I've been watching Survivor man since you first came out on TV and I am absolutely ecstatic that you have made the transition to CZcams
Shawn Fort same here I absolutely love it.
Me too, these videos have been a treasure for behind the scenes

Same here!
Love these director's cuts Les is truly a blessing and a master of his craft.
Les's constant restraint to not constantly shit on Man v Wild will never cease to amaze me .
He holds the ire for the production itself, but I think he does respect Bear and his knowledge/abilities. The way I always looked at it was; Les showed true survival, that the common man or woman may find themselves in a situation like the ones he presented in the various episodes, while Bear (with the safety provided by having a crew with him), was able to do much more "ridiculous/outlandish" things on his treks. Bear was afforded that room for error while falling through ice, hanging from a crevasse, falling into quicksand, etc., which allowed the viewer a way to experience someone going through those things in the highly unlikely event they should ever have those things happen to them. Was it grandstanding and all for show? Yeah, probably, but I think it served its purpose and had its own niche, but I far and away preferred the style of the self-filming all alone TRULY man vs wild that Les presented for us.
Love the "rest of the story" bits. As a 20-year old kid from the USA I was solo canoeing in the Boundary Waters. Had a fishing license for Minnesota, but strayed over the line into Canada. While I wasn't sure, I sorta figured I was illegal - but I 'm out in the middle of nowhere so... Two mounties in a canoe came upon me. Gave me a ticket ($40??? way back when.) Just pay it when I get back home. They took off in their small canoe - they were FAST! I came up on them at a short portage around a rapids. They invited me for lunch! I asked them about their canoe, and they were on some sort of speed canoe paddling team.
I love the boundary waters. my grandfather is a guide for trips up there. he's been doing it for at least 30 years. he's 75 or so and still killin it.
great tale. happy tale
I never realized how lucky we were to have survivorman on tv. I always assumed things would get better or at least stay the same in terms of quality. I appreciate all the work you put into making this stuff for us.
I love watching the Director's Commentaries in the evenings with a cold beer or two. Something about these shows is very relaxing and I feel like Les is talking to me in person. Keep them coming Les.
I loved the lower thirds Les , I would never side with the network but I found those factoids to be a nice touch. Keep the commentary coming my friend!
4 months later and no one agrees....😫
1 year later and still ...
Lol, there ya go, buddy. I agree
I saw the “hand trick” when I was like 18 on Survivorman and have used it extensively while climbing and hiking since then. It works out nearly perfectly at 15 minutes per finger, despite having really small hands. What Les teaches is stuff that works and will help you-what other “survival” shows teach will get your head popped off, and probably sooner rather than later.
In theory given that your hand size and arm length see generally proportional, it should mean that everyone sees their hand as about the same size as each other against the horizon when their arm is at full span
@Asherah I could not care less. It's not a magic trick. And you doubled-up on "sleight." I think someone is trying to sound smarther than they are. And those aren't "commas," they're quotation marks. Nice try, though.
I've watch almost every episode, it's not just the show, quite honestly Les Shroud you have affected my life for the good and I appreciate everything you do for everyone across the globe. You are my hero haha
Grown up in Alaska. I'm 20 years old, I've heard strange noises out in the rural mountains while hiking with friends. This low elevation mountain we were on is hundreds of miles from any city and about 10 or more miles away from the nearest village. It was late in the day in the summer, about 6 or 7 pm. My friends and I were hiking down the mountain when we heard a loud knock on a tree off in the distance. At first we thought that perhaps it was a gunshot several miles away, but then the knocks continued every few minutes or so. We weren't so phased by the sounds, but then we started hearing whistling a few hundred feet away off in the treeline. Knowing what birds and other common animals sound like, we were sure as hell that it was no ordinary being making these very human whistles. That's when we got freaked out and ran down the mountain. Never again have I had the courage to return to the mountain, but perhaps with a powerful firearm and a dog, I'd feel more secure to do so.
East Sierra in California has had a lot of similar occurences

Thanks Les for continuing to put these up I feel spoiled that you’ve been posting multiple days in a row like this. When I saw this come up I said to my self heck ya les stroud is the best, thanks for the entertainment during these low key weekends.
I agree!
What can be said that hasn't already been said. I was in search and rescue throughout and after high school in the early 2000's and you've always been the Real McCoy to watch and learn from. Everything you've done, and continue doing, means so much to so many people, especially to me and my dad! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Wes is a stand-up guy. I would take his advice any time. Knowledge is the key to everything.
Idk who this Wes guy is you speak of, but Les is a helluva guy!
Hey, Les.
Would you consider doing one of these on the episode with the jaguar?
Always wanted to know more about your experience with that one.
oh man, that’d be awesome
it's on the channel now'
Les is the real deal, never met anyone who didnt respect his dedication.
Got to like it Papa Bear!!
Thanks Les for doing this. I love your shows!

Thank You Les for providing us this awesome series that gives your insight to your own adventures. I love the outdoors, have hiked thousands of miles. Just looking forward to everyone being safe and healthy and being able to get back into the bush. Thanks again.
I’m loving these commentaries! Thanks for the new content and the memories! I am huge fan of your survivorman series since I was younger, I’m 25 yo now. Hope you and your family are safe and healthy. Sending good vibes from Florida!
These commentaries are fabulous. Gives us even more context to an already legendary series. Woot!

Thank you. You've always been an inspiration, and I'm glad to have your new videos
These are so awesome. Thank you.
That was probably my favorite episode and most memorable. I always thought you would be sick from the fish. Thanks for the back story. Nice job.
I love the fact he's doing the commentary from a hammock, sipping orange juice from a wine glass. Classic Les!! Thank you for all that you do!
We greatly appreciate you doing the show
Thank you Les, the videos really are helping me get through these rough times!💚
Thanks so much for sharing the videos! Really love the show since way back when! I remember all the episodes and right now in these times it sure helps out
I sincerely thank you for these. They are fantastic to re watch with new insight included. Many thanks!
Can we just appreciate the amount of thought going into all Les’ camera angles!? Amazing! Also, the “big foot” or whatever watching you and the fear of not being able to have your kids full time. Maan...Les you are the man. Thank you for all these episodes. I always had a bag of jerky next to me when my dad and I would watch. Good times for sure.
I love listening to you playing the harmonica! It is like food for the soul.
Nice! Another one of my favorites.
Awesome Les. Please do more of these. I remember watching your show years ago.
Those salmon jumping behind you sums up the challenges and frustration well! Thanks for posting this!
Great video great views of the mountains all in all a great Survivorman commentary I am sure we all thank you Les for this gem. Looking forward to more videos.
Love the director's commentary
Oh... man this is a treat thank you and God bless Legend of Les!
Would love for you todo the one when you are out in the ocean for 7 days in a emergency raft, however i am loving the fact of watching these again and any episode would do!! Thank you for doing this!!
....thanks for sharing this with us, your die hard fans. Love your DIY skills with what you have on hand, right there.
These just hit my feed, and they are great! I still remember watching your show, loved them! I think my all time favorite was the Arizona desert where you "crashed" a motorcycle and had to make you survival from there. Still remember you using the corn chips to help start the fire, with the oil of the chips being the perfect tinder. Thanks for all those amazing shows and the memories with these commentaries!
I am loving this series your doing Les. Been watching you since I was just a kid and am super happy to see you doing so well.
Keep em comin!
Thanks Les, really enjoying these.
Thank you so much for this Les in the times we are going through ✌️🇨🇦✌️
Les is an absolute legend, glad to find he's got a CZcams channel, been watching his stuff for yonks
Les...It's so much fun watching your show with you!! This Director's commentary is brilliant and I'm so grateful for the content.
that fire piston is brilliant. thanks for uploading these Les
Its so good to hear your voice again!! I used to put "Survivorman" on for my 3 girls right before bed, when they were little. Your calming voice used to lull them to sleep. Plus they learned a lot! Of course, I loved your shows too. As soon as I hear that opening music it brings me back! Stay safe!
LES! Im so glad you are on CZcams now!
my grandson and I really like these commentary hope you keep doing them,
YES! thank you for doing this, what a cool thing to do.
Thanks a ton for uploading this for us!
This is probably my favorite episode. A good time to release it too while everyone is at home on quarantine.
Love these directors commentary series. I have watched every episode of survivor man, but the behind-the-scenes commentary is outstanding🤙
Thanks for these. LOVE them, really help while being locked up. Please give us more. Stay safe Les :)
Les, you are an incredible person, filmmaker and outdoorsman. I've loved watching you from the beginning. I don't watch cable anymore, so it's good to see you here on CZcams doing your own thing. These director's commentaries are awesome. Thank you!
Brilliant. Thank you. Xx
What a treat this is! Really enjoyed all this commentary! So much happened that wasn't told as part of the series!
how the hell did you get verfied with 11 subs ? xD
THANK YOU - for your honesty of catching food, your sharing of personal anguish, etc. No crazy hype, no over-the-top, " jumping the shark" nonsense. I enjoyed the series while it ran on TV, and getting your personal insight into it now, brought it all full circle. Nicely done Les
dam les your a beast putting these out every day, thanks a bunch
I learned that hand/fingers to horizon from you, can't even begin to describe how much it has helped and/or made camping trips (or any trips for that matter) easier and more enjoyable.
Things that you still can't talk about? Such mystery! Thank you for putting these online!
Holy crap I'm loving these series Les. Please keep them coming! I used to watch Survivorman religiously on the Discovery Channel and your added commentary is perfect. I found myself binge watching these directors commentaries and losing track of time.
Just like ol' times.
Theres only a handful of shows I've watched time and time again throughout my life. Survivorman is one of them. Survivorman proves that production value doesnt have to be fancy in order to be successful. It proves someone can create a show that stands the test of time without a large crew, a script, or much more than a couple cameras.
Undoubtedly theres still a lot of logistics going on behind the scenes. But the true hero that made this show work is Les' ingenuity.
I hope more shows like this will find their way onto the tv screen and I hope those people will follow in Les' footsteps and refuse to sell out or give into network mogols.
A vision, a dream, and willpower came together in a beautifully harmoneous symphony called Survivorman. Thank you for being apart of humanity Les. Bless you.
LES!!!! I've missed you SO much lol!!! The kids and I love your stuff!
These have been a real treat.
Thanks for these uploads.
Been watching your show since I was a kid, I'm now 24! I showed my friend the hand trick with the sun a few days ago just goes to show all the stuff you teach sticks with people. Keep making content we all appreciate it, thanks Les.
Man, thanks for doing these. I'm a big fan and love to see your thoughts on these shows. Keep it going if you can!
This is amazing. Great job Les.
The awful lot...offal lot. Great hidden pun.
Loved this series....
Thank you for doing these Les. My wife and I have been huge fans since season one. I even have all your seasons on DVD. Also love your pandemic advice, gave me a lot of ideas. Keep up the great content sir!
Les, you were and still are an absolute inspiration to my brother and I who grew up in the scouts. You we're the guy we wanted to be when we grew up. You we're the personification of self reliance and our motto of: be prepared. Which through you I learned wasn't always about having every shingle piece of gear for every situation, (that's really not logistically possible) but rather having a creative mind to make do with what you have. And also the critical thinking skills to make those life saving decisions in times of duress.
So happy your on CZcams now!
Always first class Les👍👍
Some of my favourite memory's of survivorman was listening to you munch on random thing, and your reaction to them lol.
Love the show, these commentaries are amazing btw.
stoked to see this
Great information and stories...thank you!
Les thank u so much for these🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love all of this. I watched these shows everytime I got.the chance as a kid
One of my alltime favorite binge worthy shows. this is awesome idea, i love the insights! Love your work! Be Well!
Watched the show then the commentary ..both were fabulous thank you Les!
Hey Les, Thank You so much for doing more CZcams, especially with what’s going on now. Your videos help pass the day 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 I was out this morning doing some 0 to 60 pulls in my Dodge Hellcat, now that stops the boredom too lol.
I saw that you are making the transition from SMTV over to here on CZcams. I suggested this to you a number of years ago and I think it will be a great thing for you and your fans. You won’t have to run and fund a network, you can put content up for free and it’s free to your fans. And through ads, you can have a residual passive income that you so deserve for your great content that you create.
Also, with the changes that CZcams has been making, it seems like they may be heading toward something like a Netflix type network themselves. This should put you in a nice position if you are already established as a popular channel.
Keep up the great work, Les, I’ve been a fan for a lot of years. God bless.
We suggested it to him years ago, as well. Guess enough of us planted the seed and he finely had the idea. As long as we get to see his work again...it does not matter. So wonderful to have his shows back!
C. H. It is very cool to have access to his shows on this platform!
Hay, thanks for your reply. But even more than that...I just checked out your channel and...WOW! Never knew you existed. This is so Cool. What a Gift you are giving to us all as well. I'll certainly past it on. God Bless, Happy Easter and Stay Well
C. H. Thank you very much for your kind words! Happy Easter to you and your family as well!
"I see you are following my suggestions. Ill go ahead and repeat the reasons you should follow my suggestions. Thanks for following my suggestions."
We need more of these ASAP!
Wow, this is the best one yet! It's awesome to be able to peek in the window a bit for a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes.
You are a big part of my childhood .... : ) Thank You for your work and creating the Series : ) An inspiration ..... : )
Wish you would come back on tv. I enjoyed it. Especially finding Bigfoot episode. Hope u and Todd standing can continue documentaries.
I agree him and Todd work Tod is zeal and he adds rationale
Why does he need to be on TV? It's a dying platform.
He's here and it's better.
we need all the episodes on Netflix I don't understand why they are not uploaded on a platform im not gonna purchase them 1 by 1
Les thank you for this
NEED MORE VIDEOS! PLEASE! I love these and I am waiting for more......
Love the series, grew up watching you. The OG of survival shows before anyone was doing it like this
