Thank You . I gave the Poulan Pro 42cc - pp4218A . The compression in Load was Drowning out . Took the head Off and found the Beans New chainsaw had Scaring on the Piston. Futher inspection found the cylinder wall on the Forward side had Scaring as well as the Ring was Deeply Sacred cutting grooves into the piston wall as well as the piston it's self . I found it difficult to Remove the clutch . This Isn't my First removal of clutchs but , however found it difficult to remove without some agrevation . I gave heard of the Rope trick before but never knew the effective working use . Now I know . I usually just use the Large screw driver holding the Flywheel on one side while taking a hammer and Large screw driver to knock it Off And On . I think I will use this method More often . Thank you for the video . It made More Sense to me After I had gave it a try . I Did put Both heads back on the exact same saws and Removed and installed the clutch with Much Less Agrevation ! Again ,Thank You !!! How ever , Do you gave Any thoughts on Honning the cylinder walls to rebuild the damaged saw I possess now ? And More importantly , Where can someone find these Specialised tools that is Now Required to work on these Newer small engine Saws ??? This would be a Greater benefit than actually completing the job at hand . I can't find these tools No Where !!! It would seem that the Repair industry is Hiding the tools used from the public by form of implication to Gain a repair . Everyone I gave talked to Refuses to give the information on Where to Purchase these tools . Scratching my head on this !!!

Thanks for your comments! We're happy the videos were able to help you. I typically don't try to
hone the cylinders of these smaller engines for several reasons. 1. It's difficult to gauge how much material you need to remove. Poulan offers 1 size piston and ring for the standard bore. They don't offer anything larger to help compensate for the larger bore. The second reason is, the new cylinder kit, piston and ring kit and gasket kits for these is available for under $80.00.

It appears that my outer bell, or steel clutch housing with the drive sprocket, is rubbing / binding on the steel outer ring / band in the chainsaw's body. It's the ring still inside the chainsaw once the clutch housing is removed. It doesn't touch the plastic tangs which I think is meant to keep the steel band concentric to the clutch housing. I think it's meant to be concentric so it doesn't drag on the clutch when spinning. Any ideas in how to adjust or get this concentric? Thanks.

Your video is awesome AND your recommendation on purchasing the clutch tool has made it pretty easy. Having a problem replacing the clutch drum, as it appears it isn’t seating inside the metal ring. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

By removing the clutch, using the impact wrench method, it is important to leave the spark plug in place to allow the compression ,which is greater than impact wrench torque to loosen the clutch. I've used this method successfully, but S
tihl tech support does not recommend using an impact wrench.

All went well until I tried to replace the collar and in no way can I get it to slip past the external steel spring. The fit is so tight, I've tried slipping it in using a thin blade like a shoe horn, I've tried creating a very thin sheet metal to create an entire collar to shoe it in. Any suggestions?

Is there a correct way to reassemble the clutch should it fly apart? Thanks.

I have not seen anywhere on how to reassemble the 530057907 clutch if it happened to come apart. I asked our tech. He told me that the spring on the clutch is too strong to stretch it with your hands. He also said that he once
tried to reassemble one and he could not do it. He ended with saying. "The best thing to do is replace it"

Ask me how I know how to make the clutch fly apart into your neighbors yard....

I fixed my clutch by chopping off part of the spring to make it shorter and rehooking it up to itself. I usually have to give it a quick little rev on start up to get it to retract the shoes but it's good to go after that. Great no-money repair.
