Perez isn't to blame for the crash. But he sure is to blame for ruining his chances of staying second in the Championship. It was a stupid decision to try go on the outside of two cars already going side by side. An unnecessary risk to take when the guy he should worry about was behind him. He handed points to Lewis today and will not be surprised to see Lewis second in the Championship with the races that are left. Redbull should drop him for 2024 or else they will be struggling to win a constructors championship with a inconsistent driver like Checo.

Ocon wasn't alongside when Checo went for the move. He was going for a simple pass around the outside so lay off.
He was level with Max until Miami and he let that result get to him in a way he really shouldn't have, but in a way that was inevitable when he knows this is his best chance of winning the title.
He also knows that his boss (Helmet Marko) is a biggotted racist who has never given drivers a proper chance to recover and that new Netflix fans like you who don't really have any context for the history of the sport would be calling for his seat if he didn't win or get close to winning the title.

@@quintuscrinis8032 absolutely horrendous take, helmut being a racist dosent prevent checo from driving faster. Its not new "netflix" fans that are calling for his seat, its everyone in the sport and theres a reason for that. He's driving one of the most dominant cars in f1 history, and has only been in the top 3 in 8/16 races, thats pathetic. Hes going to lose p2 in the championship at this rate, to someone whos in the third/4th best car on the grid at some times, and someone who hasnt won a race all season. If you arent capable enough to block out all of the noise and do the talking on the track then you dont deserve that red bull seat. Getting beaten by damn near 200 points is pitiful, constantly being in the "wrong place" and making stupid and desperate moves because you cant qualify is pitiful. The bullshit about miami being his "chance" to win the title is absurd, you dont win a title 5 races in the season. I like the sprint race weekends even if I also like the normal format for most tracks. But some of these tracks are just exemplary for short sprints. Not every weekend, but four or five per season does spice things up nicely and throws more points out there to fight for. Awesome race today!!! CONGRATS PIASTRI!!!!!!

Here experts are missing the point that these F1 cars have huge blind spot, so Ocon only knew about Hulk being there and vice versa. Yes Ocon moved a bit right but he has to make a corner in the left, so it is upto Checo who was at fault by making it 3 wide. It was not Ocon's fault, either a racing incident as Hulk said in post sprint interview or Perez's for making a 3 wide.

IMO, for that accident, while not malicious - I believe it was Perez' fault because he created a 3-wide situation that had no chance of working. He was last on the scene, he could control it being a 3-wide or not. So while I understand that he saw a hole and went for it, he created the conditions for the accident to occur. Ocon had *no way* of knowing Perez had made it 3-wide. Perez was the only one with all the situational awareness and did it anyway (which again, I understand is a split-second thing.) So if they have to assign blame, IMO it should be on Perez.
