PlayStation 4 👌🏾
Ever make it to 1000 days yet on interloper difficulty? Pain in the ... haha 500 days was pretty easy though. Get to the crashed plane as soon as possible. So much useful loot in those metal containers
Les. You are THE eminent expert on survival AND how to film ones self! Thank you for sharing your expertise at such a great personal cost. Can you share the rest of your episodes on here? I'd really like to see the one from Labrador. Thank you for all you do man!
That's it, I'm going into the woods later today.
Tomorrow.
This weekend.
After Quarantine.
Maybe I'll get off the couch and go in the yard.
👍
Great time to plant gardens and trees with nurseries still open and food supply in question. I've been doing it for yr.s anyway just accelerating it now, makes for a beautiful place to just BE plus always something to harvest all yr.
When freedom is outlawed only outlaws will be free
I bet thousands of people have been helped by this show by now, even if they didn't realize it at the time. This is great stuff, I used to imagine all the scenes about fire making or shelter building all being in one episode together, I guess you granted my wish on this one, dang.
Les, you started it all and still are the best survival show of all time. Thank you for coming on you tube. I wish the Survivorman show was still on TV. The only survivor show that even came close to yours was Dual Survival with Dave Canterbury and Cody Lundin. You are still the Best! Dave and Cody are really good as well.
I hope you continue making your serious. You are real, raw and intelligent. I love your narrative thank you Les!
I don't think I have ever seen a negative comment on a Survivorman video, just goes to show how much of a legend this guy is! Canadian Icon!
Your doing great keeping us entertained during all this Les! And your so young!!!! I miss those days.
Right on Les your the man😊🇨🇦🧘♀️
Can you start some harmonica lessons on CZcams? I've been playing for about 4 years and learning from CZcams, but you have the cleanest wah wah I've heard. I'd like to learn.
Videos and tv shows like this show the reality of survival. It is hard it is uncomfortable and it can be very painful. Being startled awake in the middle of the night by something moving near you is a feeling you never forget.
Once again I ask; how does this channel not have at least a million subs??
After almost 28 years of being a pampered city-dweller, I felt like a badass when I recently went camping for the first time and slept in a tent. Now I feel like a wimp haha.
Thanks for providing all this great content free of charge for us! Real good way to get a bit of an outside-fix during these trying times
This guy is so easy to understand so simple
How has this channel been around? I can’t believe I’m just finding this!
The way he edited the igloo making attempt footage is comedic genius. I laugh my ass off every time. Good work Les.
Thank you Les for these videos. It sure is helping me keep my mind off of what's happening in 2020. It relaxes me in watching something besides the damn news & this dang COVID-19 VIRUS.
Thank you so so much,
Chris from Missouri
Thanks for continuing to upload stuff while we are stuck home and bored
Back in the 70's (and through today), anyone who flew for the US military attended various survival schools that included POW Survival and Escape and Evasion (today those courses are known as SERE). And back then we were taught many of the same tricks and techniques that you expound, including recipes like cockroach tea (first you suck the guts out...). Between my training back then and additional and more modern techniques taught by you, I've always been confidant that I could survive in just about any situation. I may not enjoy it, but I'll come home alive.
Like a cup of tea?
Cheers from Sudbury, Ontario.
Thank you Les been with you since season one and the wisdom is very much appreciated and if I find myself in a situation I will ask what would survivor man do ....thanks for years of dedication and passion for the art and life of survival always gonna be a legend in my eyes
Les is a strong and courageous man..You would have to be to do what he has done. This man is tougher than any person I have ever seen.
I’m surprised that your favorite isn’t the Flamethrower shelter, from that hot-air balloon.
That thumbnail picture is absolutely hilarious. Jon bon-fire Jovi.
Look how young you look in that first clip making the shelter ( wearing the big hat) great content as per les 👏
I was taught that cutting off a tree's bark around its complete circumference kills off the tree.
The trees were already dead though. He said that.
That's correct. Indians used to do that to trees they wanted to fall.
Psyminds Pretty sure of yourself there. Pretty cocky. Actually, in a later episode Les says he stopped doing this for this very reason. Maybe follow your own advice?
If I don’t get out of my house soon, I’ll be building my own Devils Tower in the living room.
If you run out of mashed potato use mashed-up TP if you can spare it . . .
@@The_Occasional_Bushwalking_Man TP is pandemic currency in the US man- can't be wasting it on forts in the living room. When this stuff first broke out you couldn't buy tp any where- ppl had to get inventive, some of us had to do things we'll never forget- here's a free tip for you, if you're gonna use the garden hose like a bidet you really should turn the pressure down first- wow!
@@stoneysdead689 May I inquire as to why you tried to use a garden hose instead of just shitting before you shower? 😂😂
Thanks Les Stroud your a real courier de bios.
Your show will always be the best. 1 man, no camera crew, filming everything yourself!
Thank you for all of that!
if the intro was a full song id buy it
Yo less I owe you and apology. I watched you growing up as a kid and once bear Grylls came into the picture I jumped ship because how actions packed and fast paced his show was and military like it was. Now I’m older I realize how you are the true OG survivalist, fundamental skills and good natured man and truly care about what you’re filming because you love both filming and survival/nature
Thank you Les God bless your awesome heart.
Yeah! I just found your channel and instant subscribe! Survivorman was one of my all time favorite shows and I learned a lot of great techniques for my own camping and hiking adventures. Love you Les!
As always I enjoyed the video they sure help to pass the time when you have no work and your stuck at home. I thank you Les for taking time to do this for us it helps take the worry's of the day away.
Love you Les. You taught me more than you can possibly imagine. Stay awesome brother. Cheers from the rockys
Same. 💛
I loved your show and am enjoying you on CZcams!
Man, I loved your show and am enjoying you on CZcams!
Mr. Stroud, the lesson on shelter building that you gave that I took to heart, is to give yourself time to do it right. Racing the night makes for bad shelter building. I tell my friends, if nothing nasty is chasing you, and you are not racing along for some reason, stop at about noon, eat, then get started. Shelter built, firewood [hopefully] gathered and ready before nightfall.
The number one lesson from this excellent video is when Les said, "If I had brought a simple tarp, I could saved a lot of work and energy".
Great video by a great man. I watched your show growing up and was (and still am) thoroughly impressed by everything you do.
Out of curiosity, has any of the people whos cabin you stayed in ever contacted you at some point and said " you were in my cabin on your show. " 😆
Thank you for posting these videos ! I'm already looking forward for the next one.
There is a hidden delight during this crisis Les. We are loving seeing more of Survivorman Love ❤️ these videos so much. Even though I have seen most episodes on TV, on SMTV too. Your entertainment is the best because you tell it like it is. I appreciate you effort so much.
I remember watching all those episodes! Great job editing it all down to a concise and coherent commentary!
A true real life usable kit complied with guidance which worth much more than the kit itself. I might buy the kit but I will definetely apply the principles given. Stay healthy and keep inspiring us. Greetings from Greece.
Watching Les go from Baby Birch Les to Wise and Bigfoot-seeking Les has been a great experience for us. Keep it going.
WHY DON'T YOU JUST STAY AT THE MOTEL? no wait that's that other guy lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍
Not to mention that the other guy can't play a killer harmonica!
The other guy is a real survivalist. Real survivors jump off trees and waterfalls, and eats steak at motels.
@@matterbob5x 🤪
Love it les! Ty for all the info you have given and continue to give!!
One suggestion is to teach people how to properly use a Mylar space blanket. They're awesome, if used correctly.
Les many thanks again! This is the Real Surviving and it is not so nice. Me, I would do that if absolutely must only.
Juha Jarkko Ulvila practice the basic skills, because learning them while you are actually freezing or soaked or sweating in a hot summer sun drastically reduces your chances of success.
Loving your channel! Keep up the good stuff!
Great video Les love the shelter making used to love making different shelters but its been years cant wait to go camping this summer Maine is warming up slowly stay safe my friend God Bless thank you for sharing
That Arctic tundra episode at the fish camp is one of my favorite episodes.
Thanks for these videos. Great content, especially for someone facing a lot of screen time lately!
17:00 100lb otters...I didn't know we had those.
i used a sharp edge on a rock to puncture the birch bark like an axe to remove the bark, saves the knifes sharp edge and is actually easier then trying to cut it.
Hey Les I like the way you re-edited your original theme song ! and as always ,....Great job man !
Amazing!!!! My Son an I been watching, an learning, hopefully some of these skills Sticks with him !!👍👍👍🙏🤓
Excellent, dood.
Man vs wild introduced me to self reliance, but survivorman helped me separate fantasy from reality and really kickstarted my interest
Thank you
Awesome!
Great video !!
It funny I grew up watching you. And I can still remember all this shit.
I remember all the episodes. Even the techniques he uses I use
I always wondered where you found the cool Tarzan like call at the beginning of the show. Did someone record it for you?
Another classic Les method is to collect lots of firewood instead of building a shelter,
then keep a fire going all night
My son loves your survivor man series... Inwas wondering do you give survival classes in Canada?
I always carry a book or magazine with me not only for emergency fire starter but for the small bit of mental clarity that comes from reading a book when i'm out in the boonies.
Thank you again Les!!! Is it possible sometime you could show us tips on making a survival video? Maybe tips on good shots, what makes good filler, etc.?
We need a bug out bag video. In case some of us need to evacuate. You would be the best suited for what we need to have. I don't think in most bug out bag videos out there the people have ever been camping. That would be awesome.
Les is a boss
OG of the 😜 wilderness
Shelter is very hard. Me and my friends would go out "Surviving" and I would always build the shelter. After the first two, I became really good at it, but building a shelter that fits three people with room for packs and a fire was a task and a half. I still have pictures. It probably took me 4-5 hours of cutting trees and small vines with a Kabar Big brother and 2 hours of careful construction to get it made. It really takes it out of you, and we had food and water WITH us.
Oh good lord 2001 seems like yesterday
@ Les Stroud. Brilliant shows and you're a great presenter. I look forward to watching more. I've only watched six so far. You probably know already but others might not. If you need to leave your fire, add a little timber to it and pat it down. Then cover it with ashes 4" or move of ash (do not pat down). It will cut down the air getting to it. It will go into smoulder mode and last for many hours. :-)
I make all of my shelters out of poison oak and poison ivy leaves, Very water proof and helps keep you busy during those long cold nights. Scratchy Scratchy :D
Great videos, thanks for this series!! I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice that survivorman is mispelled?😉
shelter is always #1 priority
Mine would be a fire.
I wonder if les will have it written on his gravestone... It's gonna be a long night
Can you do a detailed video on shelter building like you did with the firebow?
I love you les stroud
so basically getting lost or living in the wilderness is not the greatest thing ever, mosquitoes, snakes, wild animals, polar bear, monsoon rains, so how do inuits, aborigens, survive and live in those conditions? Hats off to you Sir, thank you for making the sacrifice of your time and experience to teach us how hard it is to survive and to take it seriously. Thank you
By being a lot more tough than us lol
Lit lit 🔥 would still love to see your covid mockumentary
Its on this channel - day's 1,2 & 3
Survivorman - Les Stroud im greedy i want more
I would love to see you, Dave Canterbury and Cody Lundin the Alone TV Show. I bet it never happens!
Poignant last words.
I'd suggest any live streams be invite only, to screen out the TMZ keyboard warrior crowd. Keep up the great content Les!
What?
Loving your videos Les! Thanks
Its kinda funny, that dug out tree shelter thing he is talking about it literally in the US army survival guide... along with a bunch of other stuff that doesnt work...
So many advertisements !! I sure hope Les is getting the proceeds!
